The 2.2 resource regeneration change needs to be altered

Rogues can use trollbloods like a “mini” thistle tea to get the partial energy they need to do attacks on demand, or can use an mp5 1h for a weapon swap if needed in arena.

Healers now have a way to drink walk in arena. They can circle the pillar while regen-ing.

It will be essential to use this mechanic for speed running healers.

Druids are forced to drink Trollbloods every single shift to maximize their powershift cycle in raids. In arenas were forced to weapon swap to mp5 2h, of which there is only 1 good one: Atiesh.

I think it’s clear that this change in patch 2.2 has created all sorts of emergent gameplay that is not in line with the vision of original TBC, and similar to drums, seal twisting, and more, this needs to be altered for the improvement of the health of the game. You can’t just remove trollbloods, people will pick a different potion that applies.

This is utter lunacy and it’s plainly clear that this is begging to be changed.

Address this Blizzard, please, it makes the game look fundamentally broken and stupid.

If the other thread is to be believed, this is “intended” behavior and not a bug at all.

But I agree wholeheartedly, this should absolutely be fixed.

No rogue does or will do this.

We are on patch 2.4.3, this change was done in 2.2, deal with it.

Care to elaborate?

Blizzard specifically nerfed this so that you dont get mana / health for the first few tics, then it makes up for it… It was intended to nerf druids.

The 2.2 Resource change makes it such that any change to any resource forces an update to ALL resources, granting a partial tic. What this means is if a Rogue drank a Minor Trollsblood Elixir and waited 0.4-0.6 sec and then canceled it, the server would think you got an Energy update and hand you 4-6 Energy immediately and then start your 20 Energy per 2 sec tic over again.

The goal would be to use this when you’re just shy of another ability and don’t want to wait for the next 2 sec tic to get yourself there. Ideally this could be used intelligently at certain parts of your rotation and net you another 5-10% damage.

You could also accomplish this with weapon swaps between Mp5 and non-Mp5 weapons, but you lose Autos with this.

Yes, with actual drinking of “water” in Arena. This would accomplish mobile regen without even touching water by just swapping between two Mp5 weapons so you get super smooth and steady mana tics.

Interesting, auto attack is a massive component of rogue damage and time on target is super important. Combat potency also depends on offhand, but I don’t think that a weapon swap would disrupt auto attack, ill have to test that.

You get the same amount of mana though don’t you? In fact you get less then you would if you just kept the larger mp5 weapon on

Maybe place this under the classic bugs forum

That’s blatantly false. Popular Rogue content creators have already made videos talking about it. This change, whether it was made in 2.2, still exists as is in 2.4.3. The patch makes no difference in this request.

You may end up with a bit more, but essentially yes, it just comes as often as you swap rather than every 5 sec. That smoothing lets you get to a cast much quicker than you normally would assuming you’re on fumes.

In the long term perhaps, but the advantage is to keep mobile while rapidly regening chunks without having to stop and drink and wait for the timer to kick in.

thanks for the new tips and tricks im gonna use in my next arena

Regen ticks every 2 seconds not every 5 seconds I’m fairly sure you can only change weapons every 1.5 seconds so at most you are changing a 2sec tick rate into a 1.5 second tick rate.

Rogues can…

Druids are forced…

interesting wording.

I’d have to mess with it to be honest, I have Mp5 weapons I can test.

Incorrect. Switching weapons is not blocked by the GCD. It activates one, but it does not prevent you from switching weapons.

Again I’d have to check in game but I thought weapon swapping had its own sorta gcd. I remember reading about it with dual wield tanking and swapping to a shield

It does activate a GCD, but that GCD only applies to restricting spells/abilities. You can switch almost instantaneously back and forth between any two weapons with zero lag or cooldown, only limited by your latency.

I’ve become intimately familiar with these mechanics because I plan on weapon swapping instead of trollblood spamming for most situations.

This must have been what I was remembering. Thank you for the clarification

What’s a seamless, spammable one button macro?

This is one of my least knowledgeable areas of this (or any) game.

/equip The End of Dreams
/equip Blessed Qiraji War Hammer

Replace with weapon names of your choice. Pressing the macro will equip the one that isn’t currently equipped.
