Sure, there’s no shortage of transmog sets. HQ transmog sets? There’s not that many.
I’ve been playing since Vanilla. I’ve collected a lot of sets along the way. I even have more than one full Tier 3 set, one of which actually came from Naxx40.
Every single one of my characters is sporting Legion+ transmog, because that’s when the last quality leap happened. There’s been a few of them. Cataclysm was the first one. Draenor had a texture leap, but Legion improved on the 3D modelling a lot.
Not that I have anything against Transmog sets on the shop, but I’d also love it if we still had tier sets to have more HQ class-appropriate options (BFA sets feel particularly generic to me, as good as some of them were).
I wonder if Blizz does stuff like this to keep players busy? 
hm, lot of complaining about prepatch, let’s change the conversion, release one of those transmog sets we already have created
ehhhhh debatable. the sets look amazing but there is still only one plate set one leather set etc.
I really wish i could regain some class identity and get a unique pally set again. not just a homogenized plate set. 
I really like stuff like nighthold tier where there are three plate sets to collect and three colorations on each set to choose from.
in that regard I agree with OP they are skimping.
I don’t think necessarily that the cash shop xmog is an issue for me at least because I always 6 month sub. so for me it is free. but i miss class sets

My main was only 478, but that was more geared than most the player base 
I disagree, a short darkmoon faire quest would be amazing and add on to a place that doesn’t get much attention. It may not be good for you, but I personally would be thrilled with even a basic quest.
Right? If you look at it there’s only a handful in comparison to all the gearsets. 3D items weren’t started until MoP and even then it was only belts.
Yeah, there’s a lot of 3D pieces that are pretty much staples in most of my gear sets because they’re the only good quality ones.
Future sets likely won’t be “free” like how not every cash shop mount is “free”
Totally understandable. I actually miss them too. Blizz just wanted a break to try something different for awhile with general raid themed sets. But they have confirmed class sets will return later in Shadowlands, so something to look forward to.

I can understand a break or something, but the sets that replaced them were, in my opinion, incredibly bad…especially considering they only had to make a handful of them, it was extremely surprising.

How does creating an entire questline based around a transmog somehow take less time than doing nothing and letting and entire other team create it for something else?
The cash shop/marketing team isn’t making stuff for anything but the cash shop. 
If they stop existing, people lose their jobs, parent company stops caring, game goes f2p and dies. So basically you’re promoting for more people to lose their jobs and WoW to die. Good going!

if i don’t get them free i usually still buy them. at least the mounts. I don’t mind supporting the art team for blizzard. I’m a mount collector and I have every mount shop in the game.

Ever heard of challenge mode dungeons? I’m guess you never even played Mists of Pandaria there were literally unique class sets around achievments of beating dungeons in a certain time… they also added unique weapon sets for the same types of achievments in Warlords of Draenor. Oh in Legion? There was a little something called Mage tower, ever heard of it?
Oh and plenty of the artifact skins were tied to achievments as well…

Inserting an NPC and typing some quest text vs. hours of 3D modeling, ensuring things like ears fit properly through the hood (something they’ve literally never done for any in-game armor currently) for all the races…? You can’t comprehend that?
I know you seem new, you should check out an addon call TRP, you can actually make your own questlines with items and everything within the addon. Takes almost no time at all and is a really fun way to spend time in the game.

Actually, with a 6-month sub, Blizzard gave me the transmog for free, AND paid me $12 on top of it.
I save $24 per year with a 6-month recurring sub, and get lots of free stuff as a thank you for my business.
So, I’m not only not paying for the transmog, I’m getting two months per year for 99¢ each.

It is the case in Overwatch so I can’t imagine this being any different. Although I don’t mind it in Overwatch because I don’t have to pay for a subscription.
Could you imagine how upset people would be if you had to pay a subscription in Overwatch and a portion of the skins you couldn’t get out of loot boxes and HAD to pay real money for and there was new relevant content you had to buy every year?
Well the updates in WoW are a lot bigger than the updates in Overwatch so it’s understandable although I still don’t like the system WoW has. I think it would be better to just remove the expansion fee and keep the subscription fee.
Yeah, pretty silly to compare them but I agree something needs to change. Charging for a subscription, expansions, AND having an in-game shop is a little out of hand…

did it though? i distinctly remember them selling transmog before. this seems kind of tame in comparison to some of the other stuff they pulled. especially when you think of the motivation behind it. i think they just wanted more people to commit to a 6 month sub and put it up on the store for a high price so people wouldnt get pissed about it being locked behind said 6month subscription
