Targeted Corruptions and Faster Cloak Empowerment

Umm, wow as a Rogue main with no alts i have 0 and am therefore screwed - Bravo on yet another stupid lack of foresight. Now thought of us with no alts in same situation get to sit back and grind out even though we’ve been doing visions and events non stop - Bliz really is a class act in how to not think ahead.

Here’s the rub. We were ineligible because we worked too hard not because we didn’t continue to work. We kept working for no currency while everyone else who didn’t work too hard continued to get currency.

It’s even more of a soft nerf because we’ll be able to put corruptions on pieces of gear that have good secondary stats. A lot of people are wearing gear with crap stats because they have good corruptions on them. No longer.

This just completely cancels out the whole change seriously great got 625 but now you have to do 5 assaults.
I have even less of a reason to bother with them than before.
Unless you plan on dumping them out on top of a daily quest reward it fails hard.
This is even worse time played shoddy metrics very disappointing nothing is account wide; no reason to run LFR on a geared toon which is why LFR is a dumpsterfire.

They probably will not but at least there is time for them to reverse course.

All echoes acquired up till now were meant for the purchase of essences alone, so zeroing out the currency makes a ton of sense. Why the announce came last night and only gave the playerbase a short time to spend all their echoes made little sense, could have been announced on Friday.

So:
-Skip the hotfix with this maintenance;
-Apply it on Thurs/Fri this week, zero out echoes on everyone;
-Fix the corruption vendor;
-Fix the cleansed item issue;

Are there any plans to nerf certain corruptions (gushing/tentacles for example)? I’m afraid of wasting echoes on corruption that will get nerfed a few days later. On top of that, it basically ruins that entire gear piece since we can’t overwrite corruptions (yet).

What are you talking about? If you want rank 3 essences on alts, this doesn’t change anything for you in regards to how long you need to get them.

All this changes is now they can price the corruption differently depending on what they are.

But rank 3 essences are still the same relative price that they were.

The prices are going up what are you talk about.

I’m sure they will do a balance pass on corruptions. Since they are now vendor bonus, it’s less of a punishment if they nerf your corruption that you “earned” from RNG before.

The only way you are losing is if you currently are sitting on 450 echoes and were about to buy a new one but didn’t. (and they said hurry to get them before the change).

Other than that, ALL SOURCE of echoes is x5. meaning it takes exactly the same amount of time to get essences.

Source x5 and Cost x5 = Same difference.

Yes, but I saw posts by people who are up to 25 K. So some people, who kept getting the echoes unlike me, are at 15-25 K; so they have that much of a head start. They are already one rank 3 corruption ahead.

How it was coded was that if you did not have any rank 3 essences to purchase you never received Echo drops. My main has all rank 3 essences across all the specs, with the exception of Ripple in space, and none of my alts has Ripple. Thus I had nothing to buy so I never got these as a currency.

Please remove the guaranteed corruption from M+ and horrific visions rewards then until you fix the ability to corrupt items that have been cleansed, because getting a high ilvl item with a guaranteed random corruption now has a high probability that those items will be strictly less valuable.

If the corruption they want is available in week 1.
If you don’t already have your best corruptions.
If they have a gear piece ready to corrupt.
If they actually have 15k-25k echoes.
If they play more than you on 1 character that already surpasses yours in progression.
If we know all the corruption costs.
If all stars align.

The WHOLE point of Essence catch up mechanic was just simply that, a “catch up”. This is not catching up by increasing drops and cost of Essences. Why is 500 Echo’s still unreasonable to Blizzard? The system is not broke. Just increase the Echo drop rate while KEEPING the cost of essences the same! Why is there a need to increase the cost from 500 to 2500? If you are going to increase Major Assault to 625, what about Weekly Caches and Emissary Rewards etc? Just because the rate of Echo’s rewarded was? It don’t make any sense any longer. Community pleaded to enable Essences ACCOUNT WIDE. How is that lost in translation from the “community” to Blizzard making these decisions and then don’t listen. No, instead, let us grind during the end of the rope of a expansion. Let’s make alt’s unfriendly again.

