The Amani Trolls are the most justified race in game

Their entire leadership wasn’t extinguished. Yes, King Anasterian Sunstrider was slain, as was Archmage Belo’vir and Ranger General Sylvanas Windrunner, but others stepped up to fill in the void almost immediately. Lor’themar Theron was appointed as regent by Prince Kael’thas and Halduron Brightwing was appointed to serve as the new Ranger General.

Well the Darkspear have something that the Amani absolutely don’t have, which is a leader. All the Amani leaders have been slain and as of BFA, it’s unclear who leads the Amani trolls now. They’re not reduced to the level of the Drakkari, who are effectively extinct, but they’re also not nearly as strong as they used to be. Much like the Elves, the Amani Trolls have lost the majority of their population.

Only the Vilebranch and Shadowpine Trolls remain affiliated with the Amani Empire. The Witherbark, Witherbranch, Shadowglen and Mossflayer Tribes are not affiliated with the Amani Empire as far as we know.

They are holding it as of current lore. The city is in the hands of the Revantusk Tribe and is a Horde outpost, as the Vilebranch Trolls that inhabited the city were wiped out.

And the majority of the nobility. Bob only got his regent position because everyone else was dead. If Kael’thas hadn’t turned bad he would get his glorious return to Silvermoon to sit on the throne.

I am pretty sure both living Windrunner sisters outrank his claim.

If Vol’jin can be replaced by “Who?” then so can Zul’jin. Infact I might remember they already had a new champion during Bfa who you can see in Tal’aman in Zuldazar.

You have a source on that? I assumed all tribes minus Revantusk swore allegiance to the Amani.

Can’t be. They are a few dozen people at best and the city is massive. There is no way they would be able to guard it safley at all times.

Wiki says they still hold Altar of Zul And Shadra’alor.

Alleria straight up abdicated her claim in the Sylvanas novel and Vereesa is already the ranger-general of a completely different group of elven rangers, so probably not.

And even if they tried to walk this back, they’d still have to follow the Farstriders’ protocols and get themselves elected ranger-general after the incumbent one’s death. So first they’d have to kill Halduron, and then convince his blood elf rangers to give them his job; you might be the only person in this fandom to whom that sequence of events seems logical.

The fact so many high elves are willing to follow her for the sake of the alliance speaks for itself. You don’t get authority without being able to inspire people.

I read the novel. She abandoned her duties yes. But her name still holds weight.

I just want to get rid of the elves responsible for Kael’thas being killed twice.

The only person responsible for getting Kael’thalas killed is Kael’thalas. There’s a reason they tried hard in Revendreth to get Kael to accept some responsibility for his own actions.

Kael was a victim of bad writing. Everyone who had played TFT knows TBC was totally out of character for him. And I was rolling my eyes hard when I freed him in the raid and did his quests. Like Accuser. Listen. You have people in there who genocided planets. And you judge a guy for being arrogant? Give me a break.

The Silver Covenant’s defining traits are its hatred of the Horde and opposition to the blood elves. Its leader is not about to get herself elected military leader of the Horde-aligned blood elf nation.

And I want Rommath to trounce Jaina in a mage duel, let’s see who gets lucky first.

Considering she iced Aethas without even blinking I doubt Rommath is gonna hold it for long. That duel would be over in mere minutes. I think I will get my wish first considering they already thought about purging the blood elf leadership a bit back in Cataclysm.

Lor’themar Theron was part of the nobility and a good friend to Kael’thas Sunstrider. That’s why he got the position.

Alleria at the time was missing in action, and Vereesa was not only in Dalaran leading the Silver Covenant, but as a member of the Alliance, she wouldn’t have been welcome to take the position of Ranger General.

Sure, he can be, but he hasn’t been and the champion you’re referring to gets killed in Tal’aman by the Horde.

All currently known tribes of forest trolls are descended from the Amani Empire. After the Troll Wars, the empire lost much of its territory. Seemingly some of these tribes became independent while others stayed affiliated with the Amani Empire.

Affiliated tribes

Unknown status with the Amani Empire

Former affiliated tribes

They are. That’s the current lore. The Vilebranch who controlled the city are gone, wiped out, and the Revantusk Tribe along with the Horde control the city.

Hey, guess where those two locations are though? Not in Jintha’Alor!

Honestly, I’d love if you could wear a ‘Revantusk Tribe Tabard’ - and be recognised as one of them, or other troll tribes that united with the Horde, instead of the whole Troll Horde base being shoehorned into Darkspear. :unamused:

And sided with the Horde to help killing the Sunfury. He betrayed his own people.

That divide is just political semantics. Alleria is a hero of the past and as Windrunner she has a claim to be ranger general and even the throne of Silvermoon now that all Sunstriders are dead.

They can always rouse this as non canon. Just like they did with the Sky Queen.

Still in practice there is no way they have enough warriors to guard this place. It would be a waste of resources. So I suppose they stay in the village.

When the Revantusk actually get a victory that matters aka against the alliance than we can talk again. The Hinterlands are contested and right now the Wildhammer Clan has all it needs to aid their allies to the south.

I rather have a Amani tabard thank you.

Well if you read further, you’ll see there’s more to what I said —

If a certain sect of the Amani joined the Horde, who weren’t as bitter as the rest of their kind ~ Happy days’

If not, they can continue to all blow kisses to the distant beam of light shooting into the sky from the Sunwell and hide in their jungle beyond their ruined city of Zul’Aman.

