Taking a Break until M+ and Raiding changes

What if none of this was real? What if it was all just a game? A virtual environment where you can think for yourself and not burn yourself out for gear that will be useless in three months? What if when you logged in, you remembered this is a 20 year old game that is supposed to be fun, and NOTHING about Mythic anything… is fun. Imagine loading into your character, looking at your achievements, mounts, mogs, pets, etc, and deciding “Today, is Pet Battle day!”? You might just enjoy yourself for the first time since MoP.

Well this would have to be true for one thing.

Funny thing about fun and truth. Both are still highly subjective.

Then your post is missing a whacking great big For me on the end.

Imagine thinking that just because you don’t find anything mythic fun that no one finds mythic anything fun.

I can tell you that if mythic were removed I’d quit playing this game.

Blizz had claimed they gave up on the arms race against top players but all they’ve done is embrace it even harder.

It’s quite odd really.

Everyone has their version of “truth”. I say it is unfun, they say it is fun. Both are right. I say medium blue, someone else says light blue. Medium is a lighter shade of blue. Both are right. Universal truth is, everything is subjective.

Given the specific language used by the OP, they don’t find it fun. But one thing about this game is burnout. M+ is fractured in a few different ways, and people who feel “forced” to do anything are often addictive personalities. Maybe their solution is to walk away from M+ and try one of the other 20 fun aspects of this game and see if they turn changes.

Personally, I would jump for joy if they turned Mythics back into Heroics and the term Mythic back into a challenge mode difficulty that prevented players from feeling forced. Now, will it happen? Nope. Blizz knows it has a ton of people happy to hop on that hamster wheel for 24 months and grind gear that gets replaced 3 hours into the next season / expansion. It is what it is, and some of us like our habi-trails and are not fans of the wheel.

The OP doesn’t speak for everyone.

People who raid at a mythic level are forced to do it but most do it anyways.

That’s due to how blizzard has designed the game. To play at top levels you’re required to do more content to min max. This is nothing new.

It’s never going to happen.

and I wasn’t speaking ABOUT everyone. My comments were aimed at the OP, then you and the blood elf got jumpy and had to toss your 2 cents in. I’ll say it all day long and not even care…

Mythics were a mistake and should be removed. It is a toxic, competitive, and community of exclusion. If you are not 2800+ with top end gear and a flawless record, your booty is staying in the LFG til someone takes mercy on you and drags you in for pity. Not you specifically, but the player attempting to queue. I left Mythics in SL and have never regretted it. So how bout you stop taking my conversation with someone who is not you so personally?

Dozens of threads like this and people try to argue the end-game is fine or ask for evidence that somethings wrong.

The only thing wrong, is people making feedback threads based on anecdotal evidence and hyperbole. This is not a feedback thread, this is an “I want you to think I am quitting but really just came to complain” thread. M+ is broken. The community is toxic. The gearing is out of control. The gating is real. Like there is no denying the issues, but they can’t fix any of it if all they get is ranting and rambling.

nah it’s pretty true. if youre not doing 8 +10s a week youre basically throwing

unless your gear is already all myth track i guess.

4 is fine, the main concern is just cap your gilded crests and at least have some chance of getting a 623 item for the first few weeks.

Guilds that ask for 8 are either over asking or well into the realms of you know what you signed up for.

It’s one of the games saving graces.

It’s literally the most played pillar in the game.

The funny thing is how can you say it is when you don’t do it? The higher end actually isn’t toxic or competitive. It’s only the people who aren’t good that are toxic.

Not even remotely true.

Last night at 2570 IO I got into a grim batol 11 in about 4 minutes of quing.

The issue is you have people applying to keys they aren’t qualified for and getting mad because people won’t carry them.

See above. If people learned how to actually Que and stop applying to things they have no business applying too they would be better off.

Good for you.

I didn’t take it personally. I just think you’re clueless on the subject personally.

How can people take threads like this seriously when the person doing the “complaining” doesn’t even play end game?

I gave it up in SL for all the reasons described. It’s my opinion. Have a nice night.

This is quite literally why I quit raiding and will no longer raid. I cannot stand relying on 19+ other people to do very easy things, most of the time. But it takes everyone doing that easy thing for me to succeed, and that sucks. At least in mythic+ you have a reasonable amount of agency. If you truly learn every mechanic, debuff and cast from every mob in every dungeon, you are really able to make a huge difference. There’s just absolutely no opportunities for skill expression of this type in raiding. You literally are just dodging and pressing throughout abilities. It’s mind numbing.

Who are you?

You could try actually contributing to the conversation instead of saying the same thing. This post has nothing to do with team play, I have pugged a ton this tier and previous tiers, they have done tons of adjustments and changes by listening to the community, this person saying they are leaving until it has changed is dumb because things have changed. Moreover, continuing to say I’m clueless when I have empirical data makes you clueless.

Yes, this I could understand and get behind, but if they are complaining about spending tons of time playing, I would just assume we aren’t discussing CE, if they are complaining about min/max pushing CE having to spend a lot of time playing then I would firstly say, go back and play legion and enjoy artifact grinding and secondly would tell them to stop pushing for CE.
