Aight so just did it on my Paladin between Lok’amir and Scepter of the False Prophet, took the same time to get from zero mana to 1k in both cases, I just got to see my Mana tic up super smooth as opposed to once every 2 sec chunks.
So… what’s the benefit here?

rogues can only use this trick every so often, when they can find it useful
druids must use this trick hundreds of times per raid to be competitive with eachother. it is baked into their optimal dps rotation…

Soooo this actually MIGHT make Backstab Combat practical because the APM is lower than SS builds leaving a bit of free time to Twist the weapon swaps.
The benefit is mostly for cats in that you get to shred twice as it’s 42 energy each cast. Not many other classes are able to benefit from receiving a portion of the future resource tick.
I meant specifically with the mana thing since Zipzo had said they were going to utilize it while running dungeons and such.
The trick works with drinking because it counts as a regen buff. I edited my OP to reflect that small error in my complaint. A priest would need a mage to accomplish this in arena (unless there’s arena water I forgot about).
How much has this been played with in theorycrafting? Ive been messing around with it a bit because I really dont want to be farming all those damn potions. Is there a way to bake it into the powershifting macro?
Why do druids have to becompetitive with one another? Doesn’t your guild value you? Why should they care if some other druid parses slightly higher? So long as you’re doing mechanics and the boss dies.
i did not say they need to be competitive with one another. i said they must use this trick to be competitive.

Without this trick kitty DPS will be something like 14% lower. Kitties will go from being a very low middle-of-the-pack to absolute lowest by a very large margin. Without the trick it significantly slows our rotation (20% slower) making it far less engaging to play. And with the trick, the margin for execution is so slim that someone else in your home firing up a YouTube video could make it unworkable.

I for one am not worried about the competition piece of it, I will me a tank sometimes…other times I will need to be a cat…I desire those times I am a cat to still be fun and engaging…powershifting does that…the energy reset makes powershifting clunky and unfun.

Just fix the troll’s blood bug.
Because this is where the fun is. You could also just decide to never powershift too, but it’s not fun to do a fraction of the damage you could and should be doing. The alternative is doing less than mediocre damage, to point that the spec becomes a chore to play.
