TBC Classic and how it can be done right

How is loosing all the gold and effort I’ve put into the game making up a reason? That is the reason.

I won’t be playing Classic when BC comes out. So anything left on a classic server is gone. And what does “Playing Classic for Cassic” even mean? I’m playing a game and enjoying it. Who are you to judge?

And again. Why would I keep logging into Classic when I have BC? The whole point of an expansion is further progression of a character.

That is why we have expansions. To keep going on. Otherwise might as well play a new game each time.

Trying to piecemeal together some sort of Frankenstein’s Monster to make things balance just ends up with everyone loosing.

Why are people so obsessed with limiting our characters? Just let it ride.

The standard is a continuation of classic to BC (source: 2007). People had 5k gold for epic flying back then and will the next time. Why is it a problem? You’re getting pretty worked up about it.

If you don’t have 5k now, do you magically think you will understand the economy later?

Your entitlement to transferring your characters to a game that doesn’t exist is palpable.

Great. If you have 4 60s and 5K+ gold that means you have over a hundred plus days /played.

You will have plenty of time to do the same in TBC. More then enough time.

A BIG reason expansions were popular was because they reset things. People like to know that if they go into something new, that others won’t have hundreds of days ahead of them in the economy and other aspects of the game.

Seriously, you play more then enough to build another stockpile if you can’t keep your current one.

What is the point of having that much gold in Classic? Its excessive.

Unless you’re playing Classic because you feel that you should be entitled to bringing over your Classic account to a TBC classic.

Because you really should play Classic for Classic.

Oh… i dont know? Maybe the servers economy? Starting TBC with 5-10k gold is a massive advantage and allows someone to control the market unfairly.

This is an unusual case, though. WOW Classic will not be furthering progression. At least not unless they use the option from the survey of making new WOW Classic-only realms and letting some people copy off to those rather than move on to TBC.

I loved TBC. I’m looking forward to TBC Classic even though I know it will have issues. But that doesn’t make me blind to the fact that there are other players who do not, who have no interest in the further progression. (In fact, chasing that forever-moving finish line is what turns a whole group OFF of Retail WOW, and even TBC Classic. Working hard to gear fully in T3, when there’s T4, T5, and T6? Why bother.)

Wait, why is entitlement being brought up, WHEN THE STANDARD IS CONTINUING OUR CHARACTERS.

Diablo and World of Warcraft expansions have never started fresh. Have gear / levels changed? Sure. But you still play the same character. You know, the one you have been attached to?

It is YOUR entitlement to want a fresh start.

That is how it works, you are wanting something different than the standard.

There are a few options going into TBC that would appease everyone. I’ve seen so many of these threads and I see so many selfish people who are advocating for options that only appease themselves because they know they won’t have thousands of gold and amazing gear going into TBC.
Don’t like it? Well i’m sure blizzard will have a fresh level 1 start TBC server or two for you.
The rest of us will want to take our hard earned gear, rewards and gold with us, just like we did in 2007. That’s authentic and that’s the classic experience going into CLASSIC TBC.

Good job avoiding my question on why you need that much gold.

Your entitlement is showing.

Because items cost that much, happy?

5,000 gold. For “items”.

Going to need a bit more information on what items you’re buying that requires a 5,000 stockpile.

Better yet, just make a full clone of each Vanilla Classic server. That prevents players from duping gold with pre-transfer trade shenanigans. Why do you want to force everyone back to ground zero?

Edgemasters, black lotus, flasks, rare recipes (bottomless bag), Teebu’s. GDKP runs, saving up now so I don’t have to farm consumables later. These are all uses for large sums of gold.

Can you get by without thousands of gold? Yes. Should you have to? No.

Those are illegal so no bueno.

Maybe if you buy a couple of them.

Again, if you are buying enough for a raid to flask.

You’ll need more then 5,000 gold for that one pal.

So as you can see, a 5,000 gold stockpile is very very limited in what issues it actually can address.

The biggest most notable gold dump is an epic mount just under 1,000 gold. Saving up more then that you’re looking for a very very small part of the game that very few actually experience.

Now when does it make sense to save 5,000 gold… maybe for something that doesn’t exist in Classic.

But hey, you can buy Flying at level 30 soon in Retail!

First off, nothing in this game is illegal. It may be against TOS, but you are not going to jail.

Secondly, GDKP are fine.

I don’t know your angle. Are you just talking to talk? You have not given an acceptable answer to why we need fresh servers for every expansion. What if I want a fresh server for every content update? That’s the direction I want the game to go because I’m going to throw a crybaby fit. Is that fair? No, that is stupid. The game should go on as it has.

Correct.

Incorrect. You can’t do GDKP runs in NA or EU.

That’s not nice coming from someone who is clearly confused.

People had well more than that back in the day. So… #nochanges?

Flying cost 5k. If you play more than one character, that is 5K x n.

Having 10k saved up for BC launch means my two primary characters will be able to enjoy that so much faster.

No, they are not.

I just want to transfer my 60 to TBC, and not look back. Back when TBC was released, I took my 60 to the outlands.

What are you talking about? Expansions didn’t reset things. This is the same character I started 15 years ago in original wow.

Go try to create a GDKP run and see how long it takes til a GM whispers you.

I’m starting to doubt you have what you say you have. You’re very uneducated on alot in this thread.

Where is a source saying they will get you banned?
I have seen where they are not supposed transactions and may result in being scammed, which Blizzard will not assist with. That is hardly the same thing.

Why do you not answer my questions?
