Well, enjoy future silences then. If you are unable to learn from this, that’s on you.
Current penalty ladders goes like this:
1st chat violation silence 1 week (you’ve been very very lucky over 20 apparently)
2nd chat violation suspension 1 week
3rd 2 weeks…doubling
After 1 month, they tend to get tired of it all. We’ve seen accounts permanently closed for 7 or so. Blizz just gets tired of dealing the dumb chat and closes the account.
This has changed from the past and could change again in the future.
Finally, the easiest yes/no they can do for a chat violation is cussing. And it takes just 1 report. It’s just extermely easy to adjudicate cussing. It happened or it did not. If it did (masked or otherwise), boom, hammer falls. Avoid cussing in a game taht children play and it becomes more difficult to get suspended. But, we’ve seen account actions for calling others not intelligent with various derogatory terms. So avoid that as well. That usually takes a bit of history/repeated effort, I think.
If you have problems with chat and are unable to self control, turn chat off.
I’m dying to know who the streamer was. I have a feeling who because I saw a few clips last night of a dude having a rough night. What does his name rime with?
There is no government enforced freedom of speech or other freedom of speech on wow IP.
I hope you can get it fixed and resolved w Blizz.
They have been listening to AWC players, streamers, and Mythic .01% people for way too long, massive drop in players says everything…
How true to your class lore.
Huh? I haven’t played in 3 weeks lol. Are you saying you were in one of my games?
I mean, I haven’t played for the past 3 weeks, so mmr is a bit deflated because I haven’t queued. Idk, I feel like that’s pretty self explanatory. I did play yesterday and today. If you were in one of my games then lol cause I didn’t notice you.
Yeah it could be hard to see who’s around you when you die that fast
Yeah, idk man. I doubt I’ll be seeing you again (even tho I don’t remember you lol) unless I lvl an alt.
I don’t disagree with a single thing you said.
But yes, as far as how speech rights are acknowledged in our U.S. laws. It’s almost entirely exclusively what protects you from government reprisal for speech. Things would get a little out of hand possibly if we could say anything we want at any volume, no matter the vulgarity, inside of somebody else’s business without fear of repercussions. Think of this world of warcraft IP forum as your local police station lobby. You’re welcome to go there if you’ve behaved in the past, but how you act decides how they treat you once you’re there. You might not even like how you’re treated before you misbehave, but the actual owners don’t believe that it’s your space to decide what’s okay.
It’s actually likely that it’s the “m” word the OP got a one week silence over, too. There are people who consider that to be a derogatory word.
As you wish.
This was from reports over 6 different days.
Oddly, what you say you got silenced for - isn’t even in these reports - much less anything of a ‘mass’ nature, although that certainly would have qualified.
No, this was for toxicity. Most especially your fondness of calling others idiots, morons and low IQ.
Hope that clears this up for you.
Well calling someone names puts a target on you. Two wrongs don’t make a right. If someone is hostile to you just put them on ignore and move on.
Welp. That’ll do it. Your silence was legitimate. It doesn’t matter who reported you and it only takes one report for that type of thing.
And no, that isn’t “mild,” nor is it allowed as per the rules.
Blizzard has been cracking down on toxicity in game. Your week silence is proof of that.
I encourage you to read both of these Codes of Conduct that you agreed to and the Social Contract, which is both suggestions for a more positive social environment and the CoC relisted again.
The best steps to follow when someone tries to get hostile with you:
I think this thread has run its course and everything that can be said, has been said. If you want to continue to appeal your silence, you can do so through proper channels.
Edit: I missed Orlyia’s post somehow, so apologies for that!
Here’s an official updated article regarding account silences. You may find it helpful.

That has to do with Bnet silences not single accounts!
This has been debunked as a Squelch, which is indeed given to counter goldseller spam. It’s a temporary silence until a GM determines if the reports are accurate and levies an actual penalty or overturned.

He got later a penalty for abusing the report system by GM’s.
Tickets are answered with templates by human GM’s. That is a customer support industry standard.
No, he was silenced and then suspended because he was abusing the reporting system. He got a squelch from the reports. This has been debunked literal hundreds of times at this point. Stop spreading misinformation.
