This is largely why everyone hates the pre-naxx tiers of classic for how easy they are. Imagine if druids had to spec 31 points to get innervate for bwl.
Why donât they have fresh servers and character copies for options? Then everyone is happy.
Tbc wonât kill classic. The die hards will keep playing while everyone else will move on to something else, whether itâs tbc or a different game.
Itâs already happening on my server as getting pugs is much harder than it used to be.
Agree, but even if it did, thatâs fine. Each person has a say in themselves and not others. If mass people want TBC and that makes Classic dead, then be happy those people are happy.
Stop trying to control others.
How am I controlling others?
I donât mind them making fresh TBC servers ONLY if they first address the current servers⌠there are too many that are in bad states, either no players or insane imbalances.
You earned that gold in classic. You can keep it and use it in classic. But no you shouldnât be able to copy over that gold to tbc.
Maybe 200g for the entire account. It sets an even playing field at the start which is more valuable than your individual want to by a flying mount.
I think we can agree a gold limit is a must. Or people could copy over 100k and just own the economy on a new server from day one.
Also, farming for something that hasnât been given a release timeframe by Blizzard and your concern with how your farmed classic gold might not make it to TBC is laughable.
That costs money. Shareholders want money. These things cannot coexist.
And, fresh start servers would likely be ghost-towns because people arenât going to start over. Donât act like you all will. You would straight up quit your job if they rolled out a new division and said they were resetting you back to your initial pay-grade and position.
Plus, it was either late TBC or Wrath that they changed it so all new realms started with the AQ Gates open. This would mean, eventually, âfresh startâ servers could never have Scarab Lords. - Thatâs a huge turn off for most because the mount is the most unique mount this side of Cata.
Additionally, no oneâs going to want to throw away their: Thunderfury, Hand of Rag, or Corrupted Ashbringer. Just because some players have enough gold to get Epic Flying right now.
And, finally, fun fact: Most of us already have our ecommerce plans laid out for TBC. The only thing âfresh startâ will do is delay us by a couple of weeks.
So you want blizzard to ruin people who saved gold for TBC simply because YOU didnât?
Ya no, I earned and saved gold for TBC. I enjoy classic but Iâll enjoy TBC more.
Internally, Blizzard already knows that too many will quit from not wanting to level 1-60 in order to do 60-70. Fresh will not be the only option. You will be able to continue your classic characters in TBC. And they lived happily ever after. The end.
What if Bliz limited the amount of gold allowed to be carried over to the characters on the tbc servers. What do you think of that?
I would not be against a reasonable limit per character, but that limit should not be less than what they limit per character for a character transfer. 200g per character as the person I responded to suggested would be far less than what I would consider reasonable.
Gold transfer limits specific level ranges are as follows: Level 10-30 can transfer with up to 100 gold . Level 31-50 can transfer with up to 500 gold . Level 51-60 can transfer with up to 2000 gold .
This is the current paid character transfer limits, and would be reasonable for TBC transfers. But 200g for a lvl 60 is not reasonable.
Edit: to add onto this letâs say blizzard does a full copy of your classic character list and you have 3 level 60s. One has 5000g the other two have 1000g each. And no bank alts, exc on the account.
3 level 60s would allow 6000g to be transfered based on the current character transfer rules. So blizzard should let the 1st character transfer with 5000g, the second with 1000g and then cut off the last 1000g as it exceeds the total 6000g that account should transfer with or some combination that still results in 6000g transfered and 1000g lost to the void.
It should be looked at a total of what is on that account and realm instead of individual characters because some players (myself included) have multiple characters but most of it is on one character.
- 20~ servers
15~ servers with character copies option
5~ servers with fresh start
There is a gold limit. Itâs whatever the gold cap is. Outside of that, we do not need anything else.
So what⌠those of us who played tbc pservers get a massive leg up compared to everyone else?
There will be no transfers, per multiple Blizzard developers. If TBC is released, everything will be fresh start.

TBC will be a seperate client so a seperate game. Just as current and classic are not tied
That doesnât address the reward from âexploit early, exploit oftenâ situation.
I would say perhaps a naked character copy, no bank, no gear, no items, but maybe with 100 gold max. That seems fair.
Not all gold is gained from exploits.
