I’ve played this game for nearly 20 years. The time commitment now compared to what it was 20 years ago is an order of magnitude.
It’s your guild or your own personal specifications that are setting those M+ requirements. Blaming the game is ridiculous. You’re making a choice to raid with a guild that choose to enforce overzealous expectations. Plenty of other guilds that will require less. And your solution is to “take a break”? Just find another guild you knob.

I don’t understand people advocating for playing the game less.
Really easy to look around to mythic raiding guilds to find many with those guidelines.
This is why it doesn’t make sense to blame mythic raiders for the mythic+ changes in difficulty, as it just increased our workload. Have about a hundred active raiders in our guild, and not one asked for that and hate the changes.
I just don’t know of any changes that would fix the issue without introducing more problems.
DF gearing was just better. Not the best, but better than this season.
Show me a serious mythic raiding guild who would bring a raid logger who isn’t doing m+ to stay on top of vault?
Mythic raid guilds have to bench people from fight to fight, not because of skill issues, but comp optimization and/or gearing. There is definitely an element of skill but for the most part, those on CE side are just hella good players all around.
And we aren’t talking about the guilds who will do maybe first 4 bosses of mythic and quit for season. Talking about those that want CE and/or to finish the raid.
BUT - this is what we sign up for. Blizzard designs the game around our behaviors and so here we are. If you want to get to the end, have to play the game like a job. There are enough willing to do it, and so blizzard continues to design around that and so, its not a problem.
Mythic Plus will always be “required” for any halfway serious Mythic Raider purely because more gear is always better. Being able to spam for hero track gear massively reduces the need to do Heroic Raids outside targeting specific pieces like tier or trinkets.
But I think the Raid Vault can be done way better than it currently is. Right now it falls off a cliff in value once you start extending because you’re simply not killing two bosses in Mythic Raids at that point so you’ll have to do keys to get any meaningful forms of upgrades.
Surprised you didn’t mention insane rate at which the current content is generating burnout in even its top players. M+ players and mythic raiders alike are dropping like flies, and it’s not because they can’t complete the content. Most of’em can. It’s simply what completing said content entails that is burning people out in record numbers.
I’ve watched quite a few of the people I routinely did content with over the course of many years finally succumb to the burnout and fade out. Some are quitting, while others have simply chosen to play the game on a more casual level until things change.
As someone who enjoyed raiding when it was ten man, and hates 20 man mythic raiding, I am the exact opposite. I feel forced to raid to speed up my M+ progression.
But because I refuse to do content I don’t enjoy the way it is currently designed, I don’t raid, thus I live with the fact my progression in M+ will be slower.
You are making the choice to make yourself unhappy, playing a game, the requirement to do M+ to Mythic raid is for the top end of the spectrum and the early prog guilds. I don’t doubt your guild might be doing this, just like so many mid guilds raid three nights a week, when it’s actually not of any benefit to them to do so (it actually hurts them, they just refuse to acknowledge it and soldier on). The problem is you choose to participate in something that doesn’t make you happy, not that the content exists.
you are not alone, my friends/guild have not logged on in weeks because of how the mythics are right now and the rewards are definitely not worth the stress they cause.

i do 1 m+ a week and thats it and I raid 2x a week. M+ has never been less required to raid than this season.
Buddy, if raiding and m+ is stressing out your life I dunno how you manage to function in society and hold a job.
In the words of deadpool… just channel that stress and anxiety into success or cancer like the rest of us.
I hate m+ as much as the next raider and I’ll spend an off night every week knocking out enough +10’s to get 2 or 3 vault reward, which, incidentally, combined with raids, is enough crest income to keep me capped for the season for all my crests. Not a huge ask to put in a minimal amount of effort doing content that’s not your favorite so that you’re not a drag on your guild.
Bottom line is that ppl are just selfish nowadays and aren’t willing to take one for the team anymore. So much “wah I just want to sleepwalk through content with minimal personal accountability because it’s hard to concentrate after an 8 hour work day with 3 screaming kids… but pls give me mythic track gear because my problems are the only problems that matter and just because times have changed for me I expect the game to change to my needs and refuse to acknowledge that other people enjoy content I don’t”

In my opinion forcing people to do content they don’t want to do is a bad video game design. I get my 10s done every week for my guild as well, but the whole my life sucks so yours has to as well attitude that your post has is just… Stupid.
