Tanking services

That is fair. Seems you should be busy enough that you wouldn’t really have time to PuG anyhow. You have guildies and their alts you can be helping.

You don’t necessarily lose anyone that pays you to tank for them. I guess it depends on how the run goes. So far I haven’t had any complaints. I even ask for feedback at the end. If there were an issue, I would just offer a refund before the 1st boss. After that, it’s in for a penny in for a pound.

My guild is geared enough that they dont need dungeons, hence why im trying to do this business

nope i get in to all the groups i want because of my totems.

you must be salty that people dont want to pay you for a tanking services.there is always a noob tank coming up that will want gear.

thats how i see it.

i made it up just cause:P…lol

When I first started playing I had a Warrior friend that was 65ish in BC. He ran me through a ton of dungeons to help me level and gear and his only rule was if you need a piece of gear, roll need. If not, pass. I got XP and all the gear I could actually use and he got stuff to AH or vendor and it worked out really well.

Skip the rest of the drama, just do Live Strat Reserve all orbs. Grab a healer from your guild and split the profits. Hardly any drama since it’s so commonplace and way more gold per hour.

Still plenty of Mages trying to get that stupid necklace.

If people were so against it, they wouldnt pay.
The only reason people are doing it because is because people are willing to throw down some gold

This mentality right here is what makes me hate Classic. If you’re doing it for a fee - you get a fee - and you are entitled to nothing else. That’s how a job works.

Also, you decided to roll a tank, which means you tank. It means you should have enjoyed it.

People who charge 20g to tank an instance, imo are entitled to nothing extra. You get the 20g. Not the cloth, not the greys, not the greens. That was your fee.

Charging based on getting everything that drops is even scummier. Everyone needs gold, and tanking instances with close friends and doing speed pulls can generate a ton of GPH. Duo Strat Lives, Duo Jump Runs, things like that.

Additionally the following instances are excluded from being eligible to charge for tanking services due to EVERYONE needing to be in there:

Strat
Scholo

Everyone needs exalted with AD for Naxx, plus, you need to have access to flasks which means guildies need to get in there. You are getting a benefit from tanking those instances.

I’m a healer, and I can’t efficiently farm gold, either. So, I have to run instances I don’t want to, or cough up the respec fees to go farm. Sure, there’s more healers than tanks, but it’s the same principle here - I’ve chosen a role, knowing that for farming it’s a tough road to go down, and I’ll have to do some things I don’t particularly love to make gold.

You have the same access as everyone else - run circles, pick flowers, mine ore, AH Flip to make gold. Placing a burden on your fellow COMMUNITY because you CHOSE a role that isn’t as lucrative as say a lock or mage? You can just eff right off with your garbage thinking.

Tanking is almost never okay to charge a fee for. People who do are scumbags.

People do it cause they’re desperate to get a run done. Not because they are agreeing with it. It’s garbage.

Capitalism is great! If you can get people to pay why wouldn’t you???

You’re part of the problem then.

Supply and Demand. If you offered me 20g to run Scholo and I WASN’T allowed to roll greed on everything else, I’d laugh at you. Hell I wouldn’t even tank Scholo for 20g and greeding on everything else.

You may be lucky enough to be in a guild that has tanks that play a lot and bother to help. Your brother may be a tank, that’s an advantage.

The rest is Supply and Demand. Like you said, everyone needs gold, including Warriors.

You mad that Mages charge for Portals? I’m not. I can walk it if I really wanted to.

So what you’re saying is - you should just run the dungeon like all other players, not get a gold fee and take a shot on rolling on everything? That does seem fair and the best way to do things.

Good idea!

What I’m saying is, if there’s Warriors out there that are willing to do that, then yes.

But obviously there’s not very many.

Regarding the portals: Hello Apples? Hi it’s me, Oranges. Let’s compare each other?!

How? You said Warriors are tanks and we’re just doing a class function. How is Portals not a class function for Mages? I mean they rolled a mage! They should port everyone around willingly.

Capitalism is great - but this isn’t capitalism. It’s American Culture Capitalism. Where we gate keep the needs of the community and brain wash them into thinking they should pay good money for something that should just come as part of the package.

When a warrior tanks an instance they get:

Items
Rep
Gold
Loot (if they need it)

When a mage ports someone they:

Lose 20s on a port and get nothing in in return

Now, if the action of porting randomly popped up a chest that you could roll for and get items from, yeah …sort of similar. Or if you randomly got rep somewhere. Or, randomly got some items, I could see your argument, a little.

But yeah, comparing mage ports to tanking an instance? Not even remotely related.

In regards to Mages Portals, or even Food/Water. When this character gets to 60, in my off time when waiting on a Dungeon, or a BG or anything, I absolutely plan to spam General Chat in whichever city i’m in for Free Portals, or Free Food/Water. Clicking a button while i’m thumbing through my phone is 0 effort for me.

For the Cause!
