Targeted Corruptions and Faster Cloak Empowerment

please consider removing the “must kill nzoth on normal difficulty or higher” requirement to the second corruption upgrade past rank 15 for non-caught up characters, doing that on alts every week just isn’t feasible.

It’ll cost 2,500, not 25,000.

Because the cost of essences are about to go up by 5x.

As someone with 12 alts with cloaks (but really no desire to max them all out - I’m not that insane), frankly upping the cost for level 3 essences doesn’t help anything. At the very least, the cost should be reduced for every level 1 essence your toon already has. So let’s say level 3 is 1500 currency, If you have a level 1 version of the essence, it’s 1000, if you have level 2, it’s 500 - and have that apply for all spec-essences on that character.

The engagement is NOT in collecting YET more currency. It’s in getting having the essence and being able to leverage it in content.

The way I would have this play out is this:

5000 currency for a rank 1 essence if you never acquired the essence.
600 currency for level 3
400 currency if you already have a level 2 version of the essence
200 currency if you have a level 1 version of the essence.

This gives players options - they can either do the content and get the new essence for free, or buy a new essence. But you reduce the cost for alts because you really don’t want players to be playing alts at the same time sink as their mains. You want to allow players the opportunity to ramp up an alt quickly.

I don’t really know how to make this more clear - players get more engaged the faster they can get alts into the content they just wrapped up on their main. Players see that they paid their dues on their first class. The more Blizzard facilitates players fast-tracking alts, the more alts those players will make and the more engaged many players will get in end-game content. Making players put the same thousand hours into each alt that they did on their main isn’t going to solve the problem.

I don’t see how making 5 times the number of currency drop then increase the cost of the item by 5 times saves anything. You were better off with Benthic gear - with a really low barrier to entry and a reasonable upgrade price. It was a model easily sustainable on 11 alts while allowing me to focus on my main.

That still doesn’t solve the problem. Not even close. Are we being retroactively awarded the echoes we already missed, at 5x the rate?

That is still not even close to worth it. Just reset the currency like you reset TR.

Because if you already have some echoes banked, you’ll end up spending 5x more for the same thing if you wait until this change rolls in.

A much needed addition to say the least, but the currency costs are mind boggling and really puts into perspective how OP TD is.

Being punished for having all of my essences prior to Echoes being a thing and thus not being able to get Echoes is a very, very terrible feeling.

EXACTLY, my point for coming here. If this was planned, and in the works the entire time, why didn’t “mains” get these echoes for all the kills/bgs/etc they have been running? I have dozens of kills from LFR to Heroic in Nyalotha after having rank 3’s across the board.

I don’t play alts other than 1) casual professions or 2) transmog runs on old content. That’s it. Either create a new version of “Echoes”, or prorate the existing currency based on the content that we have already completed on our main. That way it is a fair system.

Which is cool, but, here have been concerns raised about capped out mains who haven’t earned echoes at all, because they have all their essences. Would it be feasible (I know it is -possible-) to give them the essences they would have earned retroactively? It’s not a big number anyway, with the new system increasing costs and all, but it is much, much better than leaving them at zero and having them feeling cheated because they alt less than some other people.

Edit: I should add I am not one of those players. I have more alts than I know what to do with and earn essences even on my main, because I have not bothered to purchase all of the heart upgrades.

Too little too late. I’m unsubbed and on FFXIV probably until Shadowlands. After I got the cloak to 15 on my main, WoW became as stale as the potato chips my mother and father hoarded for years and they still keep saying they’re good chips just a little old.

Why would they do that ? In any case, I have been gradually working on doing the emissaries for the echoes and if I can’t buy essenses with them I can’t see what value any of this is for me.

Thank you so much for this, another thing you could add with the buff is an increased amount of Residuum gained so we can get all the azerite we want now that its end of tier/xpac.

On behalf of fire mages everywhere, thank you so much!

If both the costs and the drop rates of the echoes change, what’s the point? That’s frustrating for those who have 450 and are waiting for next week to get more.

Also, that cloak part rocks, excited to upgrade it!

Few issues other wise it’s good:

  1. Corruption prices are too expensive even with the echoes buff
  2. The whole being unable to recorrupt cleansed items though that’s a bug. Prioritize fixing it.
  3. People who obtained all rank 3 essences effectively stopped acquiring Echoes, making them behind.
  4. PVP. Reduce the effectiveness of all corruption in PVP please, it’s too much.
  5. Apparently it’s a rotation stock? Thought you guys learned that unnecessary RNG is bad. Have everything available.

THANK YOU!!!

Please? It’s already going to take until September to max out the cloak corruption resistance. With the limit on 2 Malefic Cores per week if under curve, any character that starts a rank 15 cloak in mid June will not be able to catch up by September. It would be great if we could get as many Malefic Cores from full objective completions of Horrific Visions as we can afford entry into (up to the current curve). It’s already been weeks of grinding to catch my alt up to my main on this front and I only started that character a few weeks behind.

Why not remove all echoes (like was done for Titan Risiduum) or just make a new currency? This feels really bad having thousands of echoes stockpiled on alts, potentially enough to buy a lesser corruption on day 1, but none on my main. This will lead to a frustrating patch day for altoholics (whom this change seems intended for).

Why? This just needlessly complicates things. Please just put every corruption effect on the vendor at all times like is done for essences. If you really want, put tokens on the vendor that just give random corruptions, but don’t have an arbitrary semi-weekly rotation of corruption options. Imagine if you just couldn’t buy an Azerite helm with Titan Risiduum this week?

Things are about to get pretty spicy on my fire mage.

why does this need a rotating stock? Just put them all on a vendor. Also what is guiding that pricing? you’ve got 3 rank three corruptions listed at 3 different prices.
