And prior to them being on the BMAH, they had the prestige of being “1 in ~50 drop chance when you spend $4 at whatever TCG store you go to” or “collect 20 bonus point cards from packs and redeem them online.”
or people earned them in game from someone…yes. INteraction was required
Cause you were too lazy or poor to get it yourself, there’s nothing glamorious in that, the person you got it from in-game still did that sh*t lmfao.
Oh, right, forgot about “give someone who spent money on the TCG an amount of money that’s likely more than $4.”
right, it required an interaction common in most mmorpgs
I’ve had the Tabard of Frost since WoD and I just can’t bring myself to care that they’re giving it away.
They have been adding TCG stuff back to the game for years now. If you paid hundreds of dollars or millions of gold on an ugly 4 pixel mount or tabard, you have nobody to blame but yourself.
tcg to BMAH to daddy Bezos giving it away…wow. What a great chain of events. Let’s all thank BLizzard…or should I say Daddy Bezos?
The thing is he didn’t, he did unspoken things for a friend that gave it to him as a reward…
That guy first had money to waste, then this one got it for free and yet he’s complaining that we get it from prime today.
Why? Well, whatever. Thanks Blizzard and Bezos!
Btw, is the new meme “another yacht for Bezos” now?
Best advice I can give is to stop putting value on things due to exclusivity, and value them for what they are. A cool looking tabard is a cool looking tabard regardless of how many people have it. Stop worrying about what other people have and simply appreciate what YOU have.
clearly they do, or people wouldn’t scream about “fomo” or constantly demand old items to become available again.
an RPG should feel rewarding…Blizz had the formula right in BC and WOTLK/Classic
And I support limited time items and events but Blizzard never made any promises with TCG. Matter of fact, when they shut down the program, they said this stuff would make it back into the game one day.
Why anyone would put great value on TCG stuff after they said that, and after stuff did in fact start making its way back into the game, is beyond me.
If your sense of something being rewarding is only derived from exclusivity, then you are the source of your own unhappiness. Why is it so hard to appreciate something simply because it exists?
I was a vanilla Grand Marshal and had exclusive access to the rank 14 gear. Then they changed the pvp system and my gear was obtainable far easier with honor farming. Did that devalue my experience in reaching GM and obtaining that gear? Not at all. I felt no sense of loss because I don’t base worth on exclusivity.
The same situation happened recently. For the longest time I was one of a few people who had the Necro-Knight’s Garb (original Naxx40 trash loot so not obtainable on the BMAH), but then they added all those old naxx lookalike recipes so others can now sport that same robe. Did that upset me or detract from how much I value my Necro-Knight’s Garb mog? Not a bit. In fact I was happy because now others could enjoy the same mog I’ve had nearly exclusive access to for over a decade!
You don’t need to be a snowflake to be special. You don’t need to base your sense of worth on what others have compared to you. Appreciate what you have and take pleasure from those things simply because they exist, not because you have something most others don’t.
Tabard of Frost was a glorified microtransaction.
It was never an achievement to own.
Le cringe.
For years spectral tiger was the mount to get…everyone wanted it. Now I can’t wait to see it from Bezos
They released it in China. One day they may release it in the West.
I have the spectral tiger mount myself. I wanted it for how it looks not because it was “exclusive”. Even if it becomes a Blizzard twitch drop and everyone has it, I’ll still love it all the same and still use it as often as I currently do (which is when it’s the perfect match for my mog).
I would say you are part of the problem . Hogger should just give us things that required a lot of effort. Or just pay 15 dollars. When can I buy rank 14 gear? You can buy end game raid gear now and level 70
Your arrogance with a pixel is astonishing. You’re 1 person. You are so ignorant to how little you objectively know that you make extremely false claims of “doomed to fail because a tcg item i own is more available”. It’s just a video game item, get over yourself. They’ve done this with items I’ve owned like the mists collecters and tyrions mount. Guess what, don’t care. Try it, noone cares how you look or what you have.
