Tank Shortage - Solution?

I see everyone complaining there’s not enough tanks.

Probably the same hunter or rogue crying about the possibility of dual spec.

Add dual spec. Bam. Plenty of tanks and healers.

Duel spec also ruins one of the elements that makes tbc raids tbc raids. The need for complex class/spec comps that often require shuffling for tanks and healers. The diff between going from a 1 tank 25 man fight to a 5 tank one for example is a large part of tbc raiding and require rosters to match.

Duel specs takes ALOT away from that and dose hurt the tbc raiding experince.

There is quite a number MORE tanks in tbc than retail with 10 man raids needing 2 with 5 mans mattering and constantly needing one and with raids having more than 2 slots even for 25 man as such its not 2 tanks per guild its 5+ per guild.

Best way to counter the shortage of tanks is playing one your self lol.

This never solved the tanking problem.

Lol! I see lots of people saying need a tank then GTG … But curiously I DO NOT see many people saying, Would you like some help getting your tanky butt up to 60?

There is no solution to the tank shortage. Adding dual spec and later freely being able to repsec at will in rested areas didn’t solve the tank/healer shortage in retail either.

It’s mostly the result of tanks not wanting to put up with pugs, and not really needing to if you’re a decent tank as you’ll have people lining up to group with you. Especially right now when everybody wants to spam dungeons.

Duel spec did not fix the tank shortage.

Every new class Blizz has put out, DKs, Monks, Demon Hunters…all had tank specs and has not solved the Tank shortage.

Extra incentive (extra badges, pts, goodie bags) in retail to tank LFD pugs did not fix it either.

The only thing that would “fix” it at this point is changing how it works entirely though out all versions of the game. Good luck on that happening.

Nothing will “fix” it, but all of those things have made it better. Every class should absolutely have a tank or heal capable spec, if for no other reason than you can never say it wasn’t your fault that there wasn’t a tank available.

Of course, that’s not going to happen on TBCC.

I am working on my Druid to tank just so I can charge to tank! That is my solution to the tank problem.

That wouldn’t really stop people from insisting it’s still not their fault and that other people should be tanking for them.

When people talk about “solving” the tank shortage they don’t want to play tank, they want Blizzard to convince other people to play tank.

It’s like how on Overwatch before they had role queues people would complain about no tank or no healer even though they could switch at the press of a button.

I was worried that there’d be way too many tanks, after playing Beta. I feel like Warriors, esp. are going to have a hard time getting into Heroics and Kara groups as DPS, so that may help to make for a change.

With regards to Dual Spec, I don’t think it would be the best solution.

Dps warriors rerolled. They didn’t change specs. Dps warriors know how to dps doesn’t mean they can tank.

Yes, people mightn’t stop insisting that it isn’t their fault, but they would be entirely wrong then instead of only partly wrong. Every change that makes tanking or healing more accessible improves the issue of lack of tank and healer availability. Nothing is going to immediately and irrevocably fix it, but everything will do a little bit to help.

I’d be all for dual spec.

However, something that can help the tank shortage is simply an adjustment in attitude in the player base. TBC was never a nukefest. Be nice to your tank and healer!

It depends on your perspective…there are more than enough tanks for 25-man raid groups, so I’m really struggling with why I should bother maining my warrior.

It’s true…as a tank, you rarely, if ever, experience a tank shortage.
