Targeted Corruptions and Faster Cloak Empowerment

You know, they’ll probably make it so you can get echos when they push this change through…

You won’t be that far behind other people who have been getting echos either, especially since you’ll be earning them at 5 times the current rate.

i think people might be confusing echoes with coalescing visions

I totally agree a catch up system is great. I just want them to address the “Main with no r3 essences to learn” and Echoes earning issue.

Nope, I don’t have any echoes because i had all lvl 3 for 6 months it seems.

I think they should just make it so if you already had the essence on an another character, the cost stays at 500 for an alt. If you don’t have it yet, 2,500 and lets you buy it without having had it.

Then you can get through the essences you want and move on to corruptions.

true to that, but If you saw my first reply you will understand the issue.

If there’s a expensive Corruption available on week 1, alts can buy it right away, main can’t. which is another 3.5 weeks behind

No you dont have any Echoes because you have no alts that have a r3 Essence that your main can learn.

You could have level a healing alt and get any healing essence.

So, since I can’t earn any now and have none stockpiled, I am screwed?

This is the exact issue I have run into with a few friends who have not played since s1 or s2 of BFA.

None of this catch up really matters if you are still unable to quickly get the essences you need, for returning players at least.

If by “screwed” you mean “a few days behind the doomsday preppier level people”, then sure.

Um no. A DH doesnt have a healing spec, so there would be no essences available to the DH to learn. Just dps and tank.

That is the problem with this beta xpac, it is 100% dependent on you playing every patch.

A lot of people, including yourself have been repeating the notion that because Blizz is increasing the rate of Echo gain by 5x, it shouldn’t matter if people haven’t been actively farming Echos or if they weren’t eligible to get them at all if they had Rank 3s of every single essence on their main already or if they didn’t have an alt with a Rank 3 essence that their main didn’t have.

The truth is, this will make a number of competitive players fall behind when you consider the fact that they would’ve already amassed 20-40k Echoes over the last 1.5 months since its introduction. Players not being able to loot Echos due to a technicality was a huge oversight on Blizzard’s part; the reason why this was so was because if a character had all rank 3 essences to begin with, then they would have no use of the Echoes and thus would not need it at all . However, a change to this logic with the introduction of corruption puts many of us far, far, behind of our peers and is, at the end of the day, punishing people for putting in more work on their characters who are more likely than not their main characters.

While it may not seem like a huge disadvantage, this means that we are essentially 3 weeks behind (taking into consideration the 5x rate increase in Echo gain). This, coupled with the fact that the corruptions are not all available at the same time and are on a set rotation of 3 weeks, puts us potentially 6 weeks behind someone who was able to acquire Echoes.

Just to give you an idea of how far behind players can be: I play primarily with my girlfriend and we run raids, bgs, arena, mythic+, visions, etc together essentially 100% of the time. She has amassed over 24k Echos due to having a tanking spec that she does not play and therefore did not bother farming out rank 3 essences, while I’ve gone and farmed every single essence available to my class to rank 3. Had I not been gated to not receive Echoes, I should be sitting at a similar amount. 24k Echos means approximately 3 or 4 Expedient or Severe Rank 3s, which are BIS for my Shadow Spec for any situation. Additionally, say that I farm echoes for the entirety of next week when the corruptions I need aren’t available, and amass (realistically) 10k Echoes, I will be able to afford only 1 piece of the corruption that I do want the week after when it is in the rotation, after which I must wait 2 more weeks before I can purchase them again when Shadow Priests who have banked Echos cant simply purchase 5 or more pieces of corruption right away; making my character essentially non-competitive for a month.

There is no reason to not make characters who have not been eligible to receive Echoes retroactively receive the Echoes that they are owed. We did the content; we shouldn’t be disadvantaged for working on our characters more.

I have 0 echoes. I was a good boy and did the legwork in 8.2 to get the essences.

Clearly - I should have main swapped in February 2020 so I could be sitting on enough to acquire Masterful 3 on Day 1 of the “Rotating Schedule” it appears on. Instead, I’ll just hope that “Rotating Schedule” actually doesn’t mean “RNG when it appears but STAY SUBBED AND PLAYING and MAAAAAAYBE it’ll be once in 3 months!”.

Why is there a rotating schedule at all for a system you control both the ACQUISITION RATE, and METHOD OF ACQUISITION for?!? (Hint: It’s because they want you subbed til 9.0).

This system is yet another form of proof that you guys don’t play your own videogame on any level but the bare minimum.

I mean, I’m getting echoes on my DH, and the only essences he doesn’t have are the Ones he can’t get.

My main don’t have healing spec hence no healing essence. So no I still won’t have eco.

You have multiple specs/roles. My mage hasn’t gotten a single echo from any form of content. I have all the essences.

Please change this in another month or two so that we can get multiple cores in a single week (up to the current limit). Feel free to provide additional avenues for acquiring them as well.

Everything else sounds great, thanks!
