hah ? are you talking about mythic plus ?
It isn’t that the “whole group isn’t enjoying themselves.”
It’s a sock puppet claiming that they aren’t having fun because they’re trying to learn to heal.
Everyone else seems to be having fun.
Yep, prime example of trash filled to the brim with mechanics that people gotta learn.
And a prime example of where going slow is faster because going fast means pulling too much and overwhelming the healer.
I mean, effing duh.
The tank sets the pace.
Keep up.
If the tank pulls beyond the group’s ability or their own, this sort of thing has a way of correcting itself naturally.
Zero need for people to make cry posts about slowing down because they want to learn.
Follower dungeons.
Adventure guide.
YouTube.
Be the change you want to see. Putting in some effort before showing up and playing the wrong way makes a lot more sense.
The guy probably had some poor experiences while trying to learn to heal recently and wanted to vent about it. Who hasn’t done that before? Some head to the forum, some vent in guild, some beat their dog (it’s a joke, don’t beat your dog).
in leveling, normal and heroic dungeons, a tank in 595+ gear (or lower I am sure) can survive just about anything in those dungeons. they are there for resources or the dungeon role bonus. they are going to move quickly.
if you are new to the healing role, you are going to need to understand threat. healing spells generate a ton of threat.
here is the actual problem in those dungeons.
a) if the tank is just face pulling everything, they are generating hate, not threat. if they are pulling and continuously hitting aoe spells (my druid can swipe all day), they will have a modest amount of threat.
b) if the dps starts unloading on the packs while they move, they will get aggro. they will take damage. you will start to heal them. you will get aggro. you will start to heal yourself more, generating even more threat. you will stop to hit yourself with your biggest heals. you will die.
instead, learn this one simple rule.
*when the tank moves, you move. when the tank stops, you stop.
do nothing until the tank gets to the kill spot they have chosen, then do your work.
And by venting, demanded that other people adjust to their play style.
Man it makes no sense. Before stepping foot in a new raid, I watch videos and check out wow head to familiarize myself with the raid.
I do the same exact thing for a new M+ season.
Heroics and normals require no research. You just show up and do them.
If not, if you’re really having trouble in that content (and I do not believe anyone is)…then put in a little effort to improve.
These aren’t unreasonable thoughts.
“Tank is going too slow!”
“Tank is going too fast!”
What do you ppl want from me???
Read your abilities so you can actually play the meta way.
And if people die, try it again, and do better.
If learning to heal, you’re likely not even needed in the content you’re doing. So people play as if you aren’t needed.
Hey, do you wanna play with me?
I’m still learning how to tank and I’ll gladly pull in a pace you feel comfortable with.
I actually did my first two mythic+0 yesterday. I just put “still learning, be nice :)” in the LFG description and we’ve gotten a really chill and supportive group, it was a lot of fun!
It’s not like anyone is going to change what they’re doing no matter how much someone demands it. Bad pugs will be bad pugs.
Ideally he should make friends with a tank and tell them he’s learning, then they can run a string of heroics together at whatever pace the healer needs.
I mean, I got annoyed at people while I was tanking heroics before mythics unlocked, so I switched to a different toon where I don’t have to deal with that. I’ll probably get back to tanking again eventually, it’s what I do best, and I’ve been doing it since BC… although I missed Shadowlands and Dragonflight, and was super casual from WoD to BFA.
This approach is the best approach in an MMO.
People don’t realize it, but it would solve a lot of problems. I mean, all of the problems really.
I simply follow the tank and do nothing till they stop moving. I don’t care if the healer does more damage than me.
I don’t mind a fast run or tank. I mind an impatient tank that can’t handle the mess they create by not being able to handle the groups they pull.
So rather than pull agro trying to get my DPS going, I follow and watch out for my healer who will eventually pull heal agro if the tank strings out the mob train too far.
They can pull all they want, if they fail to pay attention to rest of group, ill let them die. Idc if i get kicked.
If you tell them to slow down, the dps will just pick up the mobs for them.
I have done pulls that were too big and decided to slow down afterwards. People don’t like that.
Just pay attention to your healer’s mana. If you pull an entire room, chances are your healer is gonna need to drink before the next pull.
I’ve just been drinking during pulls and hoping people dont stand in bad.
Alright well you tell 'em. Tanks that are chain pulling and moving quickly in groups don’t need you regardless, so if it makes you feel better to take a position on a situation you aren’t likely to encounter…go for it.
This is the reason we need follower Heroic dungeons next. I’m so down with AI versions of pretty much everything.
So theres other forum topics about there not being enough tanks lately that are pretty popular right now. The tank has a lot on his plate, pulling fast enough, actually knowing the route and mob percentages, being expected to be top interupts, positioning mobs so no one gets cleaved or knocked off a ledge, finding a balance between defensives and keeping threat off some absolute monster dps at higher key levels when people get higher ilvls. They have people telling them what to do in dungeons saying go slower! No go faster! Tank pull more! Tank ill just pull for you! People not watching the position and butt pulling mobs unexpectedly. Honestly i dont blame the tanks for ignoring you, the community treats them like garbage
Do delves.
To hell with groups and bad tanks.
