Talent Trees Robbed of Multipoint Talents in TWW

Well you are entitled to your opinion, but as you can see pretty much no one agrees. So I don’t think that blizzard is going to do what you’re asking and you can beg and plead for it but the rest of the community is basically saying a hard “no” and as a whole are asking for the opposite of what you are for all classes.

The only way I could agree with you would be if they added 2 point talents back in, but with the caveat that you could move to the next talent row with only 1/2 talents instead of requiring 2/2 to unlock it, then I would say “have at it”

Ok so to take your Nature’s Guardian example. On live it is a 10/20% heal on a 45 second ICD requiring a 2-point investment in TWW it is a 27% heal with the same ICD needing only one-point. So not only a gain in the point economy, but also a buff to the ability baseline. Not to mention that you would never be able to take the second point out of an ability to plug it into another as you need both points in an ability to be able to path further down beneath that ability.

I feel like I’m getting trolled here.

This is the other thing no one brought up yet is the pathing is halted by 2 point nodes, ie the “tax” I was referring to. You have to put another point in these to get through to something with actual payoff, it’s absurd. I’m glad they’re gone.

No see you just don’t get it. What if someone wants to generate 3.752 maelstrom per LB instead of a full 6.238? I might overcap too quickly! This is obviously a QoL issue!

Avoiding power-creep is a valid argument. I don’t want Blizzard to nerf us a patch into TWW because our POWER : TALENT ratio. That’s what I meant by absurd.

We got plenty of new stuff I agree, and it will be a blast. I just think removing some, again, right-sizing talent “sinks” as you probably are considering them to be, isn’t the answer.

Yeah the “tax” is a good way of phrasing it, I spent a good chunk of DF as a priest and the “tax” is intense for priests. If you go to their forums there is a huge amount of posts around the number of two point talents.

I think what blizz did with shaman trees should pretty much be the model for all classes. There are very few situations where two point node talents are worth both points. Also as someone else mentioned the existing talents that were reduced to one point from two points generally were moved to a middle ground somewhere in between the current DF value of one and two points.

Maybe you have a lot of stamina or are confident you can hit your healthstone. You may want to have one or two points based on gear.

OR, OR, hear me out: it’s a SINGLE POINT TALENT, that you can then have the MAX BENEFIT from because it costs ONE POINT. Then you can take the OTHER POINT you would have used, and get SOMETHING ELSE.

Insane, I know

There is literally never a situation where you would want one-point as the heal only occurs under 35% health so it can never overheal you. It has nothing to do with gear level or confidence in pressing a healthstone, it’s a simple matter of numbers, and having the full value of the talent is better than half the value in every single situation. Even better is having the full value of the talent with one less point invested into it.

you’d rather have one more point in a dead talent than putting one more point in another useful talent…?

the difference between the healthstone talent is 7% leech and 15% leech.

in what world would you not rather have 15% leech and “hey, now i can put an extra point in Demonic fortitude for 5% more hp”?

Itemization in regards to talent points is a hallmark of the game. I think getting rid of all of them in any tree is an / does an injustice to talent trees.

Maybe Nature’s Guardian is a bad example but Swelling Maelstrom isn’t.

I’m convinced this guy is just high

Good luck yall i give up lmao

Swelling Maelstrom is one-point talent on live already, they changed nothing there beyond adding a +5% modifier to finishers.

Almost all of the talents which were reduced from 2 points to 1 point were increased to give their former 2 point value for only 1 point. There is no definition by which having to spend 2 points to get 6% magic resistance is more flexible than getting that same 6% for only 1 point.

I feel like you’re confusing flexibility with variety. While they are entwined concepts, they are not the same thing, and can even be contrary to one another. Many cases of build variety are actually results of talent inflexibility, such as Storm Enhancement’s builds being so rigidly locked into specific target profiles that they have to have divergent builds for different situations because they are straight up sub-tank if they don’t.

Reading the original post I thought it was for sure a troll making fun of classes with too many multi-point talents that are begging for the Devs to fix it… But I’m genuenly not sure anymore…

So as a Priest player with the most Multi-point talents (every one of our talent trees has at leas 8 of them, Holy has 10)… Please take them all and give me full one-pointers all day.

I just don’t want them to creep it back to MoP talent trees.

So.

If I understand it right.

OP wants the choice to nerf himself?

I am saying that I don’t want them to get rid of all of the nodes that have “two-point” investments. Reason being is it is a thought-provoking design that the original trees had. I don’t want them to conflate the value of a single point either.

Yes. I understand you are asking to be nerfed.

You want less character power.

I get it. I mean. I dont get that. But I understand the request.

Shaman Main Tree: 7 (DF) → 0 (TWW)
Elemental Tree: 10 (DF) → 0 (TWW)

It just seems wrong, it’s very upsetting as a fan of multiple point talents.

That’s fine. But literally no one else likes 2 point talents. So just accept they are going away and move on lol. This is an instant losing battle
