It’s actually in beta, and I agree it’s the best time to attempt changes. Unfortunately for you both sides seem equally as loud so it seems like this is about the best we will end up with to appease both sides.
Allowing swaps whenever would appease both sides, one side wouldn’t have to use the function if they didn’t want to and the other side would be free to
The forums are a cesspool of toxic players constantly slap fighting each other and insulting each other while other players try to have a civilized conversations. Only reason he’s not banned is probably because he disguises his insults in a post that seems to attempt to spark a conversation, which it never does because the entire original post is loaded.
Not saying he shouldn’t be banned, just trying to give reasoning as to why he isn’t.
That’s incorrect, as we have seen in multiple expansions now if you let players at the top end do that it trickles down and forces everyone in the mid and lower range to have to do that even if they don’t want it to join pugs hence why it’s the developers job to anticipate and combat this toxic behavior and as of right now they are doing a fantastic job.
Lmao you still don’t get it, the design of conduits and covenants being locked literally exists so it stops people who change for each boss.
Blizzard wants that way of playing exterminated, that is the end goal, you can whinge all you like but blizzard isn’t going to change their entire goal because of you aka the person they are trying to remove
The whole reason they changed to talent trees 2.0 in Cata was due to players creating broken builds.
Prot/holy paladin was probably the most visible offender, because it was an unkillable death machine in arenas.
Blizz realized back in 2009 that if they kept building out these trees without limitations it would just lead to more and more broken builds, and it would be harder and harder to balance.
The more options and customization you create, the more players will find ways to break it into something completely overpowered.
Still going to be the same with this change, just less leeway. You don’t have to swap to be the bestest top dps for everything you do you know? What you said anyway, so it shouldn’t matter to you anyway.
Should I start flagging my posts when I quote this trash so the mods see all this harassment that is against the rules?
I can definitely see both sides of this.
Max-level content pushers want the flexibility to attack each fight in an optimal way.
On the other hand, for specific build/talent choices to really matter, allowing change on a fight-by-fight basis essentially results in have cake/eat cake situations.
I get what they’re going for: If you want to be the AoE bombardier in your group, you may have to play around being less effective on single target. If you want all the speed boosts, you have to do without the big defensives on that one boss who nukes the raid at the end of phase two.
I have no problem with this approach, but I can definitely see how others would have a problem with it.
Exactly you don’t need to swap to be the best for everything so we don’t need the option in game to begin with, luckily blizzard has already foreseen this and never let it become a problem. I’m glad you could agree with us.
Keyword here is want, blizzard designs fights to be beaten without everyone being optimal.
Therefore the fight is far more balanced and challenging that way compared to stacking FotM/meta aoe specs on the aoe boss and roflstomping through the encounter.
Raids are meant to be beaten by balanced comps that aren’t ultra optimal
I’m glad you agree with the fact that you don’t need to swap, so it shouldn’t matter if I’m allowed to
I don’t get why you care so much about whether someone changes each boss or not. Who. Cares.
Why does it matter to you at aaaaall?
They wanna do it? Let them. It’s literally not effecting you, just them.
If they wanna go through the effort to change conduits each boss, who cares. It’s really not a big problem at all.
You’re making a mountain out of a mole hill just because you don’t like a certain group of players that are the 1% out of the ENTIRE playerbase.
This already exists with class and spec design.
Exactly theres zero reason or need to swap between bosses so theres zero reason to waste development time on it. I’m not sure what we’re arguing about now since we’re in complete agreement that it isn’t needed so they don’t need to add it.
I think limiting it just enough so that it’s not really doable to switch for individual fights is enough.
That way the choices are still a trade off for the raid as a whole but players shouldn’t feel like they can’t PvP because they’re stuck in their raiding spec and would just get facerolled.
The 1 week limit seems like it’s going to get in the way of the second half of that, though.
If Blizzard really does want to “bring back the RPG”, I’ve also got plenty of ideas for that in ways that don’t limit players.
We can start with bringing back flavour to classes and making professions more relevant again.
It’s already added, just have to change it to once a day instead of once a week just how they changed it from what it was to once a week
Check the Ion interview if you don’t understand why he has made such changes, that is his goal, that way of playing should and thankfully is being removed from the game
You underestimate people, people outside of HoF guilds still reroll to FotM all the time, this is the same exact thing just with multiple of the same class (I doubt you want 4 anyways).
I don’t see how this is fun for anyone, if you care about performance you are forced in a certain direction, there isn’t room for experimentation or playing something different for fun. It also punishes people who multi-spec really hard, I raid as ranged DPS but I heal in my M+ group which likely means I have to play two characters now.
Yes once a week is perfect I’m glad they found the perfect amount of time between changes. Maybe on the last patch we can let you guys switch them freely we will have to see how our side feels about it before we side with you and make it happen first though.
