I agree with this guy 110% WE NEEDD IT!
And now we wait 2 months cause we are not in beta have fun PvE server all 10 of you.
My thingy is broken. It says
Beta: World of Warcraft Classic
[ gray PLAY button ] {you cannot play beta yet}
I was a stress tester… then my battlenet update last week and this is what
I see… or don’t see.
Thank you so much for running the stress test and inviting all the subscribers. Although I only got my NE priestess to level 7, I had a lot of fun - even though I, like others, suffered through the complete elimination of any targets in the starting area. I had to go to Auberdine - visit my long-lost friend, Gubber Blump. Then I had to make the long Death Ruin from Menthil Harbor to Loch Modan. (only six deaths). I was in Stormwind, enjoying the tranquility of the Park when they shut down the servers.
I can’t wait until August when Classic Servers go live.
I think it depended on the realm. On first day when we were all forced to play on either Realm 3 or 15 pvp it was hella crowded. I have played on the other stress test but this time it was way worse with crowd killing mobs just as the spawned. Everyone knew the location of the spawn so they camped it out. BUT after we were allowed to return to our realm of choice, mine was realm 12 pve, it actually was pretty quiet. Even at the end there were only about 10 of us dancing on top of the bank roof in Org. I did see some phasing=layering, but on this realm I really didn’t think it was needed due to the low population on the second day. Each time I get to play the stress tests it just reaffirms how much I missed the vanilla experience and am looking forward to Classic and the community experience of my future new realm home!
Absolutely loved this. I felt useful, too, in reporting a bug or two, though I regret that I missed both the opening hours and the obliteration of players at the end due to my working and sleeping schedule.
It was glorious seeing players interacting once again. Grouping with random players, ending up sharing quests the others forgot, so on and so forth… yes, just yes.
Can’t wait for this to come back for real!
I found out about it too late ;-;
ya know open beta for everyone who logged into it outta be a thing.
ya know it can handle it cause people who logged in were able to play.
Thus ya outta be able to grant everyone in there access and that way the load caused bugs such as some vendors and quest npc’s not responding can be reported or rubber bandins and other things that need tested and looked at.
So only reason ya don’t cannot be because the servers could not handle that load.
Make it happen please.
And I wouldn’t mind keeping my current character from that test if possible. just open it up and level cap along with the rest of beta testers.
I just thought of one possible downside for me, a normal player that won’t power to high level but will explore a lot of character RPG things such as crafting and AH stuff if available to test.
After putting that much blood sweat and tears into actual character development I might get really sad when aug 27 wiped out the effort.
perhaps best if I just chill and anticipate and do some rise of ashara to unlock flying before I see if 8.2 is worth any further time or wait for the things ion talked about in his Q&A thing such as squish, class base line stuff instead of rent a gear ; pruning to unpruning etc.
Meh, do what ya want to.
I wish I didn’t spend the last moments in the Stormwind throne room, wanted to see some cool GM shenanigans like that.
But all in all it was good fun and I’m now more hyped for Classic than ever.
Thanks for the opportunity to test classic, and i can use a beta invite
Stress Test was not long enough. Please open Beta until release. That is all.
Feeling the sadness now that the test is over.
Leveling was fun. Deathknell was pretty brutal. I logged on server 15 about 30 minutes after launch and apparently right when they started closing the other servers. I was in and out of groups for the Mindless Ones for about 1.5 hours before it was completed. But if that’s how it was in Vanilla I’m okay with it. After that lvling was close to what I remember. Too many people killing for Putrid Claws, just move on to another quest and we would just swing by the farm between quests to kill zombies.
Overall playing the game was fantastic, especially since my sister finally was able to play. When we were 14 we started to focus on quests that actually gave us green items (for pvp purposes ) which meant we had to do some highler level quests.
There were no groups going for A Recipe For Death (elite) quest, so we decided to go for it anyway We ran, died, and rezzed our way through Pryewood Village to get the back piece from completing the quest. We had to sheep Berard and each get the book without agroing the elite in the other room (This failed twice before success). We probably died close to 8 times but the +3 Stamina back piece was totally worth it! It felt so Vanilla!
Layering on the other hand is garbage. We joined the StaySafe’s counter-raid yesterday, and waited for him only to realize we were pretty much on top of each other but in a different layer. By the time the raid group from ratchet got into the right layer - it was all over. Chat getting spammed with INVITE TO RAID LAYER gets annoying really quick. However, everyone should be able to participate in wpvp.
Lastly, we joined Zenriki’s raid on SW for the end which was pretty fun. Usually a hater of lag, but it was so bad that I was able to run right through the front gates of SW to the cathedral without dieing.
Oh and I also loved that the test lasted 48 hours this time!
Being new to classic, I can see why people were addicted. I’m almost sad the stress test is over. XD
Server 3 felt pretty dead, I ran to barrens as ally and saw literally 2 horde the entire ~20 minutes I was there. Stormwind was mostly empty despite trade chat being very active, every zone was that way and the world didn’t feel alive in the way that I’m used to.
Server 15 felt a bit better in terms of how many people I saw but I only played maybe 3 hours on there compared to about 26 on server 3, the # of players in Northshire when I leveled on Server 15 felt good, quests were doable but there were still people running around.
I played during the majority of the testing time and other than a continual, but intermittent, bug that caused looting to happen in a nanosecond and give no loot roughly 30% of the time, the experience was incredibly positive. From the perspective of someone who never played Warcraft until Wrath of the Lich King, Classic is absolutely fun to play and genuinely engrossing. I love how much it encourages ad hoc grouping, how friendly the majority of the players were compared to retail, and having the old talent trees in particular was great. In fact, although i like a lot of the quality of life changes since Classic came out, the only real thing i wish was added to Classic is the ability to play as all the current races. I know that won’t happen. In any case, i hope you know, Blizzard, that Classic is running very well as is, and you have made an excited fan from a relatively newer WoW era, so it is not just the nostalgia fueled base that will enjoy this game. I am very hopeful that the Classic talent trees with take back over the horrendous retail ones that have ruined leveling in current WoW since Cataclysm. (I played on server 2 the entire test and it had plenty of people, even though it said it was a ‘low’ pop server).
Trust me, that’s as intended. Some mobs unfortunately have no loot. To this day the black bears in Loch Modan still often do this. Not every mob has loot.
Layering is a technology that cannot pick and choose zones. It literally cannot do what you ask. Retail’s sharding technology that can balance by zone is what it sounds like you are looking for. It appears they will not be considering using that tech though, so you are probably out of luck. It seems like they are already set on layering being their tech of choice.
Thank you for letting me know i thought i was crazy lol
It was an honor!
Thanks for having a test, had tons of fun, The first hour was slow, but past that the game vastly improved. I was on PVP-15 and as much as it pains me to admit it, layering may be useful in the first week in the level 1-10 areas.
