Anyways I think this is contract promo between Blizzard and Prime/Twitch, but it might end eventually. They cut their deal with Riot, and this came about after Prime laid-off 180 employees and said they wanted to focus more on their free games section. They likely didn’t see much sub retention from the promo campaigns with Riot, so who knows how it goes with Blizzard.

I never said things shouldn’t take effort to acquire, just that you shouldn’t place value on them due to exclusivity. To varying degrees, of course things should take some level of effort to acquire, but that doesn’t mean they should ever become unacquireable by others just to prop up your sense of value for them.
I worked hard for my rank 14 gear. Others who came after had it far easier. And even today you can get my old rank 14 mogs and title through arena achievements. Effort is still being made to acquire those things but they aren’t exclusive. I’m not the only one who gets to enjoy those rank 14 things or my once exclusive naxx40 robe mog. Now, anyone who puts in the effort can acquire those things, and I’m all the happier for it!
How much “effort” did you put into getting that tabard exactly?

And MMOs have changed. No longer are we in that age where having the best items was a show off, the games have had to become more “accessible” to keep people interested.
If you need proof of this, look at the history of Wildstar. They tried to replicate the old “wow hardcore” experience and failed. That crowd that wants that is tiny and unprofitable.

How is a tabard that was added in the BC launch from a card game equivalent to “full end game pvp gear”? Maybe I’m dense and a cosmetic item really is equivalent to actual gear. I must not be that great at pvp or I’m sure I would have noticed.
