Groups that are competent enough for the tank to not have to worry about being in charge of everything are not the reason people dislike tanking for pugs in the first place.
I disagree. TBC had build identity and people that know how to play their build. Opening up Dual spec would mean Dps players will just have 2 Dps specs. As a Tank I would then have 2 Tank specs one for PvE and one for PvP.
People play what they play for reasons not because of accessibility. I know this is just another add dual spec with coy work around by staging it as a tanking problem. However NO! Leave dual spec out of TBC and make some dam friends with different Class roles. Join a guild! Have some fun!
From my experience on Mankrik Alliance is that most of the tanks are in hour long queue’s. (mainly my guild and friends who tank)
The real solution is to have separate queue’s for alliance and horde so the underrepresented faction doesn’t have to wait an hour because 90% of the people in front of them in line are of the other faction.
Has anyone considered that the tank shortage is not a shortage of desire, but a flaw in the community? I think it has been mentioned a few times about how unfun it can be to run with jerks. Has anyone thought about how we can improve the community/behavior? Particularly in dungeons?
You said people need to get over their fear of tanking and let the group take more responsibility.
The reality is that while in an ideal situation tanking can be fun and not hard, in pugs your group is often the biggest hurdle to over come and simply cannot handle doing something like pulling for the tank which is a large part of the reason people avoid doing it.
This is exactly where I was headed. After each run everyone can answer “Do you want to group this person again?” The choices could be “Always”, “Meh” and “Never”. I think this rating would be great when LFD comes into play, but it could be useful even now.
Yeah, or even just a thumbs up or thumbs down option. If you want to give more input you could, if you don’t want to bother with any review you can skip it. Sometimes you gotta force people to fake it till they make it.
Of course I’m also envisioning the guaranteed abuse of such a system.
There would have to be some decaying mechanism for bad reviews. You have to give someone a chance at redemption. People give 1 star ratings on Amazon too for silly reasons. Hopefully an average would negate some of the abusers.
Tank shortage is always going to be a thing. It’s the role that carries the most responsibility and fewer people want to do it. The upside is at lvl70 half the people playing right now will have quit and there will be a larger retention of people who rolled support classes because those people planned ahead on what to play to make grouping easier for themselves.
So your 45 minute tank spam will turn into like 10 minutes because there will be a ton less DPS making groups than there are right now.
69s and 68s don’t ruin the raids thay happened even when current. Yes it din’t happen day 2 but thats jsut people learning the fights and optimizing that is not even close to ruining them that is people doing the fights correctly exactly as you could of in tbc. What they did is the exact opposite of ruining the raids that is them enjoying the raid in there own way within the rules of tbc.
Asking for a change that is NOT within the rules of tbc is what ruins the raids.
