TBC was never designed for players to be able to buy gold. You don’t get to jack up the game for others just because you want to be lazy. Gold buying scuffs the economy. Just look at how Classic was impacted by RMT and bots.
You’re one of the most self-centered people I’ve come across.
Psychological projection is a defense mechanism in which the ego defends itself against unconscious impulses or qualities by denying their existence in themselves by attributing them to others.
People still bot in retail but the economy is much less fragile due to the way the auction house is handled in retail. Bots are present but significantly less noticeable.
You see a bot in retail and you kinda just shrug.
You see a bot in classic and you’re filled with seething rage because you know they’re having a direct impact on the gaming experience.
At this point the WoW token is barely even about the bots, honestly it’s just a bonus at this point. At this point the WoW token is to just keep things fair for everyone.
I have 120k gold that I didn’t cheat to obtain, but would be 100% happy to depart with if blizzard would wipe the entire economy to Zero without any hesitation and ban the gold buyers for a time. Perhaps strip all their epics, mounts and pets too.
Also pera ban the botter accounts and their battlenet accounts too.
It blizzard was serious about cracking down on the RMT I would happily trade all my gold for it. I am under no delusion that my gold is clean; I got 98% of it selling herbs and things on the AH.
Yeah thanks, that’s awesome to hear. Game needs more people like yourself. I thought I was kinda a ‘bad-A’ because I was over here with like 12K gold and I just don’t want it going into TBC honestly.
I would be completely fine if they just wiped everyone’s gold or just made it so that people don’t take their gold into TBC.
Honestly it would be a pretty decent marketing strategy on their part since more people would buy the character clone service to keep all their hard earned gold on Classic. I know they like money. (Though correct me if I am wrong? Maybe the clone service is free, or maybe the first one is?)
Not sure how it works, but an economy reset really is needed. I didn’t think so months ago when people were promoting it originally but after playing horde long enough it sunk in just how dirty the money is due to all the gold DKP groups with obviously purchased gold. A big portion of them are raid loggers who legit don’t play outside of raid nights so their gold is in no way possible legit. I know for certain that I have some of their gold in my coffers even alliance side because like many on my server they also have 2 accounts and play both factions, and transfer money to the underpopulated alliance side.
Blizzard just needs to bite the bullet and wipe the economy.
I would laugh pretty hard if Blizzard did a last minute gold wipe before going into TBC. Mainly just because I have maybe 100g to my name. I know I play mage don’t judge me! I had assets at one point! I gave away 10k+ worth of flasks, herbs, and and raid consumes when I stopped playing.
Couldn’t agree more honestly, the gold is just too sticky and the economy is just too far gone.
Most hands off & fair approach they can do is just add WoW tokens but I don’t really want that. Would strongly prefer they just nuke / shrink the gold.
I would rather have fresh servers. Holy crap it would be great.
Give us TBC pre-patch for 3-6 weeks… Give us time to hit 60 on 1-2 characters… Level professions… Get some basic gear… Get a mount… Get a bit of gold… And then boom. Ship TBC. Nothing would make me happier.
Supported way to get gold, gold sellers will get rekt.
People are complaining about illegal gold being a problem in TBC (and yet no one could give 1 reasonable explanation on how it would destroy the game like they are talking about).
Retail is RIDICULOUS with bots/RMT. Years of Blizzard selling gold has shown the token does nothing to stop any of that.
As for a supported way to get gold… I suggest you earn it the way the game was designed.
So tired of lazy players who really don’t want to put in the effort, just want to be handed everything. There’s a game out there that will probably suit you better. It’s called retail.
“Nothing” to stop that is just flat wrong. Every player buying gold through WoW tokens is one who is not buying gold through RMT which leads to less bots. RMT still exists anyways because of blizzards refusal to perma ban gold buyers so people are willing to risk a 1 week ban to save some money on gold.
Botting is already out of control in classic, popular grind spots have bots 24/7 and bots often don’t even attempt to hide themselves.
WoW tokens reduce the amount of illicit gold being bought as people buy tokens instead, there is objectively less RMT than there would be without unless you consider WoW tokens RMT (in which case even bringing up the point is pointless).
There is a botting problem right now in WoW in general as there has always been. Honestly the problem is probably worse than in Oldschool RS, kind of sad to see.
