Add-ons are a crutch. The game would be much better without them, and macros. Macros might even be worse imo.
Then don’t use them… simple solution to your opinion on the matter.

Thanks chief, I was wondering what my solution was. My point is that the game would be better without them. Idc who uses them because they are allowed.

I’m glad that I could get that solution sorted for you. Let me know if you have any other brain busters and I’ll be sure to give you the same answer.
This right here. Too many people trying to push their idea of classic on to everyone else, or pretend to be the official representative of what classic is. I’m all for Blizzard shutting down the forums until launch day. People should go stock up on peanuts, beer, chips and salsa, kiss their spouse and kids because you are going to neglect them for a few days, and get some rest. It is going to be a great week next week. Don’t let others take that happiness away with words on a screen.
Cheers!
I actually agree with you that all addons should be banned from WoW but that has never and will never be the reality. Players flooding these forums demanding Blizzard stop players from changing a game that Blizzard has already changed is patently ridiculous.
LFG was the start of the downfall of the wow community as we knew it in vanilla. i’m not seeing how you think it’s helpful for communication- with a click of LFG, you can get invited to a group, gain access to the entrance, play thru the entire dungeon, and then leave without ever even saying a peep. how exactly is this more communication than posting in chat that you’re looking for a group or position to fill, discuss who’s heading over to summon… not to mention the usual people asking where it’s even located… from there nothing more can be said for the rest of the dungeon- but you still had to communicate to put it together.
I agree with you on everything except possibly the LFG add-on, which I am ambivalent about at this time. If Blizzard determines that it breaks the spirit of Classic and bans it, as they stated they may do with add-ons that fall under this category (they left what exactly “spirit of Classic” meant), then I honestly won’t be too upset.
The other things on this list, though?
I think you’re paying too much attention to the loud, obnoxious “ban ALL add-ons” minority, a group who have been around literally since Classic was announced. They’re not going to change their minds and arguing with them is like spitting a big wad of tobacco into a tropical storm-force wind.
More people will be playing with add-ons than not.
My man/girl, this addon doesn’t summon people, it merely gives you a list of players that are interested in the dungeon so that you can whisper them…
This addon would not stop people from asking where an instance is, or who is close to help warlock summon etc…
You are unwise to think you aren’t turning classic into retail with your anti-social convenience lfg addon. #BANLFGADDON
I have analyzed your post and determined you often argue simply to argue in spite of being wrong. You most likely believe the World is flat.
As such, I have recalculated to 99.9999% chance that BFA is the WoW expansion for you!
It has an immersive group finder and even a raid finder! This highly suits your personality. You will find great satisfaction in “knowing” your way is the best and only true way to play WoW.
Obvious troll lol
Well said - I 100% support this post. I can’t believe the attitude of some of these jackasses around here.
honestly, what’s the actual point of classic then, if you want everything retail offers but just under a different name? it’s like starting a new season on Diablo 3- you’re starting fresh to have to level and gear up… but it’s the same old ishhhh.
Likewise.
OOOOOhhhhh
Dev (picks up mic)
We will be breaking ClassicLFG.
Would be funny.
During the beta test my daughter and I died three times to quest mobs while trying get to level 10. For me - that is the point.
i do admit, it did seem a bit more challenging, but it’s not much different from starting fresh on a new server and play without the use heirlooms and such.
Get this, chief, the developers put the api in the game for addons AND macros because they WANTED them in the game.
Have fun, chief.
Some of those are a bit ridiculous, I don’t think anyone expects you to use vent over discord and everyone will probably use youtube with thottbot. I’m not sure on some of the other stuff you named but considering how common UI add ons were back then I don’t think thats an issue either. People I think also used quest helper, though I kind of rather look down on that rather than tell people to not outright use it. Just read the damn quests people, good exercise in reading comprehension.
But other’s do kind of matter, and oddly enough its a common misconception for people (especially on the general forums) to not get how certain things effect the game, either willingly or through ignorance. LFG changes the dynamic from a communal one that relied on making relationships to pushing the pug culture, which has its own effects on the game. I’m sure things like right click report also have their own effects on the game that aren’t too hard to imagine with how easier it is to do. The biggest fear of a lot of classic people is that they don’t want classic to repeat the same mistakes as modern WoW, and a lot of that comes from QoL features that warped the game over the years. Thats why people say ‘play retail’ when they want these conveniences that might effect the game.
So no its not about ‘let me be’ anymore then it is when people trying to defend forging use it in modern wow. Its all about how it effects the game, because despite the fact that some people try and play solo, its a social game and has its systems built around that fact.
And this is where the add on’s function ends.
People who do that will do so with or without the add on. The add on changes none of that.
