The fact that raids are only 25 man with room for 2 tanks doesn’t help either. I’d be more than willing to main my warrior, but I was asked to play mage instead end game. But it ends up, there is a huge shortage of tanks so my warrior is now played a lot more.

Them being able to raid at lvl 68 or anything the top guilds have done was WITHIN the rules set by tbc at the time of tbc. The ENTIRE point of classic tbc is to PLAY tbc. NOT to play tbc with massive changes. Duel spec IS a massive change one that dose change CORE elements of the expac. That is no longer playing tbc and is NOT the change the community should tolerate furthermore ask for.

I think that’s another reason for the tank shortage. I’d tank on my druid if there wasn’t so much responsibility to lead. I think I’ve learned how to pull groups since I had to be so careful pulling groups when I guested while leveling holy. But I have so much trouble learning the dungeon map and where to go. Some are simple but others, like ST, are pretty complicated. No matter how many times I’ve healed it I still don’t remember where to go next. If only there was someone whispering in my ear, go left, go right etc. I’d do more tanking.

On retail, players can freely switch between all specs, and there still is a “tank shortage”.
The issue is people don’t want to tank.

I like to tank but I’am having problems with aggro and getting disarmed. I was full protection spec and it was easier. Now arms/prot spec and is difficult to maintain aggro. Leveling with prot spec is not fun, changed immediately.

Speccing is a gold sink the removal of which would cause massive inflation.

The solution is to appreciate tanks more, support them more, and let paladins and bears tank for you. Hell, try hunter pet. beggars can’t be choosers, and the leveling dungeons aren’t that hard.
The problem is self-correcting, either people will give up looking for a tank or roll a tank themselves.

There’s no problem to solve. Better start treating tanks you meet real well, because not every person leveling as a tank is staying tank. Some just want faster dungeons, some will give up.
Even fewer will be burning their badges on tank gear. A geared and attuned tank will probably be able to extort 500+ gold to tank a heroic. The alternative for most dps will be languishing for hours looking for a tank.
