Yea yea. Anytime anyone disagrees without falling over themselves apologizing for daring to disagree they’re "rude, attacking ppl, trolls, etc., etc. Zzzzzzz
Your perception of me has zero bearing on my life whatsoever and I’m not going to feel bad for speaking matter of factly just because some of you have paper thin skin.
I don’t understand where this hostility comes from? You do recognize that America, Asia and Europe have a vastly different lifestyle and not everyone is bound by the same rules and situation you likely face (student loans, bad economic, …)?
And secondly, nobody ever said that “everything without doing” is needed. However, they should be acquirable in some form.
I do agree with the statement but what would be another solution? People, who prefer timed FOMO, can still get it for free while the rest then pays up. It’s a good solution for an ethical gamer problem.
You should rather see it as money, which goes into the server-longevity and improving the game.
This is not possible. Not everyone has either the time, energy or makes personal sacrifices to play a video game. The ideal player is a NEET who has so much time and money on his hands and I don’t think this is a solution either. At the same time, some people have not the ability to get some things done, either by skill or due limitations.
This brings also the question up if we should “cull” these weak players from the rewards, although they are willed to do something for this.
WoW implements a perverted version of risk reward. In a true implementation of risk vs reward, A mythic-decked out player should get reduced reward (or no rewards) when killing heroic or normal bosses because their gear trivializes the encounter. They should get practically nothing in LFR or world quests because there is no risk.
If you truly believe in risk vs reward, a mythic decked-out player steps into a normal raid they should scale down to match the item level of the gear dropped by the boss. Anything else perverts the risk reward concept that you champion.
A fully decked out mythic raider, gets practically nothing as a reward in LFR or world quests.
I am not fully decked out as a mythic raider. What reward do I get from WQs or LFR? Practically nothing. All the rewards are nearly worthless to me, and have been for a while.
The game is centered around MAU and Blizzard do report proudly the numbers to the investors every time. Look it up. They started with this trend in Legion and continued to do so going forward. Spend as much time as possible.
That has absolutely nothing to do with my statement.
MAUs are not based around targeting “rich uneducated and unemployed” players. A person who works and logs in once a month is valued the same as a person that plays 20 hours a day in MAU stats.
If I give you $20 and say, “This is for Mars. Mars belongs to me now.” I just paid you $20 for Mars. I paid for Mars. Is Mars mine? Not so much. Does that matter? If we go to court, sure. But you can’t stop me from walking around claiming you sold me Mars. You can say I’m mistaken. You can say I’m wrong. That doesn’t change my expectations, and if I agreed to pay you monthly for my right to keep Mars, you may consider trying to pacify me rather than proving to me that Mars isn’t my property.
The same is true about digital items in the game. I paid for them and I expect them. Blizzard may disagree, but that doesn’t change my expectations. Thus far, their design has been sufficient to keep me playing. I expect the hand-outs to continue. So long as they do, my subscription will never lapse.
I would like it if the hand-outs were even better quality and were given out more frequently, but the rate and quality at which they have been historically introduced to the game is fine, so long as that is maintained going forward.
Blizzard’s failure to expand Archaeology into Shadowlands is a significant shortcoming in this area, and if they wish to keep casuals hooked and paying, they should never repeat a mistake of that magnitude again. The lack of Archaeology is the reason I don’t have anything to do in Shadowlands. Everything I’m doing lately occurs outside the current content zones, and I think that’s a bit of a shame.
Archaeology, Fishing, Questing, Rare Hunting, and solo achievements are my favorite activities and so long as they continue to be updated and offer new rewards and engaging content each and every expansion (Legion knocked it out of the park with the Underlight Angler), I will be happy enough to go on playing. More would be better, of course, but at this point, I would settle for Legion quality.
I don’t think these are excuses. It’s part of the emotional awareness to understand that not everybody can have your life, your situation, your willpower and so on. If you are willed to exclude people and potential customers in a inclusive era, then you’ll continue to see more of those topics popping up.
I disagree. WoW wants to have a very developed critical mass which will do anything. Usually only retired people or NEET can spend this much time a day in a game. You may disagree with me but they are bean-checkers. Of course this isn’t a norm but these are the preferred people for any company.
Monthly Active Users. Thats literally what it is. A person playing 100 hours a week is the same as a person playing 1 hour a week. They are both a singular user. So when MAUs are released…they both count as one.
I disagree with you because you seem unfamiliar with the definitions of the words/buzzwords you are using.
What value does a rich, uneducated, unemployed person bring to a subscription based game like WoW? As long as you pay the sub, they have your money.
