American Express (It used to be Diners Club) is the gold standard for customer service for credit cards but it may depend on the card you have.
Huh. Kind of strange you’d get tagged for that because in recent seasons they haven’t disqualified anybody who had their accounts played.

Ive always wondered if in this kind of scenario if it would send an alert that you could validate and have prevented the whole thing.

They don’t penalize for that. They know what computer you are logging in from, what times you usually log in, where your logins are from, if there is an Auth on the account (hopefully if someone is traveling!), and exactly what they are doing when logged in.
I traveled and played for years. Most that would happen is needing to enter the Auth code when I changed computers or had a major geographic switch.
From the description I would guess this is a first time penalty under cheating (account sharing) which makes sense to be 6 months. They know if an account logs in to do specific activities from a wildly different location/computer, then jumps back to the normal pattern. Mage tower carries/pilots were a good example of it.
The OP really should move this to CS if they want a bit more insight. They won’t tell them exactly what they found, but they may be able to help clarify the penalty a bit.
Citibank is the CS that has impressed me a few times when someone has tried to rip me off on a purchase and refuses to refund.
They are like rabid pit bulls just dying to get off the leash lol.
not only got my purchase and tax $$$ refunded, but took back the shiipping costs and everything down to the penny.
The sellers werent happy at all.
They were doing their best to ride out that 90 day time limit so Id be out of options, telling me they were working on it over and over.
One call to citibank, emailed them a couple photos of the product…very simple process and my money was back on my card.
Blizzard used to have that level of CS when i started playing.

Ehhh, I’m kind of skeptical because I do know of some people who were temporarily punished while heaving travelling and doing content that was often rmt’d. They did have their accounts unlocked pretty quickly, though, and this was quite some time ago (5+? years).

Mage Tower was last bit piloted thing I think, right? Ksm/aotc are usually just gold or cash selfplay. But yeah curious to see what CS says.
Fishy, very fishy. I’ve played since 2005 as well and I’ve never been “banned” or suspended at all. But even if it were to happen I’d assume I’d get the first type of warning at the very least and not an instant account ban 6+ months.

Amex is the same way…
I’ve not used a dispute very often (maybe 5 times in my entire life) and Amex did it and upheld one w/o even evidence – just a phone call and it was done.
Barclays sided with the merchant even though I had solid evidence against the merchant and they would not budge. I no longer shop at that merchant and no longer use Barclays.
They lost a ton of revenue to Amex. I won’t get into how much but suffice to say most people would be horrified how much I spend (and pay off) annually.
Blizzard CS, I agree used to be awesome.
Remember talking w/them on a phone to resolve issues.
GM’s would come in game and chat w/me to fix issues there.
Now it is just cut/paste responses that don’t even apply (or send you to wowhead) much like Barclay’s customer service model and AI bots.

So many times I see these I did nothing wrong posts in a GD and so many times I’m wondering if they think this will ellicit a response to get them unbanned magically. If you appeal and the decision stands or whatever then it’s likely there’s more to the story.

I don’t really travel much, but I do play from my laptop tethered to my phone when I’m away from home (or from the hospital Wifi if it’s a longer appointment). And my phone hotspot often does show me in a different state. But I’ve never gotten any penalties.
