Ah the forums. I bet Taliesin will be disappointed by your measured and insightful response to this news.
You are 100% incorrect. You would only get echoes on a main under the following condition - you have a rank 3 essence on your alt that you don’t have on your main. That was fine as implemented, because you didn’t really need the currency when you had nothing to buy other than essences.
With the current changes, it basically screws over anyone that
- Plays a single toon and doesn’t play max level content on alts.
- Already put in the effort to get all rank 3 essences on their main back in 8.2.
It actually arbitrarily rewards people who were lazy and didn’t care about getting all of their essences and gives a giant middle finger to anyone that was a completionist and got all rank 3’s on their main. The person who was semi-lazy on their main now goes into tomorrow with a 30,000+ echo (and multiple BiS corruptions for free) over someone who actually played the game a lot harder for no reason at all other than lazy and half baked implementation.
While fair, I’m going to be heartbroken if my 6K echos mysteriously disappear
They did the catchup content.
Like you said you did “the content” on 8 120s.
This change with no thought for people who actually played this trashtier patch and unlocked essences when they became available shows just how out of touch Blizzard is.
YOU NEVER.
NEVER, punish peoples mains for being ahead of alts.
There are people with 40k+ echoes in my guiild. I personally have alts with 10-20k+ echoes.
Either wipe them, or retroactively give echoes to mains. If nothing is done about this I’m done man. I’ve put up with a LOT of dung this expac but this is icing on the cake. Brain dead developer.
YEAH BABY OOH HELL YEAH!!!
Look blizz this is amazing, but this should have been in from the beginning of 8.3. We get it you feel the need to milk the playerbase for monthly subs. BUT IF THE GAME IS AWESOME PEOPLE WILL STAY SUBBED REGARDLESS!!!
Thank you and please continue learn from this
I’ll just go ahead and throw out here the reason why we can’t re-corrupt items:
- Corruption re-uses the deprecated “multistrike” secondary stat from WoD as its framework for being placed on items (instead of functioning as a “second” enchant like the user experience leads us to believe)
- Multistrike was a secondary stat which is static once the item is rolled and dropped
- Cleansing items simply “disables” the multistrike secondary stat framework on that item
To be honest though this shouldn’t be too hard for them to figure out since they had an item in WoD that let you re-roll the secondary stats on crafted gear. Maybe they just never expanded that functionality to also be possible for gear that wasn’t crafted.
You didn’t read properly.
That chart was a bunch of examples. There will be more corruptions.
So my main gets to start at zero, while my alts get a headstart on corruptions from the vendor that should have been here on day 1.
Maybe send every main who received zero echoes a pity package with 5k?
I know I lost way more than that from not getting them due to the poorly implemented system, but at least it would show they know what they did and care.
I’m confused. So your main can straight up buy TD3, where as your alt will have an easier time grinding to it than your main did.
I’d hardly call that a “punishment”. Seems par for the course for “catch up” gear.
I think the issue here is just how insanely powerful these items are and how they were left up to RNG. It was literally Legion legendaries all over again.
I hope the take away from this is to stop leaving game altering stat-sticks to pure chance.
So far having made the maths, it means it will take 1-2 months to get decent bis corruption. Seems a bit too long for me when the patch is already halfway throught. Maybe make it 10x. Having a higher multiplier would also mean that old echos are worth even less, which is appropriate when you think that a lot of people couldn’t earn them even if they wanted.
My dude I’ve had all of the essences at r3 since before echoes existed. I literally cannot earn echoes on my main. I have 0 and have not been able to and cannot earn echoes.
too little too late. my main, which is the only character i still play, has zero echoes, so i guess im screwed right? because the only rank 3 essence any of my alts do have, are ones that i bought with echoes in the first place, so my main already had it, so no echoes…
The game gave the advantage to the people who didn’t do the content same as you are claiming is happening now.
Oh gotcha - didn’t realize you would stop earning them.
My main has more than he can use because there are a couple of essences I do not have at rank 3 (previous raids and pvp). Even then I don’t think there is a cap on “purchasable” ranks for me.
Yeah good call. They should probably just zero it out for everyone and give us more of a notice than 1 week.
Make it happen please, as soon as possible.
Can we please have the cap on how many malefic cores you can get per week lifted? I’m 4 weeks behind because of work and would like to be able to catch up in less than 4 weeks.
Just like that, mythic gear without corruption is more valuable than mythic gear with. “Yay, I got a boe ring, but I got screwed over because it procced corruption on it”.
Depends how you see it, them getting faster essences is fair for me because I’m not losing anything, I already got them. But with this, some people will be able to get ahead from me by buying corruptions sooner.
Well it sure would have been nice if my main had been earning echoes all this time but at least I keep from buying all the rank threes my alts had access to. Just in case echoes were turned into a currency for something else. This way they could continue to earn them until SLs came out.
