People always cared about it, I’ve always hated how expensive it was to get into WoW, like I can’t get ANY of my friends to play WoW just because of how expensive it is. The topic has just been brought up again because of the transmog set.
ok that sorta makes sense. ive never cared too much because even if theres some p2w mechanics technically they are unintrusive enough you can just ignore it and play the game as if they didnt exist

I wouldn’t say anything in the shop is pay to win (although the wow token is right on the border of being pay to win) the annoying part of the in game shop is because I’m already paying a sub, I’ve already payed for the expansion so why am I still being restricted from transmog/mounts that Blizzard spent time making?
theres always tokens. which does effectively make store mounts the same as any other gold sink mount
All of the mounts on the AH (unless removed from the game) can be earned by playing in the game though, whether that’s through professions, quests, farming raids, it can still be obtained without real money.

Imagine if netflix made you pay for movies inside of the service when you buy subscription. Expansions are understandable. They take time to develop. but this is deplorable and awful disrespect of patrons.
thats an unfair analogy. in wow you arent buying content outside of expansions. you are buying cosmetic items with little to no effect on gameplay. (aside of course from the infamous level boosts) all of which can be bought with ingame gold anyways. (including expansions, and a subscription)

Cosmetic items that are content cut from the game and put a pricetag on. Would you prefer that iconic and well designed sets in the game become pricetag gear. Maybe later were gonna get 60$ raid tier dlc. Shop cosmetics in a game is content. it is something in the game. Just because its cosmetic doesn’t excuse the greed.
They tried one time over 10 years ago, they had to make an announcement that they weren’t going to add anymore transmog into the store because of the huge lashback they faced.
It is in the sense that Blizzard generally doesn’t release as many things in the store nearly as bad as other MMOs, but It’s still a path I’d rather them not go down if they’re going to be charging a sub fee and an expnasion fee, with a shop already existing…
Yeah, they intentionally put it as a “free” reward for a 6 month sub so not as many people would be upset, definitely. Because now half the playerbase is saying “Adding transmog to the store is fine, especially if we get it for free!”
Except obviously not every piece they add is going to be free…ashame the player base is so easily manipulated. 
Yup, that’s literally why many friends I have don’t want to play “I mean I’d play, but I don’t want to pay every month because I’m going to feel forced to play it or it’ll be a waste of money”
Yeah, I mean technically you can but It’s so expensive for the value you gain, I don’t think most people would do it anyway…plus, at least in bfa, It was insanely easy to gear up. I was almost best in slot and I’d definitely consider myself casual.
That’s partially my issue. Plus, why not just make them available in game through fun quests? We could have gotten a cute fun quest line in darkmoon faire or something…
Which they’ve consistently only ever added one per expansion, so using that as a justification is a little disappointing.

I agree, mounts was bad enough…then they added pets, recently toys and now transmog, too? It’s just so terrible… they do it because they know they can.
Mounts, pets, toys, and transmog are all content outside of the expansion, though. They’re not included and they may not be necessary to progress, It’s still crummy.

no its not “cut from the game” one or 2 of them maybe. but youre assuming that they werent planned from the start as store content. which makes alot of sense for most of them. what content exactly was cut with Hogrus? whats the missing questchain there.

i understand why people would dislike it. i kind of dislike it myself. i just dont understand how this is such a big deal as if its a horrible game ruining thing.
Your disagreement is noted and I’m going to point out a hard fact… they have had transmogs in the in-game store before this. No one raged and cried about it then.
If you don’t want to pay for the transmog then you won’t get it. I received mine for free since I already do the 6 month sub plan…
Myth…
Transmog items on the store were introduced during Wrath of the Lich King. Of course Asmon forgot to tell you guys that fact. Then he also forgot to tell you that the item was free with the 6 month subscription. The amount of negativity he brings to the community via his fake outrage (that he knows his kult of followers will overreact about but he says don’t blame me because I can’t control them) should have earned him a perm ban from the game long ago.

The whole point is there shouldn’t even be a store when we’re paying for a mandatory sub and expansions.
Could have been a cute fun pandaren questline especially considering they haven’t been talked about since MoP. Honestly thought anything would have been more fun and entertaining than paying $25 with no story…
