Target nameplate range cap in BGs

Please fix this bug or I hope they did not do this on purpose.

laughs in hunter sniper shot

I know a lot of people who aren’t playing because of this, and I personally find it annoying. How can a game cost 15 dollars a month, have hundreds of thousands of subscribers, and still not have people playtest updates? PvP has had the same bugs for years people exploit in rated, this new nameplate bug, people running flags outside the map in random bgs. Yet somehow it goes apparently unnoticed as less and less people play WoW PvP. I’m annoyed

I can’t even find the option to display remaining health on unit frames anymore.
Also my weapon swapping macros seem to be broken?

Tell that to all the ranged classes shooting me through terrain :expressionless:

Yeah I agree with OP you can no longer focus flag carrier or target if they are to far, fix this please.

Definitely not a fan of the range cap.

You can still see who the EFC is with Battlegroundenemies but yeah, knowing the names of the enemies only does so much. Unless someone is right near you, as far as you know they could be anywhere.

Unless you are a hunter with wall hacks in your kit or any other class casting through terrain like it isnt there.

Is there any feed back on this issue from the Company? At this point I feel like we have been ghosted. Maybe they are somewhere out there with Anduin.

At this point, I think Blizzard is mostly focused on the next expansion. They’ve probably already placed DF in maintenance mode (i.e. just make sure people can still log into the game).

This prolly related to Plunderstorm. They dont want players selectable and able to tell where that players are on the map. A shared system between Plunderstorm and Retail Wow. They spend all these months developing a pirate game without any of the pirate elements like a pirate ship battle or pirate crew. Following the disastereous Skull and Bones theme. More disaster to come.
Hopefully they dont plan to implement Plunderstorm into the core retail wow. If that were
happen, expect the name plate changes to be permenant.

This is devastating for PVP. Many players will just quit.

My hot take is that I actually kind of like the name plates this way.
We got used to being able to see that EFC is on roof from across WSG, but this makes holding the flag in unexpected locations more of a thing. There’s a phase of actually looking for the EFC that we haven’t had in ages.
It also makes it harder for groups to focus you if they know who you are and that you pump healing / damage every BG.

Well if that is the case it is sad . :frowning:

Clicking on BGE to see where everybody else is on the map is borderline cheating.

It’s easy to see who the EFC is without addons. What’s not so easy is realizing where they are unless they’re close by. But that might not be such a bad thing.

A few questions on this.

Is it borderline cheating if everyone is using it? Because anyone taking rated BGs even halfway seriously uses BGE.

Sitting bases in rated BG is extremely unfun and the only thing that can keep you sane is tracking enemy player movements (particularly stealth) so you call potential INC. Being totally blind to potential INC just turns you into a sitting duck to be victimized by stealth classes.

Also, are addons that track enemy cooldowns, interrupt cooldowns, trinket cooldown and diminishing returns also borderline cheating?

I just want to say there is no way blizzard intended to give pseudo wallhacks in battlegrounds/worldpvp exclusively to players who use addons like BGE to efficiently change targets. When they gave unlimited range name to your /target, it was because most players rely on nameplates for positioning and tracking buffs/debuffs etc on the person they are fighting. It was kind of jarring for the nameplate to appear/fade while fighting or chasing someone, so they made the range unlimited. It is why in arena, every unit has unlimited range nameplate, not just your /target.

It will likely be reverted because its 99% a bug related to Plunderstorm, but anyone who enjoys the wallhacking aspect of this feature should also support a change which just flat-out marks enemy location on the map.

Oh, you only have a problem with the nameplate aspect of BGE, but not its ability to track DR or it’s ability to give you information that you should not otherwise have such as knowing how many people are attacking a friendly target and what those classes are by looking at your friendly players debuffs even if they are on the other side of the map?

Isn’t that borderline cheating as well?

Either it is all borderline cheating or none of it is.
