Targeted Corruptions and Faster Cloak Empowerment

No gushing wounds in the list…but they put masterful there for mages!

There’s people with 30k+ saved up. Thats enough for multiple corruptions. Meanwhile there’s others who have done a similiar amount of activities or more, who have 0 because they couldn’t earn them. Earning 20k is still going to take a fair bit of time at 5x. It’s really not fair to punish people for playing their mains and already having all their essences. Starting several corruptions behind for no reason is lame. 5x is not nearly enough, should be a full reset or something more like 10+x.

Hey guys! Great news! We found away for your alts to catch up on essences.

2 months later…

Hey guys we got a great system in place to help your characters target corruptions, oh your mains are screwed btw

LOL

I guess someone didn’t really read the post.

When this goes live, mains will be able to get echoes. The reason why they are increasing the cost of essences (and the rate you get echoes) by 5 is so alts don’t get a massive head start.

What about a faster way to get the cloak to begin with? I’m sick to death of jumping between the capitol, Magni’s encampment, Halls of Origination, and Pandland, even with using the “skip this part” option.

I’ve seen the storyline. My alts aren’t “earning” the cloak by dredging through the parts I can’t skip – it’s just a massive, blatant time-sink.

@Kaivax This is such amazing news… but could you please find a way to make one small change? BoA Vessels? I want to play more alts, but the limitation of the Coalescing Visions is rough… please? I have tons of Coalescing Visions on my main, and I don’t do more than 1 run a week for the cloak upgrade. Please allow us to transfer them to speed up the cloak upgrade and gearing process even more.

We have zero or very few because of technical restrictions and the “trick” laid out by blizz to incentivize collecting all rank 3 essences we could. We didn’t purposely choose to not get them because we wanted a clean currency tab.

Heck yeah, king. That’s what I like to hear.

5x doesn’t help at all when ppl already have 40K+ echoes.

Please Blizzard just cancel this thing entirely

Lets see… my rogue alt has 10 r3s (not counting Crucible) so that’s 5000 echoes, 2500 banked because I stopped getting essences on that character. And that’s an alt I don’t always play, so has missed out on various sources that this DH has had which didn’t award any echoes. So on the low side, since I haven’t been getting weekly chests with more echoes, and I’m down almost 8000 echoes with this change?

Now consider players running high keys and getting much more echoes weekly since Echoes were implemented – it’s not a trivial amount of echoes that mains like mine are missing out on.

Yes but how it is fair to lose the ones I earned.

You obviously don’t get it.

Mains are gonna be so far behind earning echoes, as opposed to alts.

in theory, alts are far behind to begin with. its just a bit of catch up. and might translate in them getting 1 desired corruption given the cost.
mean while the few mains that might have a lot of them saved may have a slight advantage but. thats been the nature of RNG. someone always gets an advantage. and again it translates into like 1 purchase if its the more expensive choice like a TD r3

Enjoying the salt from mains that are “punished” in this system.

Making my work day go by faster.

Might as well give every poor character 100k because it’s not fair that the millionaires have more gold.

And you don’t get that the corruption (and rank) you might want on your alt won’t show up on the vendor for a few weeks.

They would just do what they do w/ the titan residuum reset every patch.
Give you gold, take your TR (echoes).

Not sure how I feel about this one.

The exp boost and rep boost have been nice but aren’t gamechangers. They just give a little incentive to level those few toons you have left or push for that last Allied Race unlock during the content lull. No big deal.

But this?

This is what should have been in from literally day 1 of Patch 8.3. Every single time you guys throw out some garbage pure RNG mechanic, everyone hates it and cries for a more deterministic system. You acknowledged that in Legion with Legiondaries and added the vendor in a later patch.

We should never have reverted from there. Corruptions can be random as natural drops, but this vendor should have ALWAYS been there. Same deal with Titanforging. MoP (and… Cata or WoD I think? Forget which, if any) let us upgrade our gear with currency. Why did THAT go away when War/Thunderforging was expanded to Titanforging?

It’s pretty clear you’re just throwing out things you don’t actually want to do in a desperate play to keep people subbed a little bit longer with no new content coming.

And while I’m glad this system is finally coming, I can’t support it when this is WHY it’s coming.

It’s scummy.

Design things players like from the start, not when they start quitting and its time to try and hold on to them for an extra month.

All the problems that people are pointing out could be fixed by resetting all echoes to zero, but giving players a week’s notice to spend them.
