Who decides what is the real rpg experience? Even in old d&d min-maxing was a thing and was always supported, heck if you DINDT mix-max you would be dead 10 minutes into the game
Ralph, what’s your secret to getting to getting all of those free vacations from Blizzard? Do I just need to post ridiculous threads a few times a day, too?
You do not need the freedom. Be glad this game gives you any freedom. It should be like Diablo 2 where everything you pick is locked for life and if you do not like it you reroll.
When the current content actually built on itself for the expansion duration (Vanilla or TBC for example) the permanent selections would not have worked… now though it would. Every major patch update resets all gear and what you had before amounts to nothing so rerolling a character really has no drawback if you wanted to change something up for new content.
I think people mistake what Warcraft the MMORPG actually is though. It’s an RPG always has been. I think when I say RPG people really have no idea what that means.
Certain things in an RPG exist for the sake of the genre and how it operates. I think that is the disconnect between what people expect and what the reality is when playing the game.
You can’t change the RPG b/c you don’t like it or understand it. It’s just the genre of game you are playing. RPG style games aren’t for everyone. In a lot of ways it attempts to cater to everyone and it shouldn’t. The grind represents the struggle of your character going through their role in the game. It’s part of the process.
The story is connected to progress as all true MMORPG do.
Even when the devs compromise people complain. That’s why I say leave everything as is b/c no one is satisfied unless they get 100% of what they want or demand “reasons” why they can’t get what they want. When you say “This is a MMORPG” like a childlike mind they come back with “I just want to enjoy the game” without understanding the genre.
You are still behind in gear and whatever borrowed power grind there is, I had people carry me at the start of this tier and I was behind for 2 months playing daily trying to catch up,
i would rather devs make the 1% players happy as they are the ones making guides and promoting the game on social media. look at what happened when swtortanic removed raids you had a dead game as that was the content ppl wanted.
Honestly it’s the "try-hard’ that gets me. I’m not sure why he doesn’t understand that some players find fun in pushing themselves to the absolute limit. If they didn’t there wouldn’t be an achievement called “Cutting Edge”.
This isnt about lore or RP, Ion specifically mentioned the stat side of RP and said its different than pretending to be someone who you are not.
I dont care about RP at all, but the stat side of RP is what i always enjoy in mmorpgs
I know I am not talking about it rn, they cant change the entire borrowed power of the expansion thankfully.
But this constant push to turn WoW into homogenized overwatch with raids is a problem, especially when it is clear tryhards will never stop complaining unless the game turns into that
Oh people always like to believe that on the internet when others challenge established norms, so I am not surprised some want to believe I dont believe anything and just trolling.
Sadly for them I believe what i say very much
Here’s my only comprimise
People can choose merc to change covenants all the time and lose all covenant rewards
People can choose permanent and receive whole class animation changes so all their skills include their covenant’s hue.
Because for covenant choice to be meaningful, you need something enormous, and changing all your spells to be greenish like necrolords could do that, not a weak sad mount or title.
Of course mercs the moment they choose to merc would make their entire account ineligible for receiving those loyalty rewards and that flag remains even if they merged it with a loyalty account so to get around it
You are an interesting case study. Why do you consistently use your banhammer “lives” only to inflame and insight artificial rage just to get yourself flagged again and again?
