If normal groups do it now, they will then.
Covenants being flexible wont change anything in this regard.
Please stop making a horrid argument for keeping the system - it makes the rest of us in support of it look bad.

If they paywall covenants switch I’m going on a crusade to exterminate them.
Time gating is fine, paywalling is not.
I’m just enjoying the system.
I’m not the one(s) designing it. Nor am I the one that will continue to pay the company that designs a system that punishes me for playing how I want. Sounds like that’s going to be you.
Before you could decide more of how you wanted to play . This forced path thing is more of a borrowed power feature.
They already did it with azerite traits/gear - I think this will be their compromise in the end if they do end up breaking on the system.
I’ve played the game since it came out. I have seen people crying about blizzard forcing them to play their way since vanilla. Borrowed power is just one of the more recent examples. Before that there were plenty, even going back to rooftopping and guards in towns, etc
A week-ish respec would be fine.
The problem we’re looking at is a few individual who think it would be amazing if we all had to suffer in order to change covenants.
Yes and I’m already done with this system, for many reasons. I didn’t hear anyone praising the respec cost of azerith, and they nerfed it if I remember.
I think restriction is a losing argument. We all play the game different.
I may go one covenant on my DK because I like the theme.
Zoumz may go a different covenant each day or whatever because he’s doing raids.
My choice doesn’t affect him. His choice doesn’t affect me. We both get to enjoy the system how we want it.
Meaningful choice would be cool. But I mean that died so long ago in WoW. It’s a different game now.
Where did you get paywall from? The signet part? That’s just me using the BC signet’s that dropped from NPCs and could be sold by other players that didn’t need them.
I’m not saying this agaisn’t you, I’m just saying that it’s mostly the options. They might paywall it with things you can buy or gold, or time gate it. For me timegating is more fair atleast.
I will find a way to play it but unlike you I don’t find enjoyment in others suffering. I want everyone to enjoy the game how they want.
Once again I believe anyone that finds enjoyment in other suffering is a pathetic excuse for a human and needs serious mental help
I’m gonna be perfectly honest- go for the aesthetics or the gameplay ability you enjoy. Neither of those are going to change much, they generally don’t make big changes to the looks and feel of abilities.
How powerful something is will change with balancing or even just gear, some may scale a lot better, or work better with later trinkets, etc…
You can never trust the power of an ability to stay the same, and getting stuck with a covenant you don’t like much because the ability used to be bis but isn’t anymore will just suck.
But Zoumz’s choices from day to day IS meaningful for the groups he plays in and the content he’s doing.
Being able to swap doesn’t make the choices less meaningful.
Xmog - that’s a choice without meaning because it has no impact on gameplay/performance. Same with any choices you make at the barber shop.
Oh I meant meaningful choices like that exist in Classic where talent resets cost like 50G max and that was a lot in vanilla when people were new.
No we can switch our talents whenever.
As time progressed wow really relaxed these hard choices players had to make. So it’d be odd to start implementing them again.
I wouldn’t say that’s “meaningful” - it’s just punishing if you want to change things up.
Even then, in Classic there’s people with thousands of gold, 50 gold nowadays isn’t much.
I don’t think it’s punishing you.
Some abilities are good in some cases and others in other things.
Much how in classic mage and rogue had interrupts. Now pretty much everyone has an interrupt right?
So we’ve already removed “hard choices” from the game. It’s like the whole flying debate. Blizzard can never take away flying because they already allowed it.
Blizzard already allows easy talent changes, they allowed artifact power resets, they’ve allowed us to change stuff in the past.
You cant make it a habit to allow players the option to change and then decide “not now” that’s breaking the cycle. And it’ll end up like when they tried to take flying away. Which was massive complaints about it on the forums and people quitting.
I’m still planning on doing the covenants on four different toons that fit those covenants. But that’s how I want to play. If someone wants to do it differently, well that’s in them.
Charging a fine to many people is a punishment. Especially when they’re paying a subscription.
If this was a free game - ok, milk us for more time played for stuff…but in a game I already paid for, and continue to pay for, you’re going to charge me for wanting to play the game slightly different when you’ve created so many ways to play???
I can totally understand why players feel punished.
Charging a fine? What fine? I’m confused.