Granted, I’ve gotten Rank 3 Essences on my main for my alts which all 3 are good to go for Rank 3 Essences for their class/spec. Now, there’s more grind incentive for Rank 3 Corruption affixes. I’m assuming Rank 3 Twilight Devastation will have +75 Corruption correct? Or will that be a casino roll also? if so if R3 Essences are blanketed with +75 corruption, what’s stopping from someone obtaining 3, 4 or 5 Rank 3 TD to “imbue” on their gear? Only one problem…the Total Corruption amount a player can consume. So, there will be a player with lets say for example three (3) Rank 3 TD on their gear. Assuming they have Rank 15 Cloak which gives base +50 Corruption Resistance at max cloak rank. Rank 3 Corruption is base +75 corruption. Who’s going to feel pretty good walking around with +100 corruption minus the 50 corruption due to cloak resistance, not to mention other corruption pieces that are beneficial like Rank 3 Infinite Stars which is another +75 corruption slapped onto that, so now, that person is walking around with +125 corruption with three Rank 3 TD and one Rank 3 IS. This person will get one shotted with all the corruption debuff effects. Why not increase the amount of corruption resistance to the cloak so players can actually wear gear they can wear with the corruption so they are not one shotting themselves either in raid or a dungeon. It won’t be until September 8, 2020 where the maximum corruption resistance for the cloak will be 125. So, until then we’re just going to chip away for +3 corruption resistance for 16 more weeks? For me, one Rank 3 IS on my belt is enough for me whereas I have ZERO corruption. The Eye of Corruption is a PAIN for ANY melee. I can deal with Grasping Tendrils but the Eye, it triggers me.

I feel worse for the ppl that actually have two Rank 3 IS at +75 corruption and wanting to slap on a Rank 3 Gushing Wound or Infinite Stars with another +75 corruption.

If it were me, I’d imbue with:

1 Rank 3 Gushing Wound
1 Rank 3 Infinite Stars
1 Tank 3 Twilight Devastation

You have your Single Target and AoE BiS Corruption affixes for your Unholy Death Knight. I already have one Rank 3 IS, so, adding R3 TD and R3 GW would be:

+200 Corruption for three Rank 3 Corruption affixes at +75 corruption each minus 77 resistance (will be 77 resistance after reset today) which = 123 Corruption which where I would be walking around with every single debuff in the corruption effects and I will be bleeding red. I understand with great power comes with great responsibility, however, if players are going to target BiS Corruption Affixes for their toon, especially for Rank 3, how enjoyable are they going to be when everyone is bleeding red in a dungeon or raid? The incentive to obtain such corruption is nullified if players can’t enjoy them when they are getting 1-2 shotted in a dungeon or raid b/c Inevitable Doom is always active and dmg increased based on corruption level past 80 corruption. No healer is going to heal through that. I’m sorry but I’ve yet to see a full dungeon group with over 80+ corruption in a +10 or higher and survive with healing.

We need a increase in cloak resistance more than +3 per week if these corruption’s are going to be able to be purchased at a Rank 3 state. There’s no other way.

Hey I did the same activities that everyone else did. They got currency and I didn’t. Fair is fair. Make it right Blizzard.

This.

M+ cache gear should no longer be corrupted and instead award more currency.

I have a ton of 475 corrupted gear I was keeping in case Blizzard decided to swing the nerf/buff bat at corruption again. Guess I have a bunch of virtual paperweights now.

The corruption system is built around the concept of maximizing what we can tolerate having equipped around our ever-slowly-increasing resistance. That’s the crux of the system. Asking for resistance to increase rapidly would be like asking during Legion to be able to equip all of our legendaries if we want instead of just two. Sure, there’d be a big sugar rush, but as an interesting system of design, it would burn out really quickly.

Corruption is like having to reforge for hit rating and expertise rating again on steroids. There are lots of solid reasons they left that behind, but I guess they felt it was okay to go back to for a patch. The whole point is figuring out what we can handle, and holding off on using what we have until we can.

A very small handful of people are in the “advantageous” situation currently. We’re getting the bonus gains today, which means mains have a chance to catch up and get plenty in stock for the next week at very least. I’m really not concerned about it.
