It is still the case. If you get equivalent ilevel gear, depending where you got it that affects how “good” it is and it affects the appearance. This is why its easy to find out who is mythic raiding/dungeon crawling compared to those who do not.
There are also benefit to this model as well. It allows people who want to later raid/dungeon crawl on a mythic level to have the gear necessary to begin. As people increase in level and gear level, they leave behind the content that was behind it making it harder for people who want to try raiding, to get into raiding.
Otherwise, you have a much smaller pool to select from.
And this is the reason I’m thinking about cancelling my sub … again … after just coming back for a week or two. Everything in live wow is too temporary. Too easy to catch up. I feel zero sense of accomplishment after achieving something since I know it’ll just be nerfed or rendered irrelevant very quickly. Of course, gear needs to progress and I get that … but the pace is way too fast and gear is just too easy to get from anywhere such that you cease to give a crap about it anymore.
After so many years, I keep hoping SOMEBODY at Blizz gets it, but they just seem to keep compounding the problem. It pains me to think that I may need to go play ESO or something
Achieves mostly and you do want to at least try the raids,if not mythic dungeons. And other bits and pieces that you don’t get like rings, trinkets etc,you can’t get from world quest they are still the best in game.
If the only reason to raid is achievements that just means that reclearing is actually counter productive to the goal and will be worse for the raiding community as a whole. And as i said earlier, any key below a m+10 will basically be dead because +10s give heroic raid ilvl loot and higher from the weekly chest. Anything lower would be a waste if you can get better loot from world quests.
Oh your saying because I get gear = to heroic gear that I don’t have to do a 10+ mythic of my choice at all and my value to achieve it is a waste of MY time? Do you actually believe what you are saying?
I agree accomplishment diminished over the years due to the number of gear resets per xpac. Going all the way back to vanilla there was some catch up gear to speed the gearing process but for the most part you had to clear all the previous content to do the current content. This model Blizzard felt was not beneficial to the game and has thus changed it.
You should be playing the game because its fun and you enjoy what you are doing. Hoping to work really hard then getting to sit on your laurels for the rest of the xpac is not the current design and if that is why you play, maybe you should reconsider if you should play.
I am very late to this discussion, but I agree with you, OP. As someone who no longer really does much dungeon or raid content, I don’t think I should be rewarded with the same type of gear someone who puts in time and effort in high mythic + and raids gets. There has to be a sense of working towards something and getting rewarded for your efforts. I stick to WQ, warfronts, emissaries to get gear and compared to mythic + and raids, those things are much easier, thus the rewards should be in line with the lack of difficulty. Now, I know some people say that just because they choose not to do higher level content that they shouldn’t be “punished” by getting lesser gear. But that’s how the real world works. In the working world, when someone puts in a lot more time and effort than you do, they get a raise or a promotion and you don’t. If you want to get that higher level, you need to do the work. It should be no different here.
Some peoples enjoyment is excelling and going above and beyond others in both gear and achievement. Why are people so against others wanting more for more effort? Theres nothing wrong with gear being their ultimate goal. Thats not me, but i dont blame anyone who plays strictly for gear and i sure as hell wont tell them to “reconsider if you should play” just because their playstyle doesnt align with my own
I dont think Blizzard knows what is beneficial anymore. Thats why we have BfA in the state its currently in
Discounting WF/TF because they’re unpredictable, you have to do the equivalent of grinding each individual piece of gear 11 times to get a 430 piece. You need 5 to buy it, and 50 more to upgrade it to 430.
What you are upset about is people having access to it period. Do you get mad at someone who makes $8.00 an hour when they finally save up to buy an iPhone? That’s what my daughter did, and over half a year later it’s still in pristine condition because she appreciates it.
People grinding their gear and upgrading it slowly end up putting MORE effort into their 430 piece than you did for killing a heroic (formerly normal mode) boss and having it appear in your bags.
I am not telling people to not play because their play style differs from mine. I simply stated the fact that Blizzard has X view of how the game should be. If as a player you want it to be Y instead of X you are currently going to be SoL.
The reason to play a game is because you want to. I see so many people post on these forums claiming they are not having fun or enjoying the current state of the game/classes. Right, wrong, or indifferent the game is what it is.
WQ gear is harder to actually get. You have to wait for rng to get the right piece you need, and happens over long periods of time so you constantly have to watch for them.
It’s not like a few items through WQs every once in a while are gonna invalidate all raiding, to state such is ridiculous.
As previous stated… raiding gives other rewards as well (mounts, pets, recipes, crafting materials, mogs and mog sets, boe items worth gold, achievements, etc… etc…) Anything else you desire for all your effort and time invested in raids fighting the same boring AI mobs over and over? Time to move onto some pvp and stop farming gear isn’t it… maybe?
All these hours invested in WQ farming should entitle me to the same or even more of a benefit considering the difficulty in rng and the time invested in my farming. But really i don’t care about my IL all that much anyways… so…
