I could do it…if I didn’t just literally do it and am in the process of playing all those toons right now. I’ve beaten some games 5+ times, but I don’t beat it and then immediately start playing it again. In this case, it’s like being told here’s an expansion pack and you have to start all over again.
I’d rather just wait for WoTLK and go back to retail lol.
I want what’s best for Classic and TBC servers. It’s a hard concept to truly understand and I don’t blame you for not being able to wrap your head around it. A lot of people think it’s as simple as cloning characters over and people that want to play Classic will play Classic, and those that want to play TBC will play TBC, but it’s not. You have to do everything possible to retain the integrity of Classic servers to ensure they don’t die. Making the barrier of entry for TBC servers high increases the chance of Classic servers maintaining longevity. There has to be balance, otherwise you won’t have a Classic relm to ever return to.
I know it’s a hard concept for you to “wrap your head around” but for a lot of us, classic has become TBC waiting room where we get our alts to 60, get first aid, professions, etc. Can you “wrap your head” around people like me not wanting to spend another 400+ hours doing those things on say, 3 different characters?
Edit: I don’t know why you’re so afraid to lose classic players to TBC. People will get bored of classic without TBC, and trying to make TBC classic fail with this silly “everyone restart xd” isn’t going to stop it from happening.

Fine by me. I am literally of the opinion Classic should just push to TBC and then to WoTLK. Then wipe the slate and restart it. That’s a solid 6 year playspan of content.
I’m a Software Architect at Microsoft.
You can claim what you like. The process is easily doable. And it would be done in a test environment prior to deploying into Production.
Since you are a Software Architect, maybe you could enlighten me from a technical perspective why you don’t think this would be able to happen successfully.

No, you want what you think is best for classic at the expense of TBC. It’s not hard to understand. I think what you suggest will damage both classic and BC as many people simply quit both games.

Blizzard should just allow server transfers from Classic servers to TBC servers for free then after one month shut it down then charge $25 per transfer. I bet all those who decided to remain on Classic servers will still complain how transfers killed their server and they have no one to play with… Please quote me in Dec. when TBC drops!
I plan on playing nothing but TBC. I don’t care about Classic anymore. All I’ve wanted was TBC from the very beginning, however I know that people will continue to only play Classic. I want what’s best for the Classic community in the long run so that it doesn’t die out.
I don’t care what happens to classic only servers. I don’t care if they die. I’m a nice guy so I hope blizzard makes some effort to give them a place to play. But not at the expense of my game play. I want at least all my 60’s, preferably all my alts, to move to a BC server. I’ll quit if I have to start over from level 1

Anyways, maybe a couple servers of different options this time around, from wha tis discussed. You take your chances.
Then come and complain on the forums of the injustice of it all.
How about no?
Private servers did all kinds of crap we don’t need on official ones.
It’s simple. Just consolidate those who wish to stay in Classic onto dedicated servers and let everyone else progress.
Do a double whammy. Have some servers where they can transfer existing chars over but have other servers where they start from scratch with all content unlocked and we can have a genuine race to see which guild can go from lvl 1 to clearing Naxx first. That might retain some genuine interest in Classic amongst those who’d rather just progress, rather than trying to force them to remain.
No, it was easier.
Not at first, but as subscriptions boomed and also as they were planning for wrath, they did employ some faster leveling, up to a certain point.
I forget what level it tapered off at, but the idea was to speed you on your way towards hellfire.
I want to say 45 or 50, but i could be way off base there.
None once TBC becomes a commercial operation.

any server that involves abandoning my current classic character can GTFO
no fresh, no forced re-roll. just copy every single classic server to a TBC section of the launcher and thats it.
if people wanna move over to TBC they can, if they not they stay on classic.
if im forced to reroll i will quit raiding / PvP RIGHT NOW. cuz it will all be for nothing once TBC launches.

I hear of all these people wanting to quit if they have to relevel again. I completely understand. I dont even have a 60 on classic yet. However, I would love you see you guys back this up, TBC doesnt need to be rushed. FRESH is still an option, just like classic servers moving onto BC servers sucks to me, but its still an option.
It does make sense because they are two different games. Which is why this is my back-up plan, in case Blizz wants to goof on the Classic Server data one-time clone upon the release of TBC.
There are pre-level 58 and pre-outlands content/material/features that you won’t find in Classic:
-Blood Elves/Draenei
-Jewelcrafting
-Guild Banks
Some people’s mistakes is thinking that BC means taking a level 58 and playing in Outlands, right away, when that’s not true. If it were, where was my 58, when I began in BC?
