If they are going this crazy with changes, why aren’t we just getting 3.0 → 3.3.5 progression which would bring all of this content back in line with exactly how difficult it was?
Edit: A big part of the decreased difficulty are things like Beacon of light now transfers overhealing, Ardent defender no longer leap frogs and also has a cheat death, Tanks do signficantly more damage/threat in 3.3
Oh please we are already going into wotlk with a drastically different talent build than the start of the original. You say this but you wont have any problems bringing a demo lock to the raid for their sp buff even though that particular build didn’t exist until the later half of wotlk.
So you know all people and can then come to a concrete conclusion? No?
Well unfortunately for you I know the original statement Blizzard made regarding Classic. Are you trying to say that people did not subscribe to Classic WoW to play Classic WoW? Because that’s what you’re arguing by stating this. You’re also arguing that you somehow know “a lot of people” who’re “looking for changes”. Where are these people?
Meanwhile there’re plenty of posts with Blizzard explicitly stating the purpose of Classic versions of the game in that they’re to “preserve” those versions in their originality. That’s my concrete proof of my supposed “collective”. Most people want Classic WotLK because that was Blizzard’s stated intention of releasing these versions of the game. Are you trying to say that people somehow didn’t subscribe to Blizzard’s Classic versions because of what they didn’t say? That’s what it seems like.
I’d rather them change code on NPCs than change my character.
What about the endgame implications that are going to be caused by gear being different? Does that mean Blizzard is “allowed” to “balance things for PvP” then too? Because this sounds like a lot more work than just making bosses harder.
Blizzard stating that their intention was to maintain a version of the game that is faithful to the original back when they were working on Classic is my source.
No arena teams and race changes are not at the same level as stat squishes that alter class balance, and the flow of raiding.
That said, I do like the idea of using 10 man TOC to help defeat 25 man heroic Ulduar and then, in turn, using that gear to help down 25 man heroic TOC. This is what they are going for.
But…they could screw it up. They also have to squish the pvp gear which could get messy.
Seems risky. What if the original devs intended for this kind of flow. Raids will be blown up no matter what - making them artificially difficult does nothing to preserve the game.
So when we try to do a week1 0% LOD we are going to get screwed because it wasn’t tuned around low ilvl gear? Only having a couple pulls makes it that much worse.
Thats exactly my point. We arent. Balance is already massively different going into wotlk classic, the whole notion of being upset because it may change is ridiculous.
Because the items from PvP will be affected as well. Not to mention the 3.3.5 balance changes are designed to function with the ICC gear as it is in the original version of the game. I made mention of this before:
It also affects PvE in that some classes will fair better against others on the charts with less/more scaling depending on where they place (being better scalers or better on the base stats).
When they used the word “Classic”, thus implying that their intentions are aligned with what they did historically with that branded term. In essence it’s like investing in a company with a stated purpose then having them turn your money, time, and work around by betraying the initial purpose you invested in them for.
Don’t be so manipulative as to market it as the same thing, have people fund it, then turn around and try to change its expressed purpose mid-way in the bottom footnotes of forum posts. It’s deceitful.
Why do I have to go to retail? I’m not complaining about anything lol
Are you here to discuss stuff or just to post one line snark posts? I’ve been quite diplomatic and pleasant with people in this thread, if you have some kind of problem please leave me out of it.
I guess the devs will have to do the testing and make that decision. Personally I don’t think losing a few stats is going to break anything in pvp either.
Well I never assumed they wouldn’t change it, they have been making changes since day 1. I get it, these changes are bigger, but I would argue that the need for changes is also bigger (we won’t agree on that, let’s not debate forever).
That’s the thing, some people will “argue” for “needs” that are different than yours. Blizzard has a set of different “needs” for this game than you do. How many times have you disagreed with Blizzard?
No changes takes this argument out of the picture. Nobody has power to change. Nobody should because, historically, we’ve all made terrible choices. Just look at retail. Obviously people cannot be trusted with power regarding WoW post-WotLK given that the game afterward began to fall off the face of the Earth.
Sticking to the original takes this pointlessness of powerless debate out of the question. We have a roadmap and it is called original WotLK. We don’t need to change it, and we don’t need to argue if we stick to it because words will not matter if we do.
