I knew it was a mistake the second it became noted.
If some items are 100+ item levels above every other level 60 item, it’s obvious that they’re an outlier and it’s likely not intended.
You’re being willfully ignorant to save face.

What if, you saw someone with this gear, went and bought said gear and had fun with it for a bit doing some dungeons before Blizzard fixed it?
Was it well worth the cost for that short-lived bit of fun?
Because I know I enjoyed myself, my survival hunter was dropping bombs like nukes!
This is half true, lets be real if you played at any point during a new patch or xpac then you would know that Ilvls go up gradually. And if i was wearing an ilvl 150 item and suddenly i was looking at 376? Yeah id find that odd.
But thats not everyone and its no excuse to tell those people “YoU sHoUlDa KnOwN!!” Offer some actual advice on how to climb out of that hole or shut up. Acting like that is why WoW has one of the worst communities.
(Thats not targeted at you Morca, I was just quoting you for the first part)
What you are saying is that it was a trap intended to be sold to and equipped by players who read the requirements and weren’t aware the actual requirements were available only by ESP?
This is not the first time they have gone back and broken gear in use by raising the minimum level to equip.
The advice is twofold. One, don’t jump on highly suspect huge power increases on low level items. It’s like sending money to a Nigerian prince.
Secondly, just restore the gear you replaced, hang on to the now level 70 gear you already paid for and just level normally to get gear to hold you over.
Tailor can make him 343 gear or higher but mats and 379 isn’t bad for a 62 . There is no tier gear for 62 ,if any bonus + to tailoring gear.
great advice. Starting at 376 at 70 will be a good jump. You would’ve probably bought it anyway.
He’s 62 wearing 70 379.
Right. From what I understand that bugs the gear out and it’s as if he’s not wearing any gear.
He obviously had gear equipped in those slots before he put on the boes. He can just use item restore to get that gear back so he can have actual usable gear.
That’s true, have just hold on the items til 70.
Yea, that’s super unfair. Blizz should have scaled down the gear to the appropriate level rather than redline everything you’re wearing.
Id wager its much easier to change a level requirement than to go in and scale down the items.
All items on the ilvl system are auto scaled based on the quality and level. That’s why they did the squish. They should have just squished down the gear w/ the toons who bought it.
I can’t imagine a worse way for a new/returning player to experience the game, than to have no gear at all, and be expected to be at a high level and restart.
See? 379 is absolute trash item level for a 70, why would anyone think that is “end-game gear”?
and when you had it, you had fun, because that’s what item level you should have at 60, I’d still go to 385 with the fr gear for lvl 60s.
But you had FUN…how dare you!? NERF…oh wait um…FIXED IT!
They can’t. It’s Explorer gear with ranks on it.
That sounds like such a strange bug. Sorry that you fell prey to it.
They should heed the advice of a classic saying “If something seems too good to be true, it probably is”
They can use the gear restore feature to get back all of the gear they got rid of, free of charge.
You just gained honor level 5 yesterday.
And you’re on Tichondrius, which is notorious for it’s PvP activity.
Catch up gear has never been for below max lvl toon. Heirloom gear has been the only “catch up” gear for leveling toons. It has been this way since Cata at least when I started playing. While it’s crappy that this bug affected people if you even know about “catch up” gear from the past expansions you know it’s only for max lvl toons. Crying on the forums isn’t gonna fix things. Also when has lvl 60 gear ever been near lvl70 heroic dungeon gear.
Hey there, I don’t know if you’re still watching this post, but would you be up for me helping you get some quests done?
If so, let me know.
