What is really baffling is Blizz has all these streamers/podcasters/bloggers Saying Hunters are bad/broken/underperforming { along with a couple other classes} but they ignore them as they do us.
Not asking to be top. just want overall dps # gap closed.
From there .Skill can put equal geared higher parsing hunters ahead of grey low blue parse meta’s dps wise.
Here is what irritates me about this. IT’s a covenant ability fix. But it dropped us from 5th to near the bottom. It has nothing to do with our regular abilities and ST was a problem even with the bug.
Scaling is obviously an issue. We did really well with low item level at the beginning, but we are not keeping up with other classes as we get gear. This is because Blizz spent all their time on these dumb covenants and not focusing on classes core abilities and rotations. And it shows.

That’s the average mythic raid performance at the top 5% of every classes.
Note that the strengh of a class is not all about damage. Utility, burst CD, defensive, raid CD or buff are all very important factors to determine the viability of a spec.
Hunter advantages were massive burst damage every 2 minutes, nerfed to good burst damage but not exceptional. It remains one of the best classes to do mechanics that involve movement as we are highly mobile and can keep good dps while on the move.
Hunter doesn’t bring any raid CD or buffs, it’s quite squishy compared to other classes and it’s immunity is working on only half the mechanics.
Hunter viability is not bad as it’s really nice to do mechanics but the overall damage is currently behind other specs on all 3 of our options. There is really nothing making hunters unique and essential to a raid team which is a shame.
To be honest - there’s close to no reason to bring a hunter into a dungeon except hero.
And I’ve run into a non-zero amount of pugs that didn’t realize hunters even have hero/lust, or they think its just BM and are surprised when I tell them I have it
Agree. I hate mm and moved to lock when bm went to dog poo.
It’s not gear scaling. MM has better stat scaling than most specs (yes, better than BM). And we have the highest weapon damage scaling out of everyone.
There’s a big issue with our borrowed power however. Specifically our conduits, which are bad to begin and, I guess you could say, scale poorly. The difference between a 145 and a 226 Spiritual Attunement is 30 dps. A fire mage gets more than that from 1 rank of Infernal Cascade. That’s where we lost a lot of ground.