Or the Horde kicks out the blood elves and wipe them out to mend bridges with the trolls who were wronged by the story too many times. Bob and his lackyes have no sympathy from me.

Or the Blood Elves dive further into Amani territory, and wipe them off the map – Claiming Quel’Thalas once and for all?

I’d rather keep the Blood elves in the Horde, especially given their involvement with the faction and the recruiting of the Nightborne.

That being said – From a gameplay perspective, I don’t see the Alliance or the Horde removing a race.

At the very best I could see them altering one, such as renaming ‘Void Elves’ to ‘Thalassian Elves’ and giving them a racial select between High Elf racials and Void Elf racials, then doing a similar thing with blood elves with light-magic / arcane-magic to even the scales.

Personally, I’d love more Troll customisation options akin to models you see with ’The Council of Elders’ - In the Throne of Thunder raid if they were going to alter a race in some regard. That along with perhaps solidifying Highborne rejoining the Nightelves (Which is canon as of Cataclysm) by giving them the same duo racials selection options + have rune tatts (whether more Elune markings, or Arcanic runes).

I am still salty over everything from TBC so expect alot of angry rambling from me.

Because they had betrayed the Elves and made a pact with the Burning Legion.

I really doubt he feels sorry about that, and if you now consider those who sided with the Burning Legion to be ‘his own people’ then you’re coming at this from the completely wrong angle.

Alleria was literally missing in action, presumed dead after the Dark Portal closed. So she literally was not in a position to take the title, and Silvermoon needed a Ranger General to lead the farstriders. Halduron was the best option. Also Alleria wanted nothing to do with the position of Ranger General, which is how Sylvanas got the title in the first place. The title of Ranger General was hereditary and usually went to the eldest child of the previous Ranger General, who prior to Sylvanas was Lireesa Windrunner. Alleria was supposed to be the next Ranger General, she was being prepared for it, but she didn’t want it, and eventually her protests won out and she was able to go her own path, giving Sylvanas the title instead.

Had Vereesa been a Blood Elf and among her own people, she might have gotten the title after Sylvanas died, but she was not, she was living in Dalaran with her husband, Rhonin and her two children. Like Alleria, she was in no position to take the title.

They could, but as of right now they have not. Until they do, the Amani are leaderless.

They went for an alternative to ceace their hunger for magic because Illidan betrayed their trust.

Blizzard has reversed quests before. Scarlet Crusade says hello.

The void whispers are pushing her to take the title. We will see it happen eventually.

Lorewise TBC was just as bad as Bfa and WoD. There is no coming back from the mess it created. The Draenei went from ugly hobos to the chosen people of the universe. The blood elves lost their main plot to Velen and Kael’thas died. Illidan was turned villain. And the Amani got reduced to rubble. Not to mention that Outland is slowly drifting into nothingness. TBC better stays forgotten or retconned.

No, Illidan did not betray their trust. You’re getting your lore confused.

As Illidan prepared his army of demon hunters to assault Argus, Kael’thas became alienated. Several of his followers had left him to join Illidan to be trained as demon hunters and he believed he could harness fel magic just as they did to sate his addiction. Soon, the fel gnawed at his mind, causing him to become more paranoid of his people, believing them to think of him as a failure.[24] Many believed that the fel magic made him unstable.[25] He believed his travel to Outland to have been a mistake since he was no closer to finding a cure to the addiction than before and the suffering of the blood elves had only increased. He was too prideful to return to Quel’Thalas without a cure, yet also deeply ashamed and angered of his own inability to find one. In this state of emotional turmoil, the prince was contacted by Kil’jaeden. The demon lord told him of more effective ways to harness fel energy and that Illidan had withheld them from him because he did not deem them worthy, only tools in the war against the Legion. In return for teaching Kael’thas, Kil’jaeden simply asked him to abandon Illidan. The prince refused, but doubts began to plague his consciousness.[26]

Kael’thas sent Voren’thal the Seer and his forces to attack Shattrath City and the newly arrived Sha’tar. Kael’thas had requested that demon hunters would join the fray, but Illidan refused him, greatly angering the prince. Before the battle even started, Voren’thal threw down his weapons and defected. This betrayal was a devastating blow to Kael’thas, as Voren’thal’s ranks included some of the most gifted magisters and scholars he had led into Outland. The prince saw Voren’thals betrayal as a sign of his own failures to his people and a rift began to grow between him and Illidan that widened as the demon hunter had only eyes for his planned assault against Legion worlds. Believing that Illidan planned on abandoning the blood elves and enticed by the demon lord’s promises of salvation for his people,[6] Kael’thas turned to Kil’jaeden as his new benefactor.[27]
At no point did Illidan betray the Blood Elves or Kael’thas. Rather the fel started corrupting Kael’thas, influencing his thoughts, and he became an easy mark for Kil’jaeden, who influenced him and attempted to get him to abandon Illidan. After Vorenthal the Seer and the other Blood Elves that would eventually become the Scyers abandoned Kael’thas, that caused him to tip over the edge and make Kil’jaeden his new benefactor instead of Illidan.

Again, they could do that, but until they do, the Amani have no leader.

No, they’re not. On top of that, Alleria is currently exiled from Quel’thalas. She’s not permitted, under pain of death, to return to her former home.
