This is a change I support
Fury and Boomkin and Ret mains are not going to suddenly start tanking because dual-spec is in the game, they’ll just take Arms/Feral/another Ret spec as their 2nd pick. People largely don’t want the responsibilities of tanking or healing.
Retail lets you freely swap specs and still has the same problem with lack of tanks, solution is either throwing treats to the tanks/healers at the end of the dungeon, or just taking up the role yourself and going mad with power.
Taller tanks
That is because there are warriors wanting to level up as DPS and feral cats not wanting to go bear.
On remulos day 1 hour 1 (the server got stable right at 1800ish this part of the world so we were all on) it was BE paladin-con.
I had my boosted ne hunter doing animal kills (tangy meat for cooking level)
and rock mining loops near hillsblad. I was so happy bloodsail a pve server. Platoons of BE’s working their mid range level grind there.
They see my Warpstalker, They hatin.
Spittin and trollin tryna catch me talkin boosty.
There is and will always be a shortage since vanilla. Some things make it worse, like the spamming dungeons at launch, and other things can make it better like more tank classes and dual spec.
Dungeon finder will fix tank shortage! It didn’t.
Cross servers/realms groups will fix the tank shortage! It didn’t.
Dual spec will fix tank shortage! It didn’t.
Death knights, a new tank, will fix tank shortage! It didn’t.
I really do not understand why so many brainless wonders do not realize that there is no fix to tank shortages. It is a problem in most mmo’s and will always be. Just accept that many people do not wish to deal with random dps mouth breathers! Do many of you forgot that LOOT incentives were given to get people to tank and that did not work.
Basically. I like DPS. But I am always nice to my tanks.
They say I need a minute I say take 2 or 3 my dude.
tanks says I pull rate I want I say go ahead.
But nice dps like me can be few and far between. PLayer has the job I don’t like or not good at…I give them their space. I don’t emo rage over a few extra minutes to a run. Did we clear it? I am happy.
Lol sure. That’ll happen.
The reason there’s an apparent shortage of tanks? PUG’s suck. There’s tanks, they just don’t want to tank your PUG.
No it does not. I did back then, and will be doing now, the same thing. Hearthing to Stormwind, changing spec, then getting summoned back. Duel spec has nothing to do with raids.
This.
Yes, random dps person reading this, odds are you’re part of the 90% of dps who ate too much glue when you were young. Or you post videos on TikTok, whichever of those two cases which confirms the most brain damage.
Yes because the game is balanced on that game the DPS classes deal something like 100% damage vs tanks/supports 75% of that damage.
Also on the past WAR was dealing 90% of the DPS damage and they nerfed the job to be on pair of PLD/DRK.
I really will enjoy tanking on classic be more “Fun” but like i said the two classes for my tastes are very bad designed and i dont blame the devs on 2004 that were other times but god
Okay, Classic Andy.
Turns out crapping on tanks makes ppl not wonna tank. Also, min maxing and going range dps also makes a shortage of tanks.
In retail I agree, it’s easier to tank in retail. Dual spec will add no tanks in TBC
And why would they want to?
I abandoned my t2 hunter in favor of this Druid alt so I can tank for friends knowing that I have given up my raid spot in doing so.
If I want to raid on this character, I’ll likely end up having to heal.
Y’all want us to tank your five mans, but giving us raid spots? Nah.
That’s simply false. You could claim it wouldn’t add many or very few. I don’t get people who speak in absolutes. It’s such an ignorant thing to do.
Ah yes, the tree they had so much trouble balancing that the best solution they came up with was to finally separate the two.
They did try giving prot warriors a DPS sub-class via talent choice before. It was so brokenly OP they removed it shortly after. It would require such an overhaul of these classes that it would be doubtful they’d ever feel the same again.
