This is a reach. Blizzard sells cosmetics that don’t impact gameplay. It isn’t buying “items”.
They had realm/faction/race changes for how long? Again, what a major reach.
My point still stands.
Blizzard set a precedent long before tokens were a thing that allowed players to sell boosting services via in-game currency. Boosting has been around since vanilla and boosting is huge in all forms of Classic even though they don’t have tokens either. It isn’t about them “not getting their cut”, it’s about them having set a precedent in the past already.
My friend was so annoyed with this. The rmt players forcing guild decisions and making the gm move the guild to servers more readily to take advantage of better gold rates. Hell even 2 of them paying straight out of pocket to get scarab lord placements and pushing out more established players that have been with the guild since “fun server” days.
All before the comical display of communal rogues paying 6 figures for glaives.
Carried? ROFL. Look who’s talking? The Carried Tank. Your DPS’ers like us carries the group.
And I dont join KSM groups becoz they wont invite me anyway… and arguably boring too… same scenarios, monotonous, nothing special unlike with PuGs where you mostly get surprises. Most PuG groups I join has a keyholder with ridiculous M score or ilevel. Me carried? ROFL.
As you can see from the thread, the proponents rationalizing it are a) the profiteers and, b) the purchasers. Everything ranging from “it doesn’t hurt the game” (it does, in myriad ways) to “there is precedent” (as if that meant anything, this isn’t a court case).
Nonetheless, the long and short of it is: If you don’t like it, just vote with your wallet and walk away, because it’s not going anywhere any time soon.
Race changes - It was officially announced in early September 2009
Tokens - Americas region on April 7, 2015 at 30,000 gold
Boosts - boosts were first introduced on February 18, 2014
Faction change - made available to US players on September 2, 2009
Character transfers - In mid 2006 , Blizzard Entertainment began the Paid Character Transfer Service
In Game Shop - Shop for Pets and Mounts In-Game Dec 10, 2013
Nothing came with Classic launch in 2004, and my point stands just as firm. They did not offer any of this until they realized what they were losing out on having external, 3rd party, gold and boosting sales, as well as Mounts, items, etc. Once they figured out that basic services could make them money, which could legitimately be a Self-Service option at no cost since there are no physical humans interacting with the requested service, they still charge for them. Before a $60 boost token was ever available, there were people paying $150 to pay a service to level for them. Blizz chopped out the middle men, and undercut their prices. I’m not cynical, and I do not blame them for profiting, but I am a realist who can agree with their need to capitalize.
Yes, look at your top runs. +15s with 2500+ scored players. You are carried in your runs bought or not.
I laugh when people like you say “oh. but your a tank” meanwhile in other threads complain about how tanks have too many responsibilities. Pick a lane.
This is public information. Anyone can see that the majority of your top runs had players significantly higher than you and what is expected for a +15 key. You running with players 2500+ is being carried.
+15 Tazavesh: So’leah’s Gambit : The Mage DPS’er got carried.
World of Warcraft Rankings for Mythic+ and Raid Progress -
Shaman DPS’er got carried.
+15 Mechagon Junkyard (19:44) - Looks like they were in a hurry. They just pick up anyone and it so happened there’s me. Got me invited right away. Maybe I got carried. They get me or not, we would destroy that dungeon regardless.
I am well geared and with decent M score. What you posted, I am among the highest except for Junkyard. And I have a Damage Meters screenshots of those. I dont have much Junkyard runs like I dont have much Workshop runs. I have some Yard and Workshop runs failed… incomplete but that’s normal with PuGs when an elitist losing his patience.
Season 4 is dead already. I am beginning to go lazy after I have been lazy for the last Season. I am busy with RL. I prefer to play my drums/keyboard or basketball/bike than play WoW. But I did enough. MY KSM is late. I need to get my high ilevel Vault gear for me to carry my PuG group.
Season 4 was so easy becoz I got an ilevel 304 Range Weapon like the 5th week. And it’s gg from there. LOWR was cruel at start of Season 4, but now a joke. PuGs sometimes are frustrating to group with when they cant do the easy mechanics. How can you carry them if they keep on wiping us on Flame Wreath or easy first OPERA boss of LOWR? And PuGs sucks on how they handle the Trash before Chess. They sometimes decide to go invisible and still fail ruining a suppose to be a smooth easy runs. But PuGs are PuGs… but better than boring smooth sleepy KSM groups runs. I would remember any of my PuGs wipe than any of the forgettable KSM smooth runs. And still… I am the Carrier not Carried. I have decent M scores and ilevel compared to my PuG group most of the time. Of course, not 100%, I would get ungeared group. Sometimes I get geared group but they are few like on Junkyard you posted. And I need 4 to 10 M+ runs for my Vault. Whoever invites me first would get me. And many times, ungeared PuGs get me.
Nope, I dont use my key as I am not a Tank. It’s faster to get group as a DPS’er. I am always geared with decent M score to the key I am applying to join.
