System whiners got their wish

We have different views. Casuals didn’t complain how there is no content in wod. It’s mostly streamers, and hard core audience. I was in a mythic guild back in WoD on EU servers. And we geared many alts, helped many guilds finish runs, and no one mentioned anything to that extend. It was fun run and we even leveled opposite faction to have fun.

right.
If it started in legion…the concept of borrowed power, with the artifact weapon, that doesnt mean that it aint what is being discussed.
Concepts sometimes come before they get a proper name.
Hell, theyre calling two entirely different things ‘boosting’ right now, lmao. Paid 60 boosts from blizzard for IRL $$$…and paid carries. I see ‘boost’ and I have no idea which is being referred to until i read more. lol

‘borrowed power’ likely IS the legion artifact, the beginning of it, that many of us dont like. It just didnt have a proper name yet.

Then tell us plebs without Beta what outdoor content there is, beside the invasions and dragon racing. I’m genuinely curious.

THere may be a lot more then we know coming out . Not everything is going to be tested any more and they started it with the latest patch involving the Lordaeron/UC quest chain . Which was never in the PTR.

Good. AP grinding can die in a fire. Now they just need to get rid of the toxic timer in M+

The problem with BP systems is that it’s also a barrier for entry. It makes it that much harder to return when you’re faced with being so far behind. At least this expansion when you get bored and quit you can come back without needing to catch up. The major benefit to not using BP systems is that progress isn’t lost every single expansion. Classes were balanced around AP systems and then once they were removed suddenly the classes were broken. Now we at least get to carry the class balance forward so we make progress.

As for DF lacking content because BP was taken out, no it’s lacking content because it’s being rushed out the door presumably for Q4 profit boost to keep investors happy. There are plenty of MMO’s, even wow at many moons ago, that didn’t depend on BP systems with an expansion/patch launch for content. I’m kind of dumbfounded that they didn’t really add anything new to all the classes this expansion, you know so it feels like an “expansion”. The same stuff repacked differently doesn’t make it new. The Dracthyr are new but if you don’t want to play them it’s basically Shadowlands 2.0. It is entirely on Blizzard that they do not want to think outside the box and put in new abilities/content/systems that would increase playtime or at the very least fun.

Like I’ve said, it’s a matter of implementation. If blizzard had designed it as a parallel progression path for solo players that raiders could ignore but those solo players could still see some improvement from, we wouldn’t be having this discussion right now.

Sounds to me like I’ll be able to do things outside of playing the game and not feel like I’m falling behind. I’ll never understand this mindset where we’re supposed to want to spend 100% of our free time in one game.

Okay, now I’ve heard everything.

Pokémon snap

Fishing

World quest

Rock climbing

Unlocking more outdoor content via renown (which by the way is accountwide)

Professions

Archeology

Battle pet

All of which are open world content minus dragon riding and invasion.

I don’t understand why you think other people should be forced to do content they don’t like, some of which was clearly badly designed, just because it exists. This “grind multiple currencies to buy stuff you don’t want, but you have to because I said so”, I don’t get it.

The game is supposed to be fun. If you enjoy filling your time with mindless grinds that provide no reward of any lasting value, that’s fine. But expecting other people to do stuff they don’t think is fun and isn’t rewarding to them, that’s a weird demand.

Honestly, if they made more things optional, people would engage in it more. I would like to see an optional garrison system come back in some way. Owning your own city is fun. It makes me think of WC3 when I use it in WoD.

Exactly, that’s my main problem with arguments like this. Yeah, having additional content is great, but those side activities were very bare bones and not much fun.

That’s pretty interesting. I’m actually glad to hear it. I think the data mining had gotten out of hand, so I hope there are some good surprises in the future.

History proves this to be false, though. Unless there’s a giant neon sign pointing to stuff saying DO THIS THING NOW, many people will ignore the mountain of available content and instead complain “there’s nothing to do”.

Problem is if they started DF 2 years before they announced it like they said back in April then they most likely started on Legion 2 years before they announced it meaning they were already working on the artifact weapons and the ap for the power system of the weapons before WoD launched.

Also consider that shortly after WoD was announced there was an article saying how Blizz wanted to go to yearly expansions starting with WoD. In order to do that content needed to be cut and work on Legion needed to be focused on more .

THey learned a lesson that they can’t do yearly expacs but the end result was the lack of content didn’t create the systems , the creation of the systems created the lack of content in WoD.

I just don’t agree, the content you keep citing that people skipped just wasn’t good. I did the ember court a few times before being bored, same with the other covenant side activities. They just weren’t good. You don’t have to force people to have fun, if something is fun they will do it. You can’t have content just for the sake of content.

Same old, same old.

Alright, that’s sitting on a raft clicking buttons, not really the engaging outdoor content that would last us for several months I had in mind.

As far as I know, archaeology was abandoned for Dragonflight.

I guess a nice minigame that’s fun for a day or two. But that’s about it.

Not really outdoor content, is it?

The only patch I personally pitched a fit about in WoD was the selfie patch… Because you CAN’T consider THAT CONTENT.

THat is why I’m not worrying to much about what content there is or isn’t right now .

Granted if there ends up not being any more then what is showing in the test phases I will gladly join in with a “wtf you said there would be content that would not be tested but all I see is the stuff that was tested”

And how much is truth behind that many will never understand.

I was helping my brother since he was returning from vanilla. So we get the leveling done without me using a 2 seater, we were running everywhere. It took us 3 days I think to get to 60 if not more. Then he had to grind renown and do covenant campaign. Took us as well 3-4 days, since we did torgahst runs to get currency for legendary. It was time to craft legendary. If I didn’t help him he would maybe have 225 ilvl legendary or none , since minimum cost for his legendary was 70K. After that we started to do some Mythic zero runs and then some low keys.

He said couple times , if I had to do this on my own I would give up mid game how much crap is to catch up. Vanilla was straight towards. You just need some gear before you step into next raid.

Again he could have stepped into raid even here if someone would carry him, and ignore him being dead 80% of time but that’s the struggle every new player is going. DF is step into right directions for sure without having borrowed power
