Stop throwing gear around and rewarding mindless play

I see in 8.2 that we’re getting vendors with gear that can go up to 430 for WQs…

A few questions:

  • Ion said, they were concerned about vendors in PvP because they were afraid people would choose the wrong piece… then you guys add a vendor system for WQs and expect them not to? What? Why not add vendors for PvP at this point too?
  • Why are you rewarding skilless/mindless content with 430 ilevel gear?? You guys have made the game feel so dang unrewarding due to high ilevel gear being thrown out all over the place, are you trying to make WQs legit end game content? Why even do heroic raid or push rating below 2100 in PvP if you can just do WQs?

Stop rewarding mindless/skilless play with good gear, it’s unnecessary. Reward players for completing difficult content.

People enjoy different things. If you think gear makes you good, or makes you feel superior to others, you’re going to have to choose a better argument to make.

BFA is a new era for over rewarding gameplay. I’d get used to it, it’s only getting worse.

I don’t have a problem with 430 gear since heroic raid gear is probably going to be like 440 or something. I’d rather they just scrap titanforging. Or at least tone it down to 10 ilvls max.

My waggle waifu, not everyone plays the game nor the content you do. Denying them avenues to higher gear is positively narcissistic; if you enjoy the acts of Raiding, pushing Mythic pluses, or Player versus Player content than do so.

What someone else acquires for gear has no bearing on you or the content you engage in.

In WoW, higher gear has always been the reward for more difficult content. Why should you get the same gear as someone doing content at least 20x more difficult because you spent time helping Jimmy escort his horse to the farm?

430 will be ilevel equal to heroic palace/1800-2099 PvP rating.

I thought it was 430 for heroric since 445 is mythic. am i wrong?

What is it about this that so many people don’t get?

As to the PvP vendor, I agree. It should’ve been added in 8.1 with the Residuum vendor.

But the rest of it? What’s it to you if other people have gear? Also, having gear made so widely available…it’s absolutely clear that they are trying to move out of item-driven play into content-driven/achievement-driven play.

I’m so very cool with that.

The more options the better not everyone plays the same.

Is this confirmed? I’ve yet to see anything. I know it normally jumps by 30 ilvls but we have a mini-raid dropping 425’s.

See, your issue is you want to feel special for your effort.

I was like that back in TBC when they released badge gear. But soon I realized, that I was the one with the problem. Why spend months raiding and wiping, with people who didn’t show up, or quit the guild as soon as it suits them? That was having an adverse affect on my time playing.

The only reason PvP vendors aren’t a thing is because it would cut down play time players would have to endure in order to get their items. Paying 1800 currency is good for the players, while having players strung along by RNG drops is better for the game metrics.

Why should you get rewarded in an MMO for non-challenging content?

Why do other content when you can just do mindess time gated WQs for comparable gear? WQs shouldn’t be end game content raids and arenas/rbgs/m+ should be.

I’m confused. Heroic/mythic Azshara is gonna give way higher ilvl loot isn’t it? I think the Benthic gear can eventually get to heroic level but it’s gonna take a lot of effort to get it to that point. In which case, the person who does so has put in the effort and deserves their reward. Not to mention the peeps doing heroic Azshara will get that ilvl far quicker then the peeps maxing out Benthic gear.

No effort, skill involved just time.

So what? Why is it wrong for OP to want to shine if they accomplish more? When did we start thinking that those who do less deserve the same as those who do more?

It is quite simple my statuesque shortcake; there is a sub-culture within WoW that believes that gear is the ultimate achievement, and should only be met out to those they deem worthy enough to participate in content they approve of.

This particular sub-culture traces its roots all the way back to the vanilla style WoW, where individuals would actually go out of their way to show of their gear, brag about their superior gaming skills, and flat out sing their own praises to the heavens. It is a sad sub-culture, and an unfortunately pervasive one.

Perhaps in time, those who continue to cling to such out-dated notions will truly learn to love the content they partake in for the sake of the content itself, without having to compare or compete against anyone else but themselves.

That’s like saying it’s ok that you and your coworker make the same amount even though he works 20 hours a week and you work 40.

I don’t believe that’s the question you are asking here.

You are asking why people get gear for not doing challenging content.

Good question. Each person will feel differently about it. Maybe it’s just the enjoyment of it, the social aspect of it?

That’s not the argument. The argument is why do a normal or even heroic raid when you can just run around the world killing easy enemies to get the same reward.
