What everyone here has said is pretty much the summation of the current status. Its sad, I really want to play hunter, and do not feel like leveling an alt and gearing one, but I am not even helping in mythic raid with this damage, what is the point in bringing me? And same goes for mythic+, why not just bring two boomkins and a mage? Like theres not even a niche anymore. I don’t really understand what they look at when they make changes like this, do they even do any calculations? Do they just guess and not even try the changes to see how it affects gameplay? Because it really seems like a halfcocked idea to have made these changes.

With regards to Ion, I’m shocked he still has that position. Ever since he took over its been a shambles. I guess so long as they can still milk the cow it doesn’t really matter how much the expansions have detiorated.

Ion is a lawyer, he knows absolutely nothing about gaming. He is there solely to keep blizz out of trouble. He is good at that, at least. But don’t ever trust that he knows anything about gaming.

So many more people care about appearing viable than ever before because there is so much content that is only accessible to casual gamers through LFG, and that content (because it is so plentiful) is considered the only relevant content.
Gone are the days of just enjoying heroic dungeons and LFR raids for the casual gamer. That content and the rewards are so far removed from the “hardcore” experience that it just seems like the 61st invisible level, and not real endgame. The developers, by locking the majority of endgame content (vast majority) behind the whims of a very fickle community have made public perception more important than raiderio or ilevel or anything else. There is no amount of balancing that can extinguish that fire. That environment will always be toxic for casual gamers and will always make the casual gamer feel forced into whatever option is considered best no matter how many options are given to the player in the future. PvE will forever be reduced to Player vs. COMMUNITY vs. Environment if they dont find a dungeonfinder style alternative for the majority of content in the game, saving only the most extreme content for carefully curated groups only.

Hunters are perfectly fine! Play SV and show out!
It’s due to the development of streaming, MDI and RTWF. As more and more of the player base tune in on those events, they hear top players say that X class is not good. A big part of the community is then blinded by the words of those players and don’t realize that the spec played doesn’t really matter until you reach higher level of play.
We’re currently at a point where people request to play only with S+ tier classes in M+2, Normal raid and 1400rating. That also cause people to reroll to a class they don’t necessarily enjoy. Instead of improving on their favorite class they become a mediocre S+ class and get more invites while being less effective that they would be on their favored class.
Skill > Class. It’s still true even when we get massive balance flaws, especially in low Ilvl content.

Yeah, I wont lie, pugging this week so far has been a nightmare.
The community perspective has changed extremely fast ever since that hit that mm got, with people starting to look at logs and seeing that the overall raiding stats of hunters is the lowest out of every class. It also doesn’t help that the people are listening to guys like limit max saying that hunters are in a bad spot now.
It also doesn’t help that hunters overall hasn’t been in a great spot for pvp. While the buff to venthyr might have helped a little in that regard there is still some major flaws to all 3 specs that makes it hard to be competitive in the current burst meta.
As for mythic +, mm is still technically in a ok spot since they still have great burst and survival is still fairly viable due to their uncapped aoe but the damage is already starting people are not accepting hunters to groups as much anymore…
It almost feels like were heading to what shamans used to be at the start of bfa. sigh

I dont know. I thought once that it was dumb, but Bepples corrected me and I think he’s right. Its perfectly reasonable for a group lead to want to optimize his group for the content he wants to run (or she). The fact that LFG is the only option for casual players to do something around 80 percent of endgame content is what is wrong. The difference between queuable rewards and mythic raid rewards is horrible. And thats just LFR and honor gear at full upgrade. Heroic dungeons are an irrelevant joke now.

i remember that… blasting morchok on accident and then being permanently nerfed so the best weapon in the game became unusable because “oopsie we made a fky wucky”
Idk, ppl complain about how streaming and heightened awareness has ruined things. I disagree, I think it helps because it polices blizz. If a spec is bad, ppl know about it. Before, a spec was bad, but it took forever to get around and blizz never fixed anything.
I guess blizzard figured instead of buffing BM and Survival just nerf MM so all 3 specs are bad.

I am legit so triggered.
As a player who pushes high keys in mythic + I am honestly beyond upset.
At the end of the day we know it all comes down to big dps in pushing those high keys and why the hell would anyone want a mm hunter now ?
Just look at the top classes playing in the MDI…everyone wants a boomy or a mage.
What kills me is how this apparent “bug” was able to go on for 5 months and then all of a sudden blizzard decides it needed to be fixed.
Wake up blizzard… do some actual research for once.

Their research has concluded that balance druids are fine. Affliction is clearly in need of a buff soon and fire mages may need another buff to keep them afloat.

Where is hunter buffs Blizzard?
I think they called it a bug because they realized they messed up and made MM hunters relevant and had to do something for what seems like since Legion as their least liked player class.
I read in some thread that somewhere it was said that Ion doesn’t like hunters. Now I don’t know if this is true because I have not been able to find a source for it.
However it seems that since Legion when he took over and yes I know Tom Chilton was lead at start but I think Ion had more to do with Legion then Tom , hunters over all have been in their worst state ever .

He seems to not like Shaman either, his main class. They have a pretty bad track record, especially at the start of an expansion.
So what you are saying is , he’s both a sadist and a masochist
