No, it isn’t lore because lore wise, they already stated why they coded it as such. Because it is easier in game, but lore wise, they aren’t all paladins. Just all warriors of light. Paladins are just a human thing, again, look all over these forums, twitter, dev talks, this is already well known.
This is why people have been asking for differences in animations and why there are so many in fighting with paladins because they want the game to also take the lore into consideration but blizzard already have problems with racial animations and sound in general. They aren’t going to code different animations of “paladins” to fit the culture and lore of the race and culture in the game. Kul’tirans already lost their sound with melee attacks. Just imagine if they had to make animations and sound differently for each race or code different words in the game to fit the lore.
Again, that is part of the coding. When they say “paladin” it is because it is literally coded to the code to the NPC and character. They will write unqiue lines with prelate, sunwalker and blood knight but target said NPC and said NPC will be coded as paladin. Hence "hey, insert NPC character Vindator, please do this insert NPC class. Said class will be coded as paladin because that is easier than coding each NPC as a unqiue thing as the line.
Like how Troll priests aren’t “priests” but witch doctors via the lore. But since coding it as “which doctor” is a pain in the as, they are just all coded as “priest”.
If you are talking about the chronicles, you do know nobody takes those seriously because even blizzard said they aren’t to be taken as fact or written correctly.
If you boil down paladin to its base definition then yea trolls would have the first on azeroth, but if you want to go by the idea that only things named paladin are paladins then humans would be first cause draenei call theirs vindicators
So you just pick and choose what lore you think is a coding decision and what actually counts as lore?
I know when it is a coding because they give you two terms in the same sentence. Vinadator then going to paladin reeks of coding to NPC targeted convo. So yes, learn to see when coding is a thing. But man, I am done with you. You are just trolling now.
I think they just figured out “paladinism” as well on their own. And by that I mean that on their own they learned how to wield the light like paladins do.
Just like kultirans had shamans for ages but weren’t called “shamans”.
Or gilneans had protodruidism with the harvest witches.
IMO, it’s the 20-ish(?) years of isolation without support. They can’t afford to be dogmatic and xenophobic the way the empire back home can because they don’t have support from said empire. If they’d been getting regular reinforcements/supplies/etc., they’d probably have maintained their “Closed borders” attitude.
As it is, anyone who isn’t trying to eat them, web them, or corrupt them with Void magic is probably to any Arathi in Hallowfall.
The ones up in the big church maintain some more of that “old attitude”, I presume.
