Support this tweet/LFG Addons

It’s not changing a project though. You want to change the project by limiting the API more than Blizzard already has.

Also, playing Classic with a LFG GUI isn’t remotely similar to retail in a very long list of ways.

If you don’t understand that the biggest differences between classic and retail can’t be changed by addons, I’m not sure what to tell you.

Class design.

Profession design.

Item design.

Pre-cata quests.

Different set of dungeons and raids.

A TON of minor differences like being dismounted if you go into water, 3 second mounting speed, 1 hour hearth cooldowns and a lack of world portals in your capital.

No enemy cast bar by default and only a clunky one you can get from addons.

You can’t even see enemy health values outside of addons that estimate it.

Very long walks back from a more limited number of graveyards.

A ton of retail features don’t exist in classic.

etc etc etc

Addons like ClassicLFG don’t make classic into retail or anywhere close to it.

I use one button addons to prove that classic had broken addons, not that I even knew about them then or used them

And addons can’t do that so stop worrying.

It will always be Classic just with a bit more Quality of Life :orange_heart:

That’s not “#nochanges” by definition.

#nochanges by definition would actually involve a more powerful addon API than we are getting and LFG addons would be possible with that API as well.

The technology was definitely there back in 2004, we just didn’t know how to reach it and now we’ll have to live with that.

There was one, no one really used it, but there was one

There were add-ons that could play your character for you in vanilla. That’s what we’ve been talking about after some “hardcore” people decided to derail because they couldn’t defend their initial offer. People knew very well how to “reach it.” Getting back to the initial topic, the Classic team has already stated they want to avoid the detrimental LFG add-ons.

No, they didn’t, they said they’d kill things that “ruin the spirit of vanilla” like automation addons, this classiclfg does not

False, Ion stated in one video that they would consider breaking addons that they thought wouldn’t fit into classic.

They never broke ClassicLFG throughout the entirety of beta and have a little over a week to decide if they will or not before release.

PS: here’s an actual record of a LFG addon that existed during actual vanilla https://web.archive.org/web/20050224051516/http://www.curse-gaming.com/mod.php?addid=245

and here’s one that auto spammed chat for you for LFG/LFM

Opinion, not fact. We will see.

Not exactly PvP scanners and Auctionhouse scanners made the cut. Not all automation is bad for the game.

I mean, this is ALL opinions, including yours

Auction house scanners existed in vanilla, not sure about pvp scanners but honestly there was probably worse ones then we could make now

Agreed

Refer to the video I posted earlier in the thread. If Blizzard doesn’t make good on what he said, Classic will absolutely be a failure to its stated goals.

well Duh, thats what I just said. “we shall see”

When is blizzard just adding in all these addons to the game. People seem to love them and think they’re amazing

No thank you, if everyone has a pvp scanner pre-installed it would ruin the game. Same with auctionhouse scanners, how do you expect me to get all my deals competing with everyone?

Let players make their own choice.
