What are you even talking about? Are you serious or is that a sarcastic troll post? That’s like saying that most of those people who are farming flowers are abusing bots.

The game literally has kids using cookie clicker autoclickers to autopress TSM buttons on an interval, yet they’re almost never banned for months on end.

Just gank the ah npc in booty bay and you’ll see:

  1. The majority don’t react, even if there’s a bruto mount just out of reach.
  2. Target of target of the suspect players will show them to have started clicking on toons/pets/npcs where their missing ui is supposed to be because it was closed out from the ah npc dying.
  3. If you put out an aspirant’s stretcher toy over the dead ah npc’s corpse, the ones with poorly configured autoclickers will literally get softlocked by it. I’ve seen toons click on it and stay in a “bricked” state for over a week at times.
  4. They blatantly target the ah npc’s spot on a timer, specifically to reopen it if someone kills it. You can see it via target of target as a specific addendum to list item 2.

My favorite recording of #4 happening is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgkNRlY_ksU

Check target of target every 50 seconds, starting at the 10 second mark and skipping timestamps by 50s.

they aren’t going to do this - and they shouldn’t do this. I can’t believe anyone even suggests this but you are oceanic so…

i’m always curious about how many of these threads are by people who defend ‘free markets’ elsewhere. it makes me wonder whether they think irl ‘free markets’ are somehow more ‘fair’ or that they’re personally benefiting more irl than in game.

As a goblin who have made millions and still make millions I think there should not be a AH Api.

Yes, this Api makes our life much much easier and gives us all who work the AH advantage thanks to the addons that utilizes it but at the same time AH Api makes things too easy to abuse. Goblins need to learn their market and study it, it should not be pressing 2 button win scenario.

Also, I hate hate hate cross-realm AH manipulation, buy from 1 server and sell it on another is atrocious and should be stopped as well.

It’s not that he’s making a profit it’s HOW he is making it. The OP says its a personal addon that only the accused can use. If the addon was public and anyone could use it the this would breed competition and lower prices and wealth/power distribution.

you aren’t a goblin until you make 100s of millions.

anybody can build their own personal addon to do the same thing, if they’re sufficiently motivated.

A properly configured AH addon won’t be all that affected by this.

I largely base my maximum price on 150% of the regional average rather than realm rate so if someone posts something for 400,000g and it’s worth on average 20g, the most I’d post it for is 30g.

Blizzard dont care.

OP is already doing something that very few people do.

I actually see no difference between them doing that and someone making an addon for themself to use. Plus I would still like to see some proof of these claims - how would OP even know.

And having competition would do nothing because these are mostly single items bought at a deal and priced what the market will bear.

The problem is the AH is extremely exploitable when it comes to setting prices and controlling markets. Addons just make it more efficient to do so.

I was a goblin long before TSM and Auctioneer was a thing and coming from someone who hides on an alt this is just lolworthy.

the answer is no you shouldnt be able to monopolize the ah in the game. economy sucks enough as is without some dude that already has half a billion gold trying to get more for whatever reason probably sells gold for dollars online or some junk

What has OCE got to do with anything? An AH ran by the player is simply a terrible idea to begin with and getting worse. Letting one person run this many server economies and it’s not just these economies, in every server there is someone who has too many accounts and too much time on their hands.

If the average should be 20g, but someone posts at 400K than your price is now no longer 30g because the average is now no longer 20g. If you have 100 items listed at an average of 20g, the minute someone posts an item at 400K the average all of a sudden becomes 4K, so your 150% now becomes 6K, you see the problem? Even 1000 items at 20g average becomes 400g average making your 150% now 600g.

Add in everyone else that uses something similar and the price can very easily go up. A once 20g item can very easily become an item worth thousands if manipulated correctly and someone was willing to buy low if enough people use average as their posting method.

Slowly but surely one person posting an item for 400k can manipulate the AH out of reach of the average player. Just like the example I used for herbs, albeit it’s much faster and easier to do that, but manipulating one price of one item and all of a sudden the end result is now 4 times that price.

i agree with this one hundred percent tsm really kind of destroyed the ah harder then any other addon. literally click twice post a thousand auctions in five minutes go back to bed

Then report to hacks@blizzard.com . But people are allowed to use TSM and macros as well.

I think you might be confused.

I said, regional average meaning it either takes takes all the prices of all the items on all the north American realms as listed over the last month or something like that and averages them or it averages each individual server’s whole month of listings then averages those averages together.

One person on one server listing one item for something well outside of the standard deviation isn’t going to really change all that much.

True, just like anyone can build their own company but when a monopoly is achieved it gets broken up or is supposed too. Hence OP’s question of is it fair / what should be done if anything.

But it will change, eventually one persons listing will push the price higher and who knows how many AH listings are like this. One my server alone in basically every category there is one person posting well above average, something like 471K last I checked.

Even just one person doing this and the regional average goes up, if you get enough people pushing their prices even just a little above the current pricing than eventually the overall average goes up. It might take months, but it does happen.
