Telling players they can bring whatever spec they want into raids

In a way that, apparently you still don’t get.

There really needs to be a facepalm emoticon on these forums.

You CAN spec whatever you want to. It does not OBLIGATE others to play with, or carry you if you choose to be enhancement/ret/etc.

You CAN choose to be suboptimal to a raid setting, the guild is not OBLIGATED to driver your requests for gear if they see it better for an optimal spec.

You CAN choose to be ret/enhance/moonkin. No one is OBLIGATED to want to play in a guild where they have to carry you because you don’t want to spec optimally.

The outcome, you WILL eventually find a guild that will let you raid enhancement/ret. usually, these guilds fall apart OR fail to progress at any acceptable pace, as better players in the guild choose to migrate to better guilds that better suit their skill and capabilities.

You cannot fight human nature. Hunting packs roll with the best hunters, to secure food for the tribe. Weak or defected men who were intended to be with the hunter pack, are relegated to roles of the “serf”. Same applies to a game delegated and played by humans

/shrug and you apparently don’t get what I said if you think it only applies to raids.

If you say so, Mr. Druids will only get to raid if they go resto…

Yeah, but not a proper Picard.

You arent always given the option of every player under the sun. I’ve even heard world top raiders state the same thing, that they would far rather have someone who is constantly working to improve than someone who doesn’t care but outperforms the other.

You know this is all moot when you consider the fact that nobody arguing with each other over ideals will actually end up playing with those from the other side of the coin generally. The ones who want to play however will join guilds that let them do as such and the ones who want to be more optimal will do the same.

You aren’t going to “convert” anybody.

And part of working to improve is being willing to adjust your spec.

That isn’t the only way to improve. Some people can improve their own spec. Some love a class and its playstyle but they hate the meta talent build and would unsub if forced to play it. I don’t blame them for wanting to enjoy the game. I encourage people to do what they enjoy. In the end it’s up to the raid leaders as to whether or not you get into a guild. Would I accept an enthusiastic player that really wants to play an off-meta spec into my raid group? Depends on how hard I want to progress. If I’m looking to be world top then sorry bud, we cant lose efficiency. If I’m looking to be a casual raiding guild that wants to take the time to enjoy the raids and struggle a little bit, or even if I’m looking to make a semi-hardcore guild, then come along friend and stay a while.

Basically, if you’re playing an off-meta spec, don’t expect to be in a world top guild (though don’t think it’s impossible either).
If you just want to play what you enjoy and raid at an okay pace, then go for it! Even with an off-meta spec, with a lot of work you can still pull your weight easily.

i never raided in vanilla, a year after that story i was a raider in BC, when i asked my friend about that ragnaros fight he said…

“well, we had a core of 25 - 30 that are good, and we would bring any 10 people to fill up spots, the entire core group was there that night so they hardly needed me”

That’s how it goes. The night of my story I asked my friend after if he always half a*sed his raids (I had only ever raided on a warrior tank prior to that and very minimally). He said “Yeah, you don’t really need 40 for MC/ONY, or 25 for ZG.” I responded with: “Well damn, I guess going tank was the wrong choice.”

You know some hoops are designed like that.
Doesn’t mean they can’t work and wow classic wasn’t design to function only under a perfect spec.
Most none min max spec should work and will it is all on the player following mechanics. I mean you could probably go out of your way and choose the worst etc you want and use the wrong abilities and become a huge burden and fail on purpose.

If you enjoy and want to play the most optimal classes in the most optimal way, go ahead. Find other people who like the same. Play with them, raid with them and have fun in the game.

If you enjoy and want to play a class in a viable way. Go for it, find players that feel the same way, group/raid and have fun in the game.

I dont understand why people make this harder than it has to be.

Pretty much you can raid in every spec. The only ones who would say otherwise are stick up the bum tryhards. Obviously some specs are better that others, but they can all get the job done. We had pretty much every class and spec you can think of in our raids when I played Vanilla.

Now, overall group balance is still important, so if I’m building a raid and I’ve got several druids already for healing, I’m not likely to take a feral druid over a rogue. But that’s what raid organization is for. Peoppe sign up to save their spot ahead of time and if they show up they are in. The rest gets filled with whatever we need to round out the group.

As a hybrid who wants to dps in raids, don’t you dare tell me how to spec and play. Nobody should be told how to play, nobody that is except the hybrids who actually heal in raids.

You have to spec as heals, and only take healing gear. You also have to work harder in raids as now there will be less people healing. You will be burning through mana quicker, and so will have to farm more consumables outside of raids. This will take 3 times as long in your healing spec, healing geared state.

Oh, and don’t you dare complain on guild forums.

Don’t you dare leave THIS guild, to join one who treats you better, who doesn’t make you work like a dog.

Just shut up and heal.

Oh, and noone is allowed to tell ME to shut up and heal.

Most guilds raid 2 days a week which leaves 5 days to farm as dps spec in the dps gear u got from raids as a healer or u can just farm strat in a group and yes you’ll be healing. Most people playing classic won’t ever make it past the twin emperors despite how eAzY tHe GaEM iZ pepelaugh
