The user presses a button or clicks a key to start the scan. That’s human activity, not automation. And yes, the scan does continue while you are AFK, but after 30 minutes you disconnect. If you are AFK for the duration, then you neither gained nor lost anything. Maybe lost time, but that’s all.
As noted elsewhere, if the user is at the keyboard, no addon can make a purchase for you. That requires another human interaction.
Ok? So if the scan is started when the ah is opened, then it’s possible to automate the scan afterwards. What exactly are you trying to discuss here?
All of this was already covered. Why are you going back and trying to say it’s not possible to automate scans when the point of the post is about automating the scans?
It’s not particularly worth arguing with this one unless you’re just killing time, I believe it’s the same person that was heavily defending Overwolf previously.
They’re not manually searching for each item the addon is telling it to search for at certain prices, are they? Nope. It continues to scan for items while you’re not there. One click, rest is automated.
You can sit there and try to argue it’s not ‘entirely’ automated because you have to click ‘run’ but then any bot isn’t automated because they have to boot it up and hit run, etc.
Welcome back! You’re one of the few people who understand what’s going on here. My brain is rotting from having to re-explain myself every time these people comment “JuSt RepOrT tHeM fOr HaCkInG!”.
Yes, beginning a scan and buying items requires 1 = 1 input, that was established in the original post. I’m not arguing that this person is using a bot, I’m saying that the scanning for items part shouldn’t be allowed to be automated because this person has turned it into a scalping machine for half the servers.
Without addons, do you understand how the auction house works? Pick a category, click the search button? What happens? Oh, yes. Multiple items are returned. It’s like the Blizzard auction house is looping through the items to find your results. Fancy that, a loop, or iteration, using code. Imagine!
That is exactly what sniping does, except that it never stops until you time out after 30 minutes or stop the sniper.
I have the feeling that I am being trolled. Remember what I said about ignorance not being a bad thing? That’s true. Now you have knowledge, and have no excuses.
This thread vaguely reminded me of something on the CS forum a while ago - the subject was very similar, and the combativeness of the OP was quite similar as well. It turned from “If I did this” into “people are doing this make them stop”.
Anyways, a blue told them straight-up that everything was fine.
So, I went and found that thread for OP’s reference. Since blue text holds far more weight than white text, maybe this will help them out.
Sadly Blizzard doesn’t seem to follow the rules for 1-1, partly because I imagine macros but they could just put a clause in there saying macros are allowed etc.
Their rules on automation are also sort of all over to where they only don’t allow multiboxxers to automate, or use anything to ‘streamline’ multiboxxing. I would honestly consider AH scanning on multiple chars at once to violate the newer multiboxxing rules where it says they’re not allowed to ‘automate or streamline’.
Blizzard needs to crack down on AH scans at the least and AH posts using operations/groups where players are not setting their prices manually or even having to right click each item but instead use operations/groups combined with macros to scroll their mousewheel and post hundreds of auctions far faster than normal.
It would also help get rid of the auto-invite guilds and some other forms of automation often used in game, but that’s just my opinion.
Yeah, then sort by price, item type, etc.
In that category only. It also doesn’t just list certain items that are UNDER their usual price threshold that you set in an addon.
Nice attempts at your argument but it seems you’re even worse at arguments than you are at making addons. :3
Nope, it searches for items in EVERY category and specifically for items under certain price thresholds you set in the addon.
I have a feeling you have to tell yourself that in the mirror frequently.
Went off their example only, they’re the ones that brought up the spot in only one category not me. I refuted their statement because they stated that the sniping addon does nothing different than searching in one category, that’s their false statement not mine.
Go make some more bait threads or whatever it is you do, debating isn’t one of them.
It’s also why you ignored the entire rest of the post, because you would’ve had to admit the differences between regular AH searching and snipe addons.
Half your post was spent insulting that person (like most posts you make), the other half was whining about an addon parsing and sorting data it receives from scanning.
If you think an addon should be incapable of parsing/sorting data, then feel free to post in the UI forum about it.
Since you want to ‘walk the line’ feel free to quote any direct insult. There wasn’t a ‘direct’ insult. Further, ‘half’ is a lot of text and I doubt there’s even IMPLIED for half a post~Not to mention you would have to prove for ‘most of my posts’ as well. Rules for thee but not for me though, I bet.
You mean like all of your posts are troll-baiting because you never want to read the threads?
If you read Fox’s thread you would know they’re asking for Blizzard TO make it actionable, not that it IS currently actionable. But nice try! :3
Can post here about it, General Discussion is the forum for ALL feedback. It is where GMs tell you to post if you bring up your issues and if you want something changed, like policy or disallowing certain parts of addons.
Botting is already actionable, and this thread continues to look more and more like a “I can’t buy what I want at the price I want and I’m mad” thread.
Note they stated “for lack of a better word”, since you try to walk the line you should be aware that’s not directly calling them botting under the current rules.
Basically all of your ‘threads’ are something similar and you admitted, most are troll-bait. Sorry you don’t get to complain in that field at all about others threads. Now you have fun, you’ve made it clear it’s not worth even trying to engage with.
Definition of bot, even though what blizzard ‘actions’ is described differently: an autonomous program on the internet or another network that can interact with systems or users. Note the spot ‘autonomous’, considering how much automation is occurring for scans to look at stuff under certain prices and for specific items if it chooses instead of checking manually yourself… I’d say it fits, and Blizzard should include it in a policy update.
it’s even better! it’s “i pay for TUJ premium (even though i called it worthless) and am mad that the great deals that were supposed to be given to me were snatched up by somebody else”
