Sylvanas' endgame and BfA last patch (Speculation)

But how to convey that as part of the narrative?

“It’s her third death”
Players: “But she died four times!”
“Well, the second one didn’t count.”

Even the “only deaths after undeath count” is easier to explain with a single line somewhere that says Arthas raising her was her “birth”.

Possible but it’s never stopped the writing team

I make speculation hoping for the best rather than dreading the worst.

who cares, no one will be playing retail when this patch hits.

The current Lich King is who that one is about. Never trusted the Lich King for one. Dude is sitting on top of a castle made out of old god blood. Not to mention how shady and ominous he was at times during the DK campaign.

Yeah that fits with my concerns about Ner’zul and Bolvar. And it makes sense that the ‘crown’ e.g. the helm that Ner’zul is bound to has its own power.

If the N’Zoth whispers are about BfA, I don’t think it’s about the Lich King.
If they are about future expansions, then I can see it. But what’s the veil? The veil of death to the Shadowlands?

That would be my guess, hence my suppositions above

A Shadowlands expansion where we see dead characters again could be interesting… if done right.

Could be a dungeon where this is made relevant and the 5 dungeon participants are the torches.

That’s a pretty nice idea.

Can Sylvanas use the blade of Xal’atath to kill Bolvar and take the crown? I still get this feeling a Lich Queen of sorts is in store for her and would make her powerful enough to be a raid boss.

I have this head-canon that the first lie told was Anduin telling Sylvanas “Only one of us wanted this war”. I have no evidence to support this in any way, but when I saw that scene, I thought that line was heavily emphasized.

That happened after Ogmot’s journay came out, and Ogmot said the lie had already happened. Also, Anduin has always been about peace, and I think the “lie” is not an intended one (just like he truly believed the Alliance was winning at that point).

Ah I see. I’ll need to ponder a bit more on this then.

Edit, so with Il’gynoth saying.

The boy-king serves at the master’s table. Three lies will he offer you.

Do you think it was a lie from him that only Anduin would tell the lies? Then again, just because Anduin is sitting at the table doesn’t mean he is the one offering the lies. It could mean that [He] offers us three lies as we sit at [his] table.

There is also this idea that the boy-king is Gallywix due to his immaturity.

So what exactly would happen to Quel’thalas?

Basing off the OPs theory, I would assume it would be the gateway of the Shadow Realm Helya uses to usher in her victory.

So Helya= the new Sargaras and Slyvie=the new Gul’dan?

Without the demons and stuff?

The theory is that, to whatever both N’Zoth and Sylvanas compete to do (free himself/kill Azeroth), they will need a powerful source of magic. So, both will aim for the Sunwell, just like Arthas did to raise Kel’thuzad in the third war.

From here on, it’s just speculation based on speculation. The details are most likely wrong, but it’s just to flesh out a possibility.

On the Horde side, Sylvanas, as the warchief, already has access to the Sunwell, but she won’t want anyone seeing what she’s about to do, so her plan is that her presence in Quel’thalas will push the Alliance into attacking Silvermoon to capture there as a distraction.

Meanwhile, on the Alliance side, Umbric will suggest that void elves and high elves (Silver Covenant) lead the Alliance forces, since they know Quel’thalas very well, and it’s a chance to retake it for the Alliance.

Mid-battle, both Sylvanas and Umbric slip into Quel’danas, each showing their true face and summoning the forces at their command (like kvaldir/undead vs faceless/void beings).

The big Alliance/Horde battle is resolved in questing, while the big showdown between death and void is reserved for the raid.

Again, details here are probably very faulty, it’s just to give an idea of what could happen.

“Retake”.
My concern is the screwing over of my favorite race. I get the impression Night Elves weren’t exactly happy with the ending to the War of Thorns and even if they get the revenge (short of killing off Orcs) they wanted, they would have rather it never happened.
What does losing the Sunwell again do for the Blood Elf narrative? What does it do for the Blood Elves in Horde narrative? The person that got them in apparently just used them for her schemes and screwed them over completely. Silvermoon just gets wrecked again. The Alliance wouldn’t kill every civilian on sight like the Scourge, but there will be losses that cannot be afforded especially when the full havoc ensues.
