Targeted Corruptions and Faster Cloak Empowerment

Pretty sure you can’t “carry on” those 2 pages for next quest. Since the quest itself is changing and those pages are linked with current quest ID. When you get the “next” quest, you will have to start from zero.

Will these drop from all the LFR bosses?

Yes. 125 per wing.

This was honestly an entertaining thread to read through.

So we’re not going to do anything about the fact that some corruptions are way overpowered, but now they’re going to be really mandatory because everyone will have them?

What happened to the concept that we should be able to get a good idea of how powerful gear was by looking at the ilvl?

Overall it is just a soft-nerf to raids and mythic+. Since everyone will have access to strongest Corruptions.

Or maybe they intend to nerf some corruptions this way they don’t feel bad about taking them “away” from people who have “farmed” the rng on their current gear.

How do you loot echos if you play one character?

This is my only issue. It’s great that all the folks who love to play alts, or who don’t bother with doing everything on mains have a ton of these things laying around to use up immediately. But for those of us who are more the “completionist” type, who do everything on a main, it will feel quite punishing to have to start from scratch because we worked on every essence on a single toon and could not get this currency.

I don’t think the currency earned should just be tossed, but I do think there should be something available for folks who had every essence and were not able to earn these at all.

Other than that, it’s a nice change.

While this is a welcome change, for someone who cannot raid mythic due to scheduling conflicts my only source of 470 or better gear comes from horrific visions and m+ caches. Both of these sources are guaranteed corruption. If cleansed items can’t use targeted corruptions then I have no way to use this new system except for targeting lower ilvl items that drop directly from +14s and +15s.

A quick fix for me would be for you to just revert the change that guarantees corruption on horrific vision loot and m+ caches. Then at least I have a chance of getting a non-corrupted 470+ item.

Currently, you can’t. The system in-game won’t give you any if you can’t buy any essences from MOTHER, but once this goes live you’ll begin getting them normally.

The fact that they have to do this now shows how much of a dumpster fire of a patch this has become.

Lets be honest…there are many ways to keep players playing WoW but this is probably the worst way possible they have chosen.

Oh look https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/news/23277654
as many of us were saying they mentioned in a post they are changing that…the sky didn’t fall, no one has a advantage because the vendor isn’t going in today, and your crying was in vain…

You can pug mythic, at least 5/12 bosses, in a all tank run.

Idea is to minimize how much of a head start alts and returning players have. Similar to titan residuum from previous seasons azerite armor giving a fraction of the cost.

As many others have stated - the only major blemish (not a fan of the random rotation) on the system is that people who earned all rank 3 essences are really left behind in this system. It may not be much due to the 5x inflation but it still may mean being able to buy a few corruptions on day 1. The players who never got to earn essences (I had all rank 3s when the system came out so I couldn’t even speculate and not buy the last one to earn the currency) will be behind day 1.

I suggest that the currency that would have been earned by the affected players be rewarded retroactively. if that can’t be done - check who was able to accumulate the most (all time) and give that amount out to players who had all rank 3s by the roll out of the system. Better to overcompensate those that put in the effort, rather than short change them. That or all currency should be redeemed for some silver like Titan Residuum so everyone starts with a clean slate.

No, because you are short changing those that have it. You can’t give people more for the same stuff. You start at 0, the vendor isn’t in today and you have time to get echoes now, no one is getting an advantage now, the world isn’t ending, and everything is fine.

The change to essences is today. But the corruptions won’t be available yet, giving you much time to start accumulating.

Those that have it will be getting what they have so they’re not short changing them. This is if like bank customer #1 had a $965 balance, and bank customer #2 has a $100 balance. The bank 0’s out customer #1’s balance but keeps #2’s just fine. How is it fair to leave the balances at 0 and $100? Not a perfect example I know since it’s not real money, but that’s kind of what this feels like. You can say it’s no big deal but if you’re on the short end of the stick it doesn’t feel good.

but nothing was stolen in this instance. Your analogy is blizz zeroed out your account of echoes, when it didn’t. You were just ineligible to earn any. Now, you can. It is more like you are late to being able to invest in the stock market, and now you can. You want free money for doing it, because you followed the stocks, but couldn’t invest, and everyone else could. That isn’t right. You have the same chance now to get it, everyone else that didn’t max their essences out has the entire time, which you had advantage of with getting higher ranked essences and such when we played on our alts to vary our gameplay. Still fair, still even, and you are not screwed over in any way.

The latter would make sense, but they didn’t say anything about it.

“Everyone” will have access to the strongest corruptions if they play frequently and keep up with what is on the vendor, which will need to be checked twice a week at the correct times. Let’s not forget about having to keep track of what gear has been cleansed and what came without corruptions, since cleansed gear can’t have corruption added through the vendor.

With limited play time, I feel like it makes the cloak grind even more mandatory, taking away from the time I have available for the parts of the game I find fun.
