Jesus blizzard just let us buy rank 2 essences as well
what he did was get all of his rank 3 essences.
and that’s wrong? come on.
this change - and I do think ti’s a good change for many - is basically a big middle finger to everyone who got their rank 3 essences before the echoes went into play. they didn’t get ANY echoes on the character that had all rank 3s. because echoes don’t drop for a character once all rank 3s are unlocked (on that character).
then blizz comes in and puts in items you can buy with echoes?
that is absolutely unfair.

You had rank 3 essences on your toon when everyone else was working on those for their alts for the longest time. You gonna ask blizz to nerf that all, have everyone start from rank 1? You played one way, they played another and now they have something to gain a slight perceived advantage from and you want everyone punished. Note they only provided an EXAMPLE there is nothing saying that is what the first week is gonna be. You are just assuming the worst, making mountains out of molehills, all to be the aggrieved party here
There is not a single rank 3 essence my alts possesses that my main doesn’t already have.

More hamster wheels to keep junkies playing. Now you have a new infinite grind to continue on for you bis gear for each type of fight and plenty of old grinds to keep on it. I’m a bit disappointed by all of the hype this is getting as it’s just blizzard doubling down on a trash rng system to keep getting your money as were the rep and xp boosts. Doesn’t the 5x seem fishy to you guys? This is another classic bait and switch that has only gotten worse as the game continues to age.
and you had rank 3 on your toons long before those of us who were working on alts too for varying reasons had them on toons too. You aren’t punished for it, you just have to put in work we had to over the expansion, or at least since 8.2, now. That is it. You just cry now because you have to do it now, as i said above ASSUMING the BiS is gonna be there at the start. Heck it could be all trash corruptions at the start and then what? You complained over NOTHING! You are here complaining the sky is falling because the forecast calls for random sprinkling showers…

You don’t need 40k. You just need enough to buy BiS corruptions, complimentary to what you already have. If you’re a one-toon person, you need a piece or two, and let’s be real - it’s because you want to use THAT belt instead of THIS belt because you HAVE to have this or that corruption “just so”.
Meanwhile, alts are running around with 17 corruption, and none of it the right corruption.
Once again, in 3 weeks, everyone will have BiS, if it’s been on the vendor. Worst case scenario, you’re a day or two behind heavy stockpile characters. It’s NOT that big of a deal.
Edit: I get that it feels bad, but there is no math to support the level of outrage that is happening in this thread.

Tons of people complaining about not having any banked, which will be a non-issue fairly early on.
The real issue people will have with this system is the rotation of corruptions. When you finally get enough to get the corruption you want and it’s not up in the current rotation you’re going to be annoyed. Why do you have to wait X rotations to finally spend your currency where some other dude who also just saved up enough happens to want one that’s up in the rotation?
The rotation is the dumbest part of the system and what will be people’s focus once the system is out.
Just have multiple vendor categories on MOTHER. One for essences. One for stat related corruptions. One for other non-stat corruptions.
I mean it puts the echoes people have been farming to SOME use - and the scaling does a “soft” reset to the currency.
Seems like a fair middle ground.

Wellp, then, that sucks don’t it. Guess you’ll have to grind up echos when they push this change through.
Not that it’ll take long to get your desired corruptions, slap em on items you know you’re not gonna need to replace this expansion, and be done with the system completely.
Do you even play this game dude?
My main is DH and I have all my rank 3 essence for both DPS and tank. there’s literally no way for me to get echo because I obtained all the essence I could possibly have even I play other alts which I do. There’s nothing I can do to change that so please stop your ‘you made a choice’ speech.

This is also incorrect. As I mentioned in a previous post, I have 11 x 120 alts. No one can say I wasnt working on them long before 8.1. My main (mage) hasnt earned 1 single Echo since they became available… The REASON for this if you will read my posts is the system Blizz put in place. If your alts don’t have a r3 essence your Main doesn’t have, then your Main doesnt earn any Echoes.

All of this sounds good, though I wish essence costs were staying at 500 while the amount gained increased. I’ve got so many characters I want to play around with, but just going through a checklist of tasks to do on them all to get the most echoes doesn’t seem like fun. or if they were tradeable between alts or something.
This is really needed for returning players.
I have a few friends that tried coming back to the game but have already quit because of how much they would have to do to get all of the essences they need.
You really know how to screw up something that was suppose to be a good announcement. Too bad you don’t listen to your customers to know why this was failed on delivery.
